James Wade holds off Gian van Veen to reach Matchplay quarter-finals
After winning eight consecutive legs to lead 9-4, the 42-year-old Englishman had to withstand a Van Veen fightback before crossing the finishing line.

'I thought I'd thrown it away,' Wade told Sky Sports after reaching his 10th Matchplay semi-final.
'He was quite weak early on in the game, I just thought I'd pummel him now and I couldn't do it.
'Towards the end he was coming back and it was God's gift to me (winning), not my ability. That is for sure.
'I was disgusted (with the start) but he didn't make the most of his opportunities. I'm just so happy now, I'm buzzing.
'I was so nervous, it was awful. I was tight and anxious and I don't need to be because I can play darts.'
There was a 19-year age gap between the pair, with Wade having made his made his television debut at the 2003 BDO World Championship eight months after Van Veen was born.
But it was the experienced Wade who began nervously in missing his first 11 darts at a double – the same number as his total of missed doubles in 28 legs in beating Joe Cullen and Wessel Nijman – and Van Veen capitalised in the opening mini-session.
The Machine looked bemused at his malfunctioning on the big stage, but the first break did him a power of good.

Wade rattled off the next eight legs with his heavy scoring putting the 2024 world youth champion under enormous pressure.
Van Veen recovered from that assault to trade legs, but breaking rather than holding was what was required from his perspective and Wade kept him at bay.
The Dutchman finally broke to get within two legs at 13-11 and had two darts at double 16 to move to within one.
But Van Veen slipped wide of the wire and Wade held on for another marvellous Blackpool memory 18 years on from capturing the title.

Max Verstappen confirms he is staying at Red Bull
Verstappen's break clause from his Red Bull deal can no longer be activated, after his fourth-placed finish in Belgium last Sunday ensured he will not be lower than third in the world championship at the summer break which follows this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. Asked at the Hungaroring if he can say for certain that he will be at Red Bull in 2026, Verstappen replied: 'Yes. I never really said anything about it because I was just focused on talking to the team about improving our performance, future ideas and next year and that is why I had nothing really to add. 'But I think it is time to stop all the rumours. For me, it was always quite clear that I was staying anyway and that was the general feeling in the team because we were always in discussion about what we could do with the car and when you're not interested in staying, you stop talking about these kind of things, and I never did.' Until Thursday, Verstappen, third in the world championship and 81 points off the title pace, had been reluctant to confirm he will drive for Red Bull beyond this year despite having a contract for another three-and-a-half years. His announcement here comes 23 days after Christian Horner discovered he had been ousted as Red Bull team principal and CEO. Verstappen's father, Jos, inside the Red Bull hospitality suite on Thursday when his son ended speculation over his future for 2026, claimed at the beginning of last year Red Bull would 'explode' if Horner stayed. Verstappen added on Sky Sports: 'Some people just like to stir the pot and some people just like to create drama, but for me (the future) it has always been quite clear.' Mercedes have made little secret of their desire to sign the four-time world champion. As it stands, Russell – who despite a series of impressive performances this year – is without a deal for 2026. Speaking prior to Verstappen, Russell, who it is understood has received a contract offer from Mercedes in the past week, said: 'Conversations have started. We are now heading into the summer break. I want to go into this weekend and try and get the team back on track and perform better than we have shown at the past six races. Then I am going to go straight on holiday for two weeks and do a week's training and I want to enjoy that to be honest.' It was then put to Russell, 27, that he will be driving for Mercedes next season, but it is now just a question of how his contract looks. He replied: 'Yes, I guess so.' Despite the continued speculation surrounding suggestions Verstappen could trade Red Bull for Mercedes, those close to the Russell camp have indicated for a number of weeks the 27-year-old is extremely confident of striking a contract extension. Russell has scored 157 points to rookie team-mate Kimi Antonelli's 63 after 13 of the 24 rounds. Mercedes are third in the constructors' standings, 296 points adrift of McLaren.

Harry Redknapp's £5m mansion burgled by yobs with hammer as jewellery stolen

Redknapp and Sandra, both 78, were not present in the £5million house when the gang entered by breaking down the front door, according to the Sun. The thieves are said to have made off with jewellery belonging to Sandra, plus "luxury items" after they surveyed the layout of the house on a property website. The house, located in the Sandbanks resort on the south coast, is currently up for sale, with the robbers possibly accessing key information about it on a Rightmove listing. It's claimed the criminals - all wearing masks - were caught on CCTV helping themselves to valuables in the property as a source said the robbery was "clearly organised". 'The raiders must have known the house was empty,' a source told the publication. 'They used lump hammers and a sledgehammer to smash the front door open.
