Rapper Rod Wave arrested for 14 charges including after his home was 'robbed'
Rapper Rod Wave has been arrested and charged with a string of offences after his home was robbed. Born Rodarius Marcell Green, the American rapper, singer, and songwriter first rose to fame in 2019 with his single Heart on Ice, which went viral on TikTok before peaking at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut studio album Ghetto Gospel then went on to peak at number ten on the US Billboard 200. In the five years since he's released a further five albums, the most recent being 2024's Last Lap. That release debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, marking his seventh consecutive top ten album, and making him the only male artist to release a top ten album each year from 2019 to 2024. Green has also sold 65 million digital copies in the United States, making him one of the highest certified artists in the United States and he's also been nominated for a American Music Award and Billboard Music Award. However, this week the 26-year-old was arrested and charged with 14 counts including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and felony tampering with evidence. Variety has reported the musician was detained in Fulton County, Georgia and released on $50,000 (£37,000) bond yesterday. The arrest was connected to an incident that took place on April 21 when the rapper 'returned to his home following a burglary'. 'At his residence, an argument ensued, and a pistol was fired 14 times, striking several cars and a wall in the home.' In an incident report obtained by USA Today, Green and his girlfriend are listed as victims of an April 21 burglary at their Georgia home, after which Milton County Police officers were dispatched to a home in response to a domestic dispute where 'neighbours were yelling and screaming outside'. The report stated that an officer found a woman crying, who said that when returning home from out of town that night, she found their home had been burgled. When inspecting the property, officers found a broken window, an emptied safe in the basement, bullet casings on the stairs leading up to the driveway, a gold Mercedes-Benz G Wagon riddled with bullets and a black Rolls-Royce with one bullet hole. A black handgun was also found on the scene. The woman told officers Green was not home but planned to return the next day. It is unclear how the incident relates to his charges. In a statement provided to Variety, Green's attorney Drew Findling said: 'There is no truth to these charges [against his client]. Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favourably to Mr. Green.' Green had previously been arrested for possession of ammunition or a weapon in Florida in April 2024 after police suspected he'd been involved in a gang-related shooting that left four injured. More Trending In 2022, he was also arrested and charged with battery by strangulation in the same state after being accused of accused of choking an ex-girlfriend while their two children were inside the home. The charge was later dismissed, with his lawyer calling the incident a 'misunderstanding'. Green is reported to be the 21st highest-grossing touring rapper of all time, earning $36 million from 31 shows. Got a story? Houston Rapper Sauce Walka Shot in Targeted Attack, But That's Not All...
After being the target of a shooting, rapper Sauce Walka is happy to be alive. However, the person he was with was not so fortunate. Over the weekend, according to a report from the Memphis Police Department (MPD), local authorities responded to a shooting at the Westin Hotel near W. 2nd Street and Beale Street in downtown Memphis outside the FedEx Forum (the arena where the Memphis Grizzlies play). They noted that the attack was 'an isolated incident' and not a 'random act' of violence. A representative with Memphis Police said on the scene that the two men 'were outside by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle pulled up. Multiple people got out of that vehicle, fired shots without engaging in any conversation, they got back into the white vehicle and fled.' On Sunday, March 23, TMZ reported that the man who was transported to the hospital in 'non-critical' condition was Houston rapper Sauce Walka, born Albert Walker Mondane. He was shot in the thigh in broad daylight and is expected to make a full recovery. The person Walka was shopping with on the day of the shooting, who was killed during the attack, was later identified as 27-year-old Latorian Hunt, a rapper who goes by the name Sayso P. More from FOX 13 Memphis: According to sources, Hunt was originally from Raleigh and was known to be an up-and-coming rap artist who had recently signed to a record label with the man who survived the shooting, well-known Houston rapper Albert Walker Mondane, also known as Sauce Walka. In a new video shared on social media, Sauce Walka appears to be in good spirits. Others sent their thoughts and prayers to Walka, including Super Bowl champion C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who wished the 'Ghetto Gospel' artist a 'speedy recovery' on Instagram. He also said, 'God please cover us in these dark days.' According to the MPD, authorities are still investigating the shooting and have not identified a suspect in the case. For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
