Google Pixel 10 series launch likely in August: 5 things we expect

Hindustan Times5 days ago

Google is working on the launch of the Pixel 10 series, and while the design may look similar to the Pixel 9 lineup, there are plenty of rumours about major hardware changes under the hood. Here's everything you need to know before the Pixel 10 series officially arrives.
The Pixel 10 lineup is rumoured to be launched at the upcoming 'Made by Google' event on August 13, 2025. Pre Orders may begin the same day and the devices may start to ship and hit store shelves within a week of release.
Google is set to unveil four devices in the Pixel 10 lineup, including Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. According to leaks, the design is mostly unchanged from the Pixel 9 lineup.
Featuring flat edges, a horizontal camera bar and thin bezels around the display. The colour options are rumoured to include four shades: Obsidian (Black), Blue, Iris (Purple) and Limoncello (Yellow).
The biggest upgrade in the Pixel 10 lineup will be the new Tensor G5 chipset. According to rumours, the new Tensor G5 chipset is manufactured by TSMC itself instead of Samsung. This new Tensor G5 chip is expected to deliver significant improvements in performance and efficiency.
The new chip is rumoured to have a custom TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) for AI and on-device processing. The RAM may go up to 12GB but there's nothing about the storage yet.
The Pixel 10 base model is rumoured to come with a triple camera setup. A telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom will make its debut in the Pixel 10 model. Some leaks suggest that the main and ultrawide sensors may be borrowed from the Pixel 9a.
Google is expected to do this to compensate with advanced computational photography and new AI features. We may see a better stabilisation system and smarter AI-driven camera modes.
Pixel 10 is likely to launch with Android 16 right out of the box with multiple new AI features. We may also be able to see the new Material 3 expressive design across the software.
Google is expected to bring generative AI features like Video Generative ML for advanced video editing, Speak-to-Tweak for voice-based image editing and Sketch-to-Image. And this all will be processed on-device thanks to the new Tensor G5 chip.

WWDC 2025: Apple Intelligence gets more powerful on  iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro

At the Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple unveiled several new Apple Intelligence features across its product lineup including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro. Some of these include Live Translation, enhanced Visual Intelligence, and more powerful Image Playground and Gemoji and Shortcuts, which now has direct access to Apple Intelligence. The tech giant is also opening up Apple Intelligence for third party app developers so they can better integrate with their offerings. Since these large language models process data on the device itself, Apple says the functionalities will work offline as well. Here's a quick look at some of the Apple Intelligence features coming to several Apple devices with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 and watchOS 26. With Live Translation, Apple says users will be able to communicate with others without any language barrier. The feature is integrated with several first party apps like Messages, Phone and FaceTime, and run entirely on the device itself. Coming to the Messages app, Apple says Live Translation will 'automatically translate messages.' For example, when a user is making plans with their friends when abroad, the message will be translated in real time, and delivered in the recipient's preferred language. As for FaceTime, the audio will be shown as live captions in the speaker's original language. If you are on a phone call, the translation will be 'spoken aloud throughout the conversation.' Genmoji and Image Playground, two new Apple Intelligence features that were introduced last year are also getting some upgrades. Now, users will not only be able to generate a Genmoji with text, but also mix and combine emojis to create a new one. Moreover, when making images inspired by your friends or family, Apple says you can now change their expressions and even change personal attributes like hairstyle to match their look. Image Playground is also getting a bunch of enhancements. The ChatGPT powered functionality can turn images into various styles like vector art and oil painting. You can also use the feature to describe a user or photo to generate a new 'unique image.' The Google Lens powered Visual Intelligence is also getting some new features. For example, users will now be able to ask ChatGPT questions about what they are looking at and search about things on Google, Etsy and select supported apps. Also, if a user is interested in, say, a lamp, they can now highlight the object to get more information about it online or find similar objects. Using Apple Intelligence, Visual Intelligence will also be able to see if a user is looking at an event and automatically suggest it to add it to their calendar with details like time, location and date. Apple is also bringing its AI feature suite to the Shortcuts app. To maintain privacy, Apple says these features will either be processed on the device itself or with Private Cloud Compute. For example, students can now make a new shortcut that uses Apple Intelligence to compare things like an audio transcription of a lecture to their notes and add key points they may have missed out on. Apple Watch, one of the most popular smartwatches in the world is also getting new AI powered features like Workout Buddy. The new Apple Intelligence powered functionality 'incorporates a user's workout data and fitness history' to give them personalised insights during their workout sessions. Workout Buddy also analyses data from your current workout while referencing their fitness history for data like heart rate, distance, pace, Activity rings, personal milestones and more. Based on this, the functionality will then use a text-to-speech model to translate them into a 'dynamic generative voice built using voice data from Fitness+' to motivate them. It will be available on Apple with Bluetooth headphones, but users will need an Apple Intelligence supported iPhone nearby. Some of the most popular workout types Workout Buddy is coming to include Outdoor and Indoor Run, Outdoor and Indoor Walk, Outdoor Cycle, HIIT, and Functional and Traditional Strength Training.

Apple brings Visual Intelligence updates to compete with Google

Apple is bringing a bunch of updates to Apple Intelligence's Visual intelligence feature – which is the system's ability to understand, interpret and learn from visual information. It can recognise patterns, analyse images and extract meaningful information from visual data. Furthermore, the company has essentially brought its own version of Google's 'Circle to Search' feature, allowing users to conduct searches quickly. Building on the core framework of Apple Intelligence, Visual Intelligence extends its reach across the entire iPhone interface. Users will now be able to leverage AI to gain deeper insights and perform quick actions based on what they are actively viewing. This includes the ability to pose questions to integrated AI models like ChatGPT directly about the onscreen content, enabling users to learn more about images, text, or elements they encounter. Quick searches online, powered by Apple Intelligence Beyond conversational queries, Visual Intelligence also facilitates immediate action. Users can conduct searches on platforms such as Google, Etsy or other supported applications to locate similar images or products based on what is visible on their screen. Furthermore, the system is also designed to demonstrate proactive intelligence by recognising when a user is viewing information related to an event. Upon detection, Visual Intelligence will intelligently suggest adding the event to the user's calendar, automatically pre-populating key details such as the date, time, and location. This integrated functionality promises to streamline personal organisation and information management. It is to be noted that since Apple Intelligence is available on iPhone 15 Pro and later, the latest abilities are also coming on all iPhone 16 models , iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in English. Apple brings this Google's Android-like feature in iOS 26 – powered by Apple Intelligence

Apple has unveiled significant enhancements to the iPhone's core Phone application – powered by Apple Intelligence . The company has introduced a unified layout and innovative features designed to streamline communication and minimise unwanted interruptions for users. The update is similar to Android's call screening feature that Google announced three years ago. Apple launches Call Screening and Hold Assist According to Apple, these updates aim to make the fundamental iPhone experience more intuitive and efficient. Building on the existing Live Voicemail capability, a new feature called Call Screening will now allow users to handle incoming calls more easily. This 'intelligent' function will gather information from the caller in real-time, providing users with crucial details to help them decide whether to answer or disregard the call. This aims to significantly reduce interruptions from unwanted or unknown callers. Furthermore, for those often left waiting on hold, Apple is introducing Hold Assist. This feature will notify users when a live agent becomes available, eliminating the need to constantly monitor the call while on hold. Call Screening supports Cantonese (China mainland, Hong Kong, Macao), English (US, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Africa, UK), French (Canada, France), German (Germany), Japanese (Japan), Korean (Korea), Mandarin Chinese (China mainland, Taiwan, Macao), Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (US, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain). Hold Assist supports English (US, Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK), French (France), Spanish (US, Mexico, Spain), German (Germany), Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese (Japan), and Mandarin Chinese (mainland China). Phone App gets a complete revamp Apple has also revamped its Phone app. Central to the revamped Phone app is a consolidated interface that brings together Favorites, Recents, and Voicemails into a single, easily navigable location. This streamlined design will offer users convenience and accessibility for managing calls and contacts.
