Houston boy battling cancer honored at Texas Capitol
TEXAS (FOX 44) – A Houston boy battling cancer was honored at the Texas Capitol as part of 'D.J. Daniel Day'.
Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows and Texas House Representatives honored D.J. on Monday. He is a 13-year-old Texan who has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. His life goal was to be a police officer when he became an adult.
According to the Coryell County Sheriff's Office, D.J. has set a goal to be sworn in to at least 1,000 law enforcement agencies. He was recently sworn in as an honorary member of the Secret Service, and has now been sworn in by over 900 law enforcement agencies across Texas and the nation.
Sheriff Scott Williams swore in D.J. as an Honorary member of the Coryell County Sheriff's Office. He was also promoted by Sheriff Williams as a member of the SWAT Team and the Hostage Negotiations Team.

In addition, the Lampasas Police Department Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association President Paul Miceli had the honor of presenting D.J. with an Honorary Commission as police officer.

"Everything is on camera—Warren is trying to revise history on Senator Padilla's embarrassing conduct, but Americans can see with their own eyes," Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated. "There's no excuse for busting into a press conference and interrupting it. Had Senator Padilla asked for a meeting, Secretary Noem would have happily obliged, which she graciously did for 15 minutes after the press conference." He raised concerns with the deployment of military forces and the needless escalation over the last week, among other issues. "It was a civil, brief meeting, but the Secretary did not provide any meaningful answers. The Senator was simply trying to do his job and seek answers for the people he represents in California," he added. Other Democrats, like California Sen. Adam Schiff and Rep. Eric Swalwell, have called on Noem to step down. Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski condemned how the incident was handled, whereas others, like sports commentator Stephen A. Military parade set for Saturday
WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Washington, D.C. is gearing up for one of the largest military parades in recent history as the U.S. Army marks its 250th anniversary this Saturday. The celebration will feature thousands of troops, tanks rolling through the streets, and dramatic aircraft flyovers above the National Mall. 'Being part of the Army's 250th is an amazing opportunity especially to represent the First Infantry Division,' said Major Brandt Murphy, who will be among the soldiers marching down Constitution Avenue. Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Husted added: 'You don't see tanks drive down the streets in D.C., so that in itself is going to be very, very cool.' Preparations are underway not only for the parade, but also for a massive security operation. Fencing and security checkpoints now line the National Mall as the Secret Service and local authorities brace for large crowds and a potential visit from former President Donald Trump. 'I'm from Dallas, Texas,' said Jaslyn Jackson, one of many spectators arriving in D.C. ahead of the parade. 'I just want to see how it turns out — the crowds, the energy, and who shows up.' Mary Walker, a Capitol Hill resident, says her family is especially excited, 'We've got a two-year-old boy who's very excited to see tanks and helicopters and celebrate the Army.' Large security presence expected to secure Trump's military parade, festival
Washington, D.C., is preparing for a large security presence ahead of the Army's 250th anniversary parade. Thousands of law enforcement officers from across the country will arrive in Washington to assist in security, and land, air and water assets are deployed in an effort to secure the event, which coincides with President Donald Trump's 79th birthday. "Since April 23, we've been working diligently, around the clock, to get this plan ready," Matt McCool, the special agent in charge of the Secret Service's Washington Field Office, told ABC News, noting that officials typically have six months to a year to prepare for large-scale special security events. "This is a comprehensive plan," he said. "All threats are mitigated," he said. "There will be no line-of-sight issues when it comes to the president. Once you hit the Secret Service perimeter, it will be the most secure place on the planet." The U.S. Coast Guard, which is manning the waterways, told ABC News it is supporting throughout the day with security. "We do these events as part of our mission set. We partner with a lot of agencies anywhere where there is a security or safety function," Coast Guard Cmdr. Ryan Gomez said. The Secret Service and local officials have said they are expecting about nine small protests in Washington, though "No Kings Day" protests will occur nationwide, with the largest expected to be in Philadelphia. Still, McCool said "everything has been mitigated" in preparing for the event. "If you attempt to enter an area you aren't supposed to be in or attempt to commit violence, you will go to jail and you will be prosecuted," he said when asked if he had a message to those who want to disrupt the event. "Something I say often is, in Washington, D.C., nothing gets done without partnership," Taylor said. "In D.C. specifically, with law enforcement, we rely heavily on one another.
