Pinballing Florida gas prices up 10 cents in last week. Here's what you'll pay at the pump.
Florida drivers continue to see up and down prices at the pump. On Monday, drivers were paying an average of $3.04 a gallon for regular unleaded, up 10 cents from a week earlier, according to the AAA auto club. "Florida gas prices have fluctuated within the same 26-cent range for almost a year now," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a statement. "Prices at the pump will continue to move in that range until there's a significant change in oil prices or a major disruption — like a hurricane — impacts the supply chain." Over the past two weeks, pump prices have pinballed within that range. The state average dropped 20 cents in 10 days, then rebounded 19 cents early last week. Pump prices are now on the way back down, falling 7 cents through the weekend. The last time the state average was above $3.20 per gallon was September 6, 2024. Since then, Florida gas prices bounced between $2.92 per gallon and $3.18 per gallon. "The national average price of gasoline has held within about 10c/gal of $3.10/gal for virtually all of 2025 and will remain above $2/gal for just about every American (a lucky few perhaps) for the rest of year and likely into next year," Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, posted on Bluesky. In Miami-Dade on Monday, the average price for regular unleaded was $2.99 a gallon, up 4 cents from the week before. A month ago, the average was $2.99 and a year ago drivers were paying $3.34 a gallon. In Broward, the average was also $3.03 a gallon, up 8 cents from last week. A month ago, the average was $2.99 and a year ago it was $3.37 a gallon. AAA encourages drivers to combine errands, drive conservatively, remove excess vehicle weight, shop around using the AAA mobile app, and consider paying with cash to avoid credit card surcharges. AAA members can also save by enrolling in gas rewards programs, such as Shell's Fuel Rewards or discounts at Love's Travel Stops. Travelers can find updated gas prices and plan routes using AAA's tools at

Prepare for triple lane closures on I-40 in Nashville, TN transportation officials say
Nashville International Airport and the Tennessee Department of Transportation are gearing up to debut a new "diverging diamond" interchange aimed at easing congestion in the heavily-frequented area around BNA. But traffic may worsen before it gets better. In order to complete the interchange, TDOT has to close several lanes and reroute vehicles around the construction areas. "This work is necessary to mill and pave the interstate as part of TDOT's Interstate 40 interchange at Donelson Pike," TDOT said in a statement. "While these closures will occur during off-peak hours, motorists are strongly encouraged to leave early to arrive at their destination on time." Here's a guide to the closures, which begin on Aug. 11, and will last at least through the end of the month. Nightly triple-lane closures on I-40 start at 8 p.m. From 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. every night starting Aug. 11, construction crews will shut down three lanes of traffic on I-40 in both directions near Exit 216 by the airport. TDOT officials said they expect the closures to continue for the next two to three weeks. This is the latest in a series of closures and shifts for the sake of the new Donelson Pike interchange. Construction on the project began back in 2022, and the projected completion timeline is set for August 2027. However, the Metro Nashville Airport Authority Board agreed to pay up to $6 million in incentives to the contractor if the project is completed ahead of schedule. The board and TDOT leadership both said they support the acceleration of construction because "the interchange has continued to be a trouble spot for locals and tourists alike." Two short-term ramp detours go into effect Two less impactful, but still significant closures will also take place this week. Exit 216A off of I-40 eastbound will close down entirely from midnight to 3 a.m. on Aug. 12 and 13. During this closure, drivers will be detoured to Exit 216B. Then, on Aug. 14 and 15 from midnight to 3 a.m., Exit 216B off of I-40 will be closed. Cars will be directed to utilize Exit 216A instead at that time. Why is the new Donelson Pike interchange being built? TDOT and the Nashville airport partnered on the project in order to increase capacity on the roads feeding into BNA, improve safety and reduce time stuck in traffic for drivers. In all, it includes relocating the interchange at Exit 216 and replacing it with the diverging diamond for a total cost of $135.9 million 'As Nashville and the state of Tennessee continue to grow, we need to explore more creative ways to deliver outstanding service to the traveling public," MNAA CEO and President Doug Kreulen previously said of the project. The current Donelson Pike interchange was built in the 1980s when BNA and its traffic demands were a fraction of what they are now. Over the last decade, the airport has more than doubled its annual passenger numbers, from 11.7 million in 2015 to tracking to surpass 25 million in 2025. A First Look At The Penthouses At W Pompano Beach Hotel And Residences
Pompano Beach's popularity has been quietly heating up over the years as luxury clients seek an alternative to more populated neighboring South Florida cities, like Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Boca Raton, that still offer a range of lifestyle options. The latest luxury project to land in Pompano Beach is the W Pompano Beach Hotel and Residences, backed by real estate developers Related Group and BH Group in collaboration with Marriott International. This marks the first co-located W Hotel and Residences in the Western Hemisphere. It also is a direct reflection of W Hotels' multi-year brand evolution. The W Hotel opened in New York City in 1998 and reshaped the city's nightlife. The hotel brand quickly became known for its nightlife-focused programming, avant-garde architecture and design, and bold branding. Its new chapter will retain W's innovative spirit that has always focused on contemporary luxury with slight shifts that speak to today's luxury buyer through a refreshing and light color palette and sleek, timeless design and more extensive wellness, cultural, social, and family-friendly programming. "It's not the W that your parents went to, it's the W that your parents want to go to now," Patrick Campbell, EVP of Related Group, tells Forbes. 'It's about the evolution of bringing that luxury to the active lifestyle and modern buyer.' Not only is W Pompano Beach a major milestone for the W brand itself, but will help solidify Pompano Beach as a luxury destination on par with other South Florida cities. In addition to the 238-key hotel, there will be 77 luxury residences and nine penthouses set within the 24-story waterfront tower. The brand recently unveiled its nine bespoke penthouse suites, which range in price from $6.5 million to over $15 million. Set on the highest levels of the tower, the penthouses feel like single-family residences in the sky. Layouts range from 3,250 square feet to more than 6,200 square feet of interior space. There are 11-foot-high ceilings throughout, east-to-west windows, sunlit interiors, and sweeping outdoor terraces overlooking the ocean. From nearly every room, the panoramic ocean views take center stage. Interior details include bronze finishes, creamy white furnishings, beautiful stonework, and wood. Clean lines and a modern, minimalist style make each residence feel warm and inviting. "W offers that outdoor Florida living combined with the prestige and prominence of a penthouse," Campbell says. 'Our building has upgraded finishes, chef's kitchens, and added luxury features that can be tailored to the buyer so they can choose the ultimate bespoke luxury home.' Of the nine penthouses available, there are three Premier Penthouses that represent the pinnacle of the collection. These three sprawling residences each span two stories and have a private rooftop terrace with more than 2,800 square feet of space that includes climate-controlled lounges, state-of-the-art summer kitchens, pools, lounge deck, alfresco dining, and landscaped areas. Building amenities exclusively for residents include a 12,000-square-foot outdoor pool deck, fitness center, resident-only lobby, and an owner's club lounge. Residents will also have access to the hotel's restaurants and bars and spa. Campbell explains that while other branded residential projects in Pompano Beach (like the Waldorf Astoria Residences Pompano Beach by Related Group that was announced in 2023), this is the only branded residence where you have true 24/7 service due to the hotel component. Related Group tapped Nichols Architects, who worked in collaboration with Kora Architects, to create the grand tower, while interiors were completed by award-winning Meyer Davis Studio. The penthouses are currently for sale.
