Bayern Munich are leading Flamengo 3-2 at Hard Rock Stadium in the fourth last-16 tie of the Club World Cup.
The Bundesliga champion struck early with an Erick Pulgar own goal and a deflected Harry Kane strike giving them a 2-0 lead inside 10 minutes. Gerson hammered a strike past Manuel Neuer to halve the deficit but Leon Goretzka restored the two-goal advantage with a great strike of his own from distance.
Flamengo came again in the second half, though, with Jorginho scoring a penalty after Michael Olise's handball.
European champions Paris Saint-Germain await the winner in the quarter-final after cruising past Inter Miami earlier. Watch: DAZN | Channel 5 (UK)

15' Flamengo 0-2 Bayern Munich
Flamengo's first chance of the match and Neuer comes up with a fantastic save! Luiz Araujo has a free shot at the back post but the German goalkeeper gets over well and blocks his effort with a very strong arm.
To their credit, Flamengo have gotten over or through Bayern's first line a few times. But the cohesion in Bayern's midfield and defense to push up the moment the ball enters the middle third has been excellent. Getty Images
Flamengo expected Bayern to press high but they have still been overwhelmed by the German giants' pressure in these opening minutes, and already face an uphill challenge to make this a competitive game.
Pulgar flicked Kimmich's corner kick into his own net after goalkeeper Rossi had lost the ball by cannoning an attempted long kick into his body, and Kane's shot came directly from Upamecano dispossessing De Arrascaeta high up the pitch. It also caught a helpful deflection off the shin of Ortiz. Getty Images
Bayern are into this tournament now. They have not been shy in sharing their desire to win it, and that ambition is showing. A good, quick start, and much more of a Bundesliga rhythm to their performance. Getty Images
10' Flamengo 0-2 Bayern Munich
What a finish by Harry Kane! He collects the ball after Flamengo turn it over deep in their own territory, takes a touch and lashes it past Rossi at the near post. Getty Images
6' Flamengo 0-1 Bayern Munich
Kimmich hits a half-volley with his laces from the edge of the box that wins Bayern another corner. Rossi just barely manages to punch the delivery away, giving the Germans a third corner.
This time, Flamengo fail to deal with it and the ball winds up in the back of the net! Looks to be an own goal, with blame assigned to Erick Pulgar.
2' Flamengo 0-0 Bayern Munich
Flamengo are intent on playing out from the back and immediately put themselves under pressure, conceding a corner.
Kimmich's corner is punched away by Rossi before play is stopped because a balloon is on the pitch. Don't normally see play halted for something like that... Getty Images
1' Flamengo 0-0 Bayern Munich
Bayern get the ball rolling and we're underway in Miami!
Bayern are wearing their white away strip for this game, which feels fitting in light of the Brazilian boos that cascaded down on their players as they were introduced by the stadium announcer. Getty Images
There is a strong feeling in Spain that Flamengo are the underdogs of the tournament and will eliminate Bayern. There is also a lot of hype around Filipe Luis, as fans of Atletico Madrid who are not happy with Diego Simeone want him as their club's next coach. Liam Twomey / The Athletic
There are still plenty of empty seats at Hard Rock as kick-off approaches. It can be hard to distinguish the allegiance of those who are here just by looking since both teams play in red, but the noise in the stadium makes it clear that this will be a Flamengo home game. Brazilians are very well represented in Miami, and Flamengo is the most supported club in Brazil. Getty Images
Bayern Munich are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Benfica in their last match of the group stage, though they rotated heavily for that match knowing that qualification for the round of 16 had already been guaranteed.
Another letdown today, however, would be quite a rare occurrence for the German club. They have yet to lose back-to-back fixtures in all competitions under Vincent Kompany since he became coach in May 2024.
Furthermore, Bayern have only failed to score in back-to-back matches in all competitions once in the past 10 years! That came against Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio in February 2024. Getty Images
There are no big surprises in either team as Flamengo prepare to face Bayern Munich at Hard Rock Stadium.
Jamal Musiala remains among the Bayern substitutes as he continues his recovery from a calf injury sustained in the group stage against Boca Juniors.
Flamengo coach Filipe Luis would not be drawn on whether attacking midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta would be fit to start during yesterday's press conference, but the Uruguay international is indeed in his starting XI. Getty Images
As they have all tournament long, Flamengo fans are showing out in force for their club and bringing fantastic energy. Getty Images
The winner of this match will have the tough task of facing Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final, after the European champions rolled to a 4-0 victory over Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in Atlanta earlier today.
PSG scored all four goals in the first half. Joao Neves got the first two, heading home unmarked in the sixth minute before finishing off a lovely team move a half hour later. A Tomas Aviles own goal accounted for the third before Achraf Hakimi added the fourth on the stroke of half-time. Getty Images
Bayern Munich are strong favourites to progress to the quarter-final, but they will have to snap an impressive unbeaten run for their opponents.
Flamengo come into today's last-16 on an 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions. Their last defeat was a domestic one, losing 2-1 against Cruzeiro on May 4.
If they avoid defeat today in 90 minutes, their unbeaten run will stretch beyond two months. Getty Images
Six changes to the Flamengo team that drew 1-1 with LAFC with the headline news being the return to the line-up of Jorginho — here's the team in full: Starting XI: Rossi; Wesley, Pereira, Ortiz, Sandro; Jorginho, Pulgar; Gerson, De Arrascaeta, Araujo; Plata. Getty Images
Vincent Kompany restores the Kimmich-Goretzka axis in midfield, and picks a fluid-looking three behind Harry Kane, in Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry.
It's a talented group of players, but in combination they don't always function and sometimes their individual impact has been lost under the weight of all the positional rotations. Let's see.
Josip Stanisic at left-back is another area of difficulty; it might work, but I have never seen it happen. Stanisic is a better right-sided player and often looks awkward with the ball and exposed without it on the other flank. Getty Images
A host of changes for Bayern Munich from their final group-stage defeat as Vincent Kompany restores his team back to full strength — here is how the Germans line up at Hard Rock Stadium: Starting XI: Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Gnabry, Coman; Kane.

LAFC loses Olivier Giroud's farewell match, falling 1-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Emmanuel Sabbi scored on Vancouver's only shot on goal, Yohei Takaoka made four saves and the Whitecaps spoiled Olivier Giroud's farewell match with a 1-0 victory over Los Angeles FC on Sunday night. Giroud started and played 60 minutes in his final appearance for LAFC. The famed French forward is expected to sign with Lille after one disappointing year in Los Angeles during which he was largely an unproductive substitute, scoring just five goals in 38 matches. Advertisement Giroud had a chance to go out with a bang when Denis Bouanga fed him an exceptional cross while he was unmarked deep in Vancouver's penalty area in the 50th minute, but Giroud volleyed it over the bar. Giroud still left the field to a standing ovation 10 minutes later, but LAFC failed to equalize without him in its first match back from a winless three-game stint at the Club World Cup. LAFC scored one goal in the entire FIFA tournament, but still netted at least $9.5 million for earning the final spot in the field. Back in Los Angeles, its nine-match unbeaten run in league play ended with even more offensive frustration against Vancouver. Takaoka secured his 10th clean sheet for the depleted Whitecaps, who won for just the second time in six matches while falling out of first place in the Western Conference. Vancouver doesn't have key contributors Brian White, Jayden Nelson and Sebastian Berhalter due to Gold Cup international duty. Advertisement Sabbi scored in the 20th minute with an exceptional effort, starting a counterattack with a midfield steal before controlling Jeevan Badwal's pass in midair on the run and scoring his first goal since April 12. Backup goalkeeper David Ochoa made his first appearance for LAFC in place of Hugo Lloris, who got the day off after playing the entire Club World Cup. ___ AP soccer:
