Rapper Rod Wave arrested for 14 charges including after his home was 'robbed'

Metro21-05-2025

Rapper Rod Wave has been arrested and charged with a string of offences after his home was robbed.
Born Rodarius Marcell Green, the American rapper, singer, and songwriter first rose to fame in 2019 with his single Heart on Ice, which went viral on TikTok before peaking at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
His debut studio album Ghetto Gospel then went on to peak at number ten on the US Billboard 200. In the five years since he's released a further five albums, the most recent being 2024's Last Lap.
That release debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, marking his seventh consecutive top ten album, and making him the only male artist to release a top ten album each year from 2019 to 2024.
Green has also sold 65 million digital copies in the United States, making him one of the highest certified artists in the United States and he's also been nominated for a American Music Award and Billboard Music Award.
However, this week the 26-year-old was arrested and charged with 14 counts including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and felony tampering with evidence.
Variety has reported the musician was detained in Fulton County, Georgia and released on $50,000 (£37,000) bond yesterday.
The arrest was connected to an incident that took place on April 21 when the rapper 'returned to his home following a burglary'.
'At his residence, an argument ensued, and a pistol was fired 14 times, striking several cars and a wall in the home.'
In an incident report obtained by USA Today, Green and his girlfriend are listed as victims of an April 21 burglary at their Georgia home, after which Milton County Police officers were dispatched to a home in response to a domestic dispute where 'neighbours were yelling and screaming outside'.
The report stated that an officer found a woman crying, who said that when returning home from out of town that night, she found their home had been burgled.
When inspecting the property, officers found a broken window, an emptied safe in the basement, bullet casings on the stairs leading up to the driveway, a gold Mercedes-Benz G Wagon riddled with bullets and a black Rolls-Royce with one bullet hole. A black handgun was also found on the scene.
The woman told officers Green was not home but planned to return the next day. It is unclear how the incident relates to his charges.
In a statement provided to Variety, Green's attorney Drew Findling said: 'There is no truth to these charges [against his client]. Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favourably to Mr. Green.'
Green had previously been arrested for possession of ammunition or a weapon in Florida in April 2024 after police suspected he'd been involved in a gang-related shooting that left four injured. More Trending
In 2022, he was also arrested and charged with battery by strangulation in the same state after being accused of accused of choking an ex-girlfriend while their two children were inside the home.
The charge was later dismissed, with his lawyer calling the incident a 'misunderstanding'.
Green is reported to be the 21st highest-grossing touring rapper of all time, earning $36 million from 31 shows.

I ordered a pretty cake for my birthday but what arrived was so ugly – people say it ‘looks like a five-year-old did it'

A YOUNG woman has revealed that she ordered herself what she thought would be a trendy and pretty cake to celebrate her birthday. Eager to kick off her celebrations in style, Alexandra Tobie splashed the cash on a personalised birthday treat. 2 2 But when her cake arrived, the content creator was lost for words and left in tears by the fail. And if that wasn't bad enough, the top of the cake featured a rogue blue heart, as well as a random splodge of blue icing, which appeared to be a mistake. Coco Gauff is not actually tennis star's real name as people confused

Coco Gauff is not actually tennis star's real name as people confused Coco Gauff is in action in the French Open final against Aryna Sabalenka - and the American tennis sensation has previously explained why she goes by 'Coco' Coco Gauff (Image:) Tennis star Coco Gauff has spoken about the fascinating reasons behind her preference for her nickname over her birth name 'Cori'. The young prodigy, who captured the world's attention at 15 by storming to the fourth round of Wimbledon, has been affectionately known as 'Coco' since her landmark victory over Venus Williams at the renowned championships in 2019, catapulting her into stardom. Her impressive achievements include clinching the US Open title in 2023 and appearing in two French Open finals, preparing for a showdown against Aryna Sabalenka on a Saturday afternoon this year. ‌ In a previous discussion, Gauff unveiled the backstory of her sobriquet: "My dad's name is Corey," she communicated. "And so I guess, you know, they didn't want me to get my dad and me confused when my mom is like yelling at one of us in the house." ‌ Concerning the moniker 'Coco', she detailed two potential sources: "With Coco there are two stories. My aunt says she came up with calling me Coco. But then my dad said, when he was younger, people used to call me Co. "Then he was like, I'll call my daughter Coco. I don't know which story is actually true, but they both get pretty bad if I don't say both of them. I just say that." Gauff also recounted occasional mix-ups due to her name: "Every time I check into hotels or people at the airport, they look at my ID, obviously the airport you book under your real name, but the person sometimes will recognize me and they'll be like, 'Wait, are you Coco?', I'm like, 'Yeah, it's just a nickname. I'm not somebody that looks like her'." Article continues below Moreover, she explained typical confusions at hotels: "In the hotel, sometimes, like, 'Well, we don't have your room', I'm like, 'It's probably under Coco, not Cori', and then they'll do that." Ahead of the French Open final, Gauff said: 'My first final here I was super nervous, and I kind of wrote myself off before the match even happened,' she said. 'Obviously here I have a lot more confidence just from playing a grand slam final before and doing well in one. ‌ 'I think going into Saturday I'll just give it my best shot and try to be as calm and relaxed as possible. Whatever happens, happens. 'I think just realising how minuscule it is, everybody is dealing with way bigger things in life than losing a final. And realising however many players wanted to be in this position. 'I'm sure there are hundreds of players who would kill to win or lose a final, so just knowing that makes me realise how lucky and privileged I am to be in this position. Article continues below 'At first I thought it would be the end of the world if I lost, but you know, the sun still rose the next day. So knowing, regardless of the result, the sun will still rise. 'Especially being in a city like Paris, I was walking around the next day, and no one knew that I lost, and no one cared. I was just realising that how big the moment seems in our lives is not as big in the grand scheme of things.'
