Michael Fishman addresses absence from The Conners finale after fan questions

Original Roseanne star Michael Fishman has responded after fans noticed his absence from The Conners series finale. Fishman, who portrayed D.J. Conner from childhood through the show's spinoff, was neither seen nor mentioned in the final episode, which aired on ABC. Following the broadcast, Fishman, 43, addressed the situation via an Instagram video, explaining that many fans had reached out for his reaction. 'People seem to want there to be some kind of conflict or controversy,' Fishman said. 'All I've ever had was empathy and understanding.' He emphasized his gratitude for the show's legacy and its loyal audience. Fishman credited Roseanne creator Roseanne Barr for the franchise's success and said he was honored to have been part of it. He added, 'I prefer to be a lighthouse in the dark,' expressing his wish to offer comfort rather than criticism. Fishman first joined Roseanne at age six and remained a part of the franchise until his character was written off in Season 4 of The Conners, explained by D.J. joining his wife overseas. At the time, he issued a positive public statement, expressing love and appreciation for the opportunity. According to showrunner Bruce Helford, the decision not to include D.J. in the finale was due to the shortened season and a focus on completing storylines for remaining characters, rather than bringing back characters without a significant narrative arc.

Even after re-signing D.J. Jones, Broncos could target DL in NFL draft

Even after re-signing D.J. Jones, Broncos could target DL in NFL draft After spending the last three years with the Denver Broncos, defensive lineman D.J. Jones was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. The Broncos did not let Jones test the open market as the team gave him a three-year, $39 million extension on the eve of the NFL's free agency negotiating window. Speaking at the NFL's Annual League Meeting last month, Denver coach Sean Payton spoke about the importance of keeping the defensive line (and offensive line) together. 'We felt that it was one of the strengths of our team, not only in defensive line but offensive line," Payton said on March 31. "When we went through the whole process of grading the roster, those two position groups probably graded out the most consistent. I think your team has to be built that way. "We'll continue to look, even in the draft. Draft on a string — there's nothing wrong with that. But I think D.J. was an important part of the equation relative to his experience and the snaps he gave us, not only defending the passing game but, man, he played the run well.' Jones has totaled 122 tackles, 11 quarterback hits, nine pass breakups, five sacks, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 48 games (all starts) in Denver. Broncos general manager George Paton said building up the defensive and offensive lines has been a priority for the front office. 'I think you have to," Paton said on March 31. "That was a big [reason] why we brought D.J. back. We think that D.J. is one of the better noses in the league, so why wouldn't we bring him back and just keep building on his strength? I think that's how you get better. "We had a really good defense last year. How can we take it to the next level? So that's why it was important for us to strength at all three levels. D.J., Greenlaw, [Talanoa] Hufanga down the middle of the defense. So it's really important to build on a strength when you have them.' As Payton noted, Denver could continue building on their strength by selecting another defensive lineman in the draft. Some of the top linemen who could be available when the Broncos pick at No. 20 in the first round are Oregon's Derrick Harmon, Mississippi's Walter Nolen and Michigan's Kenneth Grant. The 2025 NFL draft will be held in Wisconsin from April 24-26. The Broncos currently hold seven picks, but they could acquire more selections through trades. These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans

Homeschooled Lindsey Cocks makes difference playing for Plano, her dad's alma mater. ‘She loves being a Reaper.'

Players want to play, and make no mistake, Plano's Lindsey Cocks is a player. It's one reason why the senior shortstop/third baseman and two-time all-state selection was disappointed Tuesday when her team's nonconference home date with Princeton was postponed. She's on a roll, hitting at .579 only six games into the season. And like any player on a hot streak, Cocks wants to keep it going rather than taking swings in the batting cage in the school's gym. But there's also the fact that her dad, D.J., would have had a rare opportunity to watch his daughter — who's in her fourth varsity season — actually play in person. 'It is disappointing,' Lindsey said. 'It's a bummer. He's home today and could have come out for this game.' D.J. teaches at Westmont, where he also coaches the baseball team. His Sentinels had an off day during their spring break, freeing him up. 'It's always good to see him in the crowd,' Plano coach Dwayne Love said. 'He's one of our biggest backers out there. Whether he's doing it from the stands or afar, we know he's out there.' Always. D.J. Cocks, a Plano native, played for retired coach Jim Schmidt and his former assistant, Love. D.J. coached four years at Newark and four years at his alma mater before going to Westmont in 2011. He started this season with a career record of 388-294 and needs nine wins to reach 400. He will review his Lindsey's games with her when he gets home and has been known to even check in with his wife, Nicole, by call or text from his game to ask, 'How's she doin'?' More often than not, Lindsey, a Judson recruit, is doing quite well. She hit .385 as a freshman and followed that up with seasons of .471 and .519. 'It's crazy,' Lindsey said of playing for the same coach her dad had. 'It's cool, though, seeing how my dad turned out. I know that (Love) is one of the best, and he's always been there for me.' Lindsey, her 16-year-old brother and two younger siblings are all homeschooled. Lindsey has taken two classes at the high school each year to be eligible to play for the Reapers. She has also played travel ball with the Yorkville Lady Reds since she was 8. 'I didn't know anybody coming in here my freshman year, and taking those classes with a few of my teammates really helped me,' Lindsey said. 'I've been blessed. The girls have all been nice, friendly and welcoming.' She remembers her first experience playing softball. 'My dad took me back into our backyard, set up the net and said 'I want you to start swinging,'' Linsdey said. She's been hitting rocket shots ever since, including Wiffle balls over the 107 sign her mom made for an outfield fence post on dad's makeshift field. 'Yeah, she came home (Tuesday) and was teeing the ball up for her little brother,' D.J. said. 'It's tough that I'm coaching, too, and can't see her high school games, but with GameChanger, I can watch them and I see all her travel games. 'I'm proud of the fact she loves being a Reaper and loves coach Love and would run through a wall for him.' Lindsey Cocks shares shortstop and third base with fellow senior Taylor Downs, who's hitting .381 and leads Plano (3-3) with seven RBIs from the leadoff spot. Cocks had three hits with a homer, double and three RBIs Monday in a 16-15 eight-inning win at Mendota. She stole four bases to give her a program career-record 63. Pitching struggles have helped limit Plano to four and six wins the last two seasons respectively, but Cocks and Love thinks this team will improve on those marks. 'When I get on base my philosophy is, 'Just go. You're faster than the catcher. You can get there,'' Cocks said. 'I feel like this year we have our best team chemistry. 'We don't have to be individuals. We need to come together and do it together.'

Sen. Roger Wicker has been one of the staunchest defenders of Ukraine against the Russian invasion. Why has he been silent on the new pro-Russian direction of the president? Why wouldn't any Republican ever publicly disagree with whatever direction the president wants to take our country? If you can't see the sheer propaganda pushed out by trans-activist, leftist Democrats and megaphoned by liberal media then you're hopelessly, willfully blind. They are constantly saying laws prohibiting trans participants in women's sports will result in invasive medical exams to determine gender. Absolutely not true. A simple cheek swab one time will forever determine the biological sex. In most sports, particularly at the pro level, athletes are already tested for performance enhancing drugs. By the way, a cheek swab settles the issue across our entire society. Anything else is in the mind of the person and cross-dressing. America is fast becoming a totalitarian government led by a dictator. President Trump, Vice President Vance, Cabinet members and Congressional Republicans have violated their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. There's simply no doubt that the Democrat party is completely out of touch with the American people. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow had the unmitigated gall and audacity to say that President Trump's comments about 13-year-old brain cancer survivor D.J. and his presentation to the young man of honorary Secret Service appointment were 'disgusting.' D.J. was appreciative and his father, who has been with him throughout his cancer journey was also. So, it begs the question of how Maddow, who hasn't met or interviewed either, could possibly make that comment. It's because she is an uber-liberal displaying the narcissism, arrogance and Trump hatred that make them repulsive. Just when you think President Trump and the Republicans are making a big enough mess that the Democrats might have a chance in the next election, they go and blow their toes off with their stunts during Trump's speech. As a 76-year-old veteran, this is the first time I have ever felt ashamed of being an American. Abandoning allies and aligning with Russia? What has happened to the United States? And now the VA is being cut by a draft-dodging president and his billionaire pals? Can't you see what is happening? Send your Sound Offs to soundoff@
