Last season, Pitino led the Red Storm to an impressive 31-5 record. He took them on a run to the NCAA Tournament.

As a No. 2 seed in the tournament, St. John's started off with a first round win over Omaha. Following the big win, Pitino and company came up short against John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks. That loss ended their season.
Looking ahead to the 2025-26 college basketball season, the Red Storm are receiving a lot of hype. A new ranking has been released that shows the hype clearly.
In a column on FanDuel, Jon Rothstein reveled his early rankings. He has Pitino's team coming in at No. 3 on the list.
Pitino did have some key losses throughout the offseason. RJ Luis was the biggest loss, while other players left as well. Those other players are Kadary Richmond, Deivon Smith, Aaron Scott, and Simeon Wilcher.

To replace the talent that left the program, St. John's brought in players as well. Joson Sanon, Bryce Hopkins, Oziyah Sellers, Ian Jackson, Dillon Mitchell, Imran Suljanovic, Dylan Darling, Handje Tamba, and Kelvin Odih have all joined the team and will look to take the Red Storm to the next level.

With Pitino leading the way, St. John's will always have a chance. He is a living legend in the college basketball world.
Throughout his career leading up to this point, Pitino has compiled a 761-308 record. Despite going through some major issues off the court, Pitino has landed on his feet and is building something very special.

NCAA Softball Tournament reportedly to seed 32 teams beginning with 2026 tournament
Following another exciting college softball season, the NCAA is doubling the number of teams it will seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. According to Softball America, softball will follow the format of college volleyball and women's soccer with the seeding of 32 teams. Only the top 16 seeds, which hosted the regional, were previously seeded. In theory, the committee is seeking to reward the top seeds with "easier" matchups. There will not be a seeding for the rest of the 64-team field. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley gave fans a taste of Bethpage excitement
Take away the massive build-out already in place for the 45th Ryder Cup to be played in late September, and Monday was an otherwise routine day at Bethpage State Park. The driving range was bustling, with every hitting bay occupied by players displaying all fashions — from fancy, name-brand golf attire and gaudy belts to those in cargo shorts, untucked shirts and tattoos covering their arms and legs. By around 1 p.m. around the Red Course, though, the energy changed. Keegan Bradley, the U.S. Ryder Cup captain and an adopted New Yorker as a former player on the St. John's golf team, which played college matches on the Red, was cruising around the course with his wife, Jillian, sitting alongside him in his red captain's golf cart, both sipping transfusion cocktails.

Florida basketball coach Todd Golden ranked No. 10 in Top 50 coaches list. Is that too low?
College Basketball Report released its Top 50 coaches in college basketball on August 14. Coming off leading Florida basketball to a national championship, Florida basketball coach Todd Golden cracked the top 10 of the list at No. 10. Overall, Golden is 76-33 in three seasons with the Florida Gators, with two NCAA Tournament appearances. At 39 years old last April, Golden became the youngest coach since the late Jim Valvano in 1983 to win a national title when he guided UF to a dramatic 65-63 win over Houston in the 2025 national title game. Of the nine coaches ranked ahead of Golden, only three have won national championships. Dan Hurley, ranked No. 1, led UConn to back-to-back national titles in 2023 and 2024. Rick Pitino, at No. 4, led Kentucky to a national title in 1996 and Louisville to a national championship in 2013. Bill Self, at No. 6, led Kansas to national titles in 2008 and 2022. Nate Oats, who led Alabama to one Final Four in 2024 and Bruce Pearl, who led Auburn to Final Fours in 2019 and 2025, are ranked seventh and eighth. Golden is 4-2 head-to-head against Oats and 3-2 head-to-head against Pearl. Given those results, Golden should probably be ranked at least ahead of Oats, if not Pearl, and closer to the top five range. Of course, Golden will get a chance to further cement his status as an elite coach in 2025-26, with starting foward Alex Condon, starting center Rueben Chinyelu and star sixth man Thomas Haugh returning in an effort to defend UF's national title.
