Niall O Ceallachain issues blunt message following Dublin's failed comeback bid against Kilkenny
NIALL Ó CEALLACHÁIN says Dublin are not interested in moral victories and should have beaten Kilkenny.
The Dubs looked down and out at half-time when they trailed by 14 points — and were 16 down after the restart.

But they conjured a magical performance from there on to outscore Kilkenny by 3-11 to 1-5.
The Cats took the win and a Leinster final place but Dublin earned praise for their performance in the second half.
Yet Ó Ceallacháin said: 'We're not here for performances. We're disappointed not to have won the game.
'It's fairly straightforward in terms of analysis. We were hurling well in that first half but the four goals were killers.

'That puts a certain complexion on the scoreline then.
"But we also knew that there were a lot of things going right as well. So we just focused on those things.
'I'm very proud of the character shown to go back at them having got so many sucker blows.
'From a performance perspective, fine, but we're here to win games.'

Dublin can seal a provincial final place if they beat Galway on Sunday.
That fifth-round clash is at Parnell Park and should be a belter with plenty on the line in the capital.

Micheál Donoghue left the Dublin hotseat after the 2024 season to manage Galway for a second time — opening up the vacancy for Ó Ceallacháin.
The Dubs chief said: 'It's more or less a Leinster semi-final that we're playing next weekend . . .
'That's the way we'll look at it and we'll look forward to that.'
Danny Sutcliffe and Dónal Burke did not make the matchday panel yesterday in Kilkenny.
Sutcliffe left Nowlan Park on crutches with a strapped leg and Ó Ceallacháin said he is out 'for the short-term' at least.
As for All-Star nominee Burke, the boss said: 'I'll chat to him and see.'

Kerry cricketers beat UCC to qualify for All-Ireland National Cup quarter-finals
Batting first, Kerry were soon in trouble at 11 for 2 after five overs, the rebuilding was pedestrian at best, and at 89 for 3 at the half way stage, they looked unlikely to reach 200. But at the fall of the fourth wicket, Khurram joined captain Braden Warnke; together they found top gear. Some classic cover-drives from Warnke contrasted with Khurram's clean six-hitting. Astonishingly, from 130 for 4 in the 29th over, Kerry more than doubled their score in the last 11 overs to finish on a competitive 267 for 7; Khurram lead the way finishing on 87 not out after smashing eight 4s and five 6s. In reply, UCC also started slowly, Adnam fell early and cheaply, but Rizwan and Seenu stayed doggedly at the crease. The clear strategy was to keep wickets in hand to allow them to match Kerry's acceleration in the latter half of their innings. Not bad in theory, but Kerry bowlers very effectively kept the scoring rate down, so the climbing run-rate-required began to dramatically increase pressure on UCC. Rizwan played with great confidence and regularly found the boundary to remind Kerry that he might match Khurram's fireworks later. After Seenu's dismissal, Vikrant hit a dynamic 35 (one 4, four 6s) to further jangle Kerry nerves. When Usman Sherzad found the top of Vikrant's off stump, the pendulum started to swing back towards Kerry, and when Kashif Khan bowled Rizwan the domino effect brought the match to a rapid conclusion; UCC, 166 all out in the 31st over. In the final analysis, a convincing win by 101 runs; Kerry march into an All-Ireland National Cup quarter-final. MCU Division 1 T20 League On Saturday, Kerry's second XI faced Limerick in the morning and Nenagh in the evening, both at the Oyster Oval. After a start delayed by a wet outfield the hosts batting line-up performed like an equally damp squib, capitulating for 45, a token effort breezed past by Limerick's second XI in less than 7 overs. The hosts put up a better fight in the third and final match of the day; bowling respectable pace and lines, they dismissed Nenagh for a below par 124. But in spite of another feisty contribution of from Stephen Jonnalagadda (33), Kerry batters sent up too many skiers which the Nenagh fielders swallowed up with relish; again, Kerry's squad failed to chase down a modest target, all out for 111. Kerry 2nd XI: a.o. 45, lost to Limerick 2nd XI: 47 for no loss, by 10 wickets. Nenagh 1st XI: 124 for 8, beat Kerry 2nd XI: 111 a.o. by 13 runs. MCU Division 3A Kerry's fourth XI continue their good form with a comfortable four-wicket victory over the Blasters with an over to spare at the Oyster Oval on Sunday. Limerick Blasters 3rd XI: 233a.o. lost to Kerry 4th XI 234 for 6, by 4 wickets

GAA club selling commemorative Shane MacGowan jerseys ahead of All-Ireland clash
A GAA Club is flogging commemorative Shane MacGowan jerseys ahead of Tipperary's clash with Laois in the All-Ireland quarter finals. Priced at €54, Shannon Rovers GAA Club are selling the blue and yellow jerseys, with the late Pogues singer's face emblazoned across the bottom. In a statement on their Facebook page, Shannon Rovers GAA Club wrote: 'We have had a lot of people looking to get their hands on the Tipperary Shane MacGowan Commemorative jerseys as Tipp enter the All-Ireland series next weekend. 'Hopefully we will get a few days out in Croke Park and an opportunity to wear our commemorative jerseys. 'To answer the call, we will now be selling our jerseys in a number of locations from this Monday coming. Check out the poster for more info. "We will also have a pop up shop for one day only in Nenagh (beside Easons) on Saturday June 14th. Please note stock is limited! 'As always you can still order online through our web-shop. Alan Tynan, O' Reilly Sports and of course the Tipperary senior hurling team are showing off the commemorative jersey in the image.' Shane's sister Siobhan also backed the initiative. She recently opened up in a YouTube documentary called The Local about Shane's love for Tipperary and how Ireland 'shaped' his identity. She said Shane – who died in November 2023 – found Ireland's way of life much easier to live in. She said: 'I think if Shane would describe his connection to Nenagh in Tipperary to people that he just had loved them since he was a child like you know, I think that Shane's connection to Tipperary and Ireland in general, really shaped Shane's identity, because when we were in England, dad made it very clear to us that we were Irish. 'We weren't brought up as English, so we had a lot of Irish culture in England, even so, between music and books and the culture exposed to at home. 'But when Shane came over to Ireland, I think he really fit in. He found the way of life much easier. 'He didn't like the strictness in school, I suppose, everywhere, but the schools in England were very strict. Life was more strict, more structured, more ordered. And he actually loved the freedom of Tipperary and the easiness of the Irish people.'
