Jacky Wu dismisses backlash against his interview with MAMAMOO's Solar
11 Jun - Jacky Wu recently dismissed the backlash against him over his recent comment in front of MAMAMOO's member, Solar on his show, "Mr. Player".
The whole issue sparked after Solar appeared on the show to promote her Chinese EP, "Floating Free", inviting praises from Jacky who told her that she is a good singer.
"I'm quite surprised. Many Korean girls are beautiful, but when they start singing, wow, it's really bad to listen to," said the TV personality.
Many then took to social media to slam Jacky, saying that he was being disrespectful and speaking out of turn. Some even alleged that an old school host like Jacky should just retire from the industry.
In response to the criticism, Jacky said that he has been accustomed to this kind of targeted criticism and that "the truth will become clearer as time goes by." He added that people should ask Solar herself if she was slighted by his comment.
"I was simply complimenting Solar for being beautiful and talented at singing. There's nothing wrong with that!" he added.
Jacky then revealed that he had just performed with Solar at the 11th anniversary event of his show, adding, "We've always upheld the spirit of 'It's great to have friends come from afar' in warmly welcoming every friend from the entertainment industry, both from Taiwan and abroad."

This week in the United Kingdom, a dozen of Taylor Swift's albums appear on various charts. Some show up on just one ranking, while others land on as many as six. Many of her earliest projects return to several lists after fans deemed it acceptable once again to buy and stream releases that, until recently, financially benefited people other than the singer-songwriter herself. Now that Swift owns the rights to her own work, interest in those albums has surged. Some of those past efforts, which had been largely passed over for years, are now being thrust back into the spotlight. One of Swift's earliest full-lengths doesn't just return — it sells better than ever, as it climbs higher than it ever has on one important tally. Fearless reappears on three different rankings in the U.K. this week. The set is once again a powerful seller, and it manages to reach a new peak on the Official Albums Sales chart as it blasts back in.
