Victoria Day is observed on Monday, May 19 this year. The day is a federal stat holiday honouring Queen Victoria.

Parking: On-street parking in all ParkPlus zones will be free on Victoria Day. The Calgary Parking contact centre and customer service centre will be closed on the holiday. Weekend rates apply at Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots.

Leisure centres: Bob Bahan, Killarny and Thornhill leisure centres will be open on Victoria Day with special hours, offering free public swimming from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 2 to 4:30 p.m. All other leisure centres will be closed on the holiday.

Malls: CF Chinook Centre and CF Market Mall will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Victoria Day, CrossIron Mills will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunridge and Southcentre malls will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Core will be open 12 to 5 p.m.

Attractions: Telus Spark Science Centre will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Calgary Zoo/Wilder Institute will be open with regular hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Heritage Park Historical Village opens for the season on May 17 and will operate on the holiday Monday.

Western Canada's largest outdoor amusement park opens for the season on Victoria Day weekend. Calaway Park is offering a brand new ride this year, the Riptide Racer, as well as a new restaurant, Riptide Grill. Also new in 2025 is a family-friendly water balloon fight. The park opens for the season on May 17 at 10 a.m.

Trains coming from the west and downtown will terminate at City Hall, while trains from the northeast will terminate at Marlborough Station. In between, there will be three shuttle bus routes to replace train service. The city is conducting routine maintenance, including work on the 36 Street Tunnel, the Bridgeland pedestrian bridge, Memorial Drive maintenance, signal safety and other things as time allows. Regular Blue Line service will resume Monday morning. Red Line disruption The Red Line was also disrupted Sunday morning between Tuscany and Dalhousie stations due to a power failure, but at around 9:15 a.m., Calgary Transit posted that trains are back running on a regular schedule.

The Red Line will be closed between the Lions Park Station and the Seventh Street S.W. Station from Saturday, Aug 2 to Monday, Aug. 4. Officials say shuttle buses will be running to all the affected stations. The Blue Line will not be impacted by the closure. For more details you can visit the Calgary Transit website. Parking in Calgary parking authority spots No payment is required for on-street parking in ParkPlus zones on Heritage Day, and weekend rates will be in effect at all Calgary Parking Authority parkades and surface lots. Regular rates will be in effect at Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark, Heritage Park and the University District. The City of Calgary's impound lot will be closed on Heritage Day. Arenas and pools City of Calgary arenas, pools and fitness centres will be closed on Heritage Day. Calgary Soccer Centre The Calgary Soccer Centre will be closed on Heritage Day. Leisure centres Both the Village Square Leisure Centre and Southland Leisure Centre will be closed on Heritage Day. City of Calgary art centres The Wildflower Arts Centre and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed on Heritage Day. Landfills All three Calgary landfills will be open on Heritage Day. The East Calgary Landfill will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Spyhill and Shepard Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blue Line in part of northeast closed until Monday

Blue line service will be disrupted this weekend between Rundle and Franklin stations. Part of the Blue Line will be shut down for routine maintenance this weekend, disrupting CTrain service until Monday morning. The line will be closed between Rundle and Franklin in the northeast quadrant of the city Saturday and Sunday. Shuttle buses will replace train service, running every five minutes between stations. The northeast bound tracks at Rundle and Franklin closed Friday at 8:15 p.m. Full service resumes Monday, July 21.
