Second boxer dies from brain injuries after Tokyo event
The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) announced the death of Japanese boxer Urakawa at the age of 28 on Sunday following a bout with Yoji Saito on 2 August.
It occurred days after Shigetoshi Kotari, who fought out a draw with Yamato Hata on the same card in Tokyo, died due to injuries to his brain.
"The WBO mourns the passing of Japanese boxer Hiromasa Urakawa, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during his fight against Yoji Saito on 2 August at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo," a WBO statement read.
"This heartbreaking news comes just days after the passing of Shigetoshi Kotari, who died from injuries suffered in his fight on the same card.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and the Japanese boxing community during this incredibly difficult time."
Lightweight Urakawa fought 14 times as a professional (10-4, 7KOs), while Tokyo featherweight Kotari contested 12 bouts (8-2-2, 5KOs).
The Japanese Boxing Commission has since announced all Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation title fights will be reduced from 12 rounds to 10.

Callum Walsh will return to the ring next month as part of the undercard for the huge fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. Should the American win, he will become the first boxer to become a three-weight undisputed champion in the four belt (WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF) era of the sport. Only 11 men have been undisputed champion and none have been outright champion of more than two weight classes. Claressa Shields has achieved this feat in the female game (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO), while Ireland's Katie Taylor has held all four titles in the lightweight division, and currently is undisputed at super-lightweight (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and IBO.)

Arne Slot: Liverpool need a little adjustment defensively for Bournemouth clash
Arne Slot demanded Liverpool tighten up defensively before Friday's Premier League curtain-raiser after allowing Crystal Palace to come back and win the Community Shield in a penalty shootout at Wembley. Hugo Ekitike – one of four summer signings in Slot's starting XI – scored in the fourth minute of his competitive Reds debut, assisted by fellow new addition Florian Wirtz, an opener subsequently cancelled out by Jean-Philippe Mateta's 17th minute penalty. Jeremie Frimpong opened his own Liverpool account to restore their lead shortly afterwards, but Ismaila Sarr's 77th-minute equaliser ultimately forced penalties, decided by Northern Ireland international Justin Devenny as Palace came out on top 3-2 in the shootout. "I think in the whole pre-season we saw that we are able to create more and we are more comfortable on the ball, we create more opportunities, chances, we dominate maybe even more," said Slot. "Last season we had a lot of ball possession but that didn't always lead to promising situations. Now, we are better in creating and getting promising situations than we were, in my opinion, throughout the whole of last season. "But the other side is also true, that we have conceded four against Milan, one against the Japanese team (Yokohama F. Marinos), two against (Athletic) Bilbao and again two today. "What made us really strong last season was we only won mostly by a margin of one goal and that had mostly to do with us keeping a clean sheet or as a maximum conceding one goal." Liverpool kick off their Premier League title defence on Friday night, hosting Bournemouth at Anfield, where Slot hopes to see swift improvement. He added: "In general there were not many chances because they went to a low block (and) we had a lot of ball possession. But after the 2-2 they had (chances), so it needs maybe a little bit of adjustment defensively at the moment because we don't concede a lot of chances but we do concede goals at the moment." And while Slot was pleased for his newcomers, the Dutch boss expects they would have happily traded their goals for a better result. He said: "I think it's always nice to score a goal. Not only for (Ekitike), also for Jeremie Frimpong – if you are starting your career at a new club. But it would have been even nicer to win a game of football because I think that's more important than scoring a goal."

Benjamin Nygren opens Celtic Account in win over Aberdeen
Benjamin Nygren got off the mark for Celtic as the champions overcame their Scottish Cup conquerors Aberdeen. The summer signing from Nordsjaelland notched a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory at Pittodrie as Celtic moved four points ahead of Rangers after their second William Hill Premiership game. Much of the narrative around Celtic is centred on their struggles to find attacking additions to their squad but the two new signings in the team, Kieran Tierney and Nygren, combined for the Swede to send the visitors into a half-time lead. Nygren added a simple assist as Reo Hatate produced a wonderful finish 20 minutes into the second half. Aberdeen fans raised a giant banner of the Scottish Cup replete with red and white ribbons before the game as they welcomed their team out at Pittodrie for the first time since their Hampden triumph over Celtic. But they were silenced after Hatate's goal before finishing the game as the only team in the Premiership still to collect a point. Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin brought Nicky Devlin and Alfie Dorrington into his back four following their opening defeat by Hearts, while James Forrest was in for Yang Hyun-jun in the only change to the Celtic team that started their opening 1-0 win over St Mirren. The home side threatened on several occasions early on when they broke quickly after turning the ball over. On-loan Sunderland attacker Adil Aouchiche forced a diving save from Kasper Schmeichel from their best moment. Celtic gradually got the game under control and got the breakthrough in the 27th minute. Tierney used his pace over five yards to get outside Nicolas Milanovic and drilled in a cross which Nygren swept home with his left foot. The Sweden international soon shot over with his right after Hatate's effort was parried. Celtic were well on top now but were off target from a Nygren free-kick and Scales header. Aberdeen were struggling to get the ball into Celtic's half and when they worked the ball into Kusini Yengi in the box, the big striker made a mess of his control and saw it run out for a goal kick. The former Portsmouth player had missed several good chances at Tynecastle and was replaced by Ester Sokler early in the second half. Dimitar Mitov kept the Dons in the game with a brilliant save to tip over Daizen Maeda's first-time strike after good play from Forrest. Aberdeen were more competitive than they had been in the latter stages of the first half but Topi Keskinen sliced well off target when he got a sight of goal and Celtic moved further ahead with a touch of class from Hatate. Nygren's pass found the Japan midfielder in space and he curled the ball in off the bar from the edge of the box. Nygren almost had another assist moments later following a deft ball over the top. Maeda's touch took him away from his marker but he lost his footing as he bore down on goal. Shin Yamada came on for his Celtic debut in the immediate aftermath of Hatate's strike. The Japanese striker did not have any sights of goal but he showed his strength in his own box when his shoulder charge on Dante Polvara put the Dons sub off his stride as he latched on to Sokler's flick. Polvara stabbed the ball towards goal but Schmeichel saved.
