12 summer outfits to wear with silver shoes, because metallics are trending this season

Cosmopolitan2 days ago

Silver shoes are no longer just for party season! After featuring on the spring summer 2025 runways at designers including Alexander McQueen, Dior and Miu Miu, the trend has been picking up pace IRL with many a stylish celebrity (hi, Florence Pugh, plus Lorde and Iris Law, too) as well as fashion insiders getting in on the look in various different forms. We're talking metallic fashion trainers, gleaming Mary Janes and the to-be-expected chrome strappy sandals.
Yep, the trend is surprisingly wearable. Whether you choose to dress up your denim, offset floaty dresses or offer just a glint under sweeping hems of wide-leg trousers, silver shoes provide the perfect finishing touches to *so* many summer outfits. Don't believe us? We've rounded up all the best street style to provide you with endless silver shoe outfit inspo you'll want to recreate ASAP. Prepare to shine bright.
It can be hard to know what colour accessories to wear with floral prints, with multiple hues competing for attention in the busy pattern. Luckily, silver is a neutral, so is almost guaranteed to go while matching the lightness of the flower motifs.
Let your shoes act as a colour pop in a double denim ensemble. Silver flip flops are the perfect in between of not too bright but eye-catching enough thanks to their soft metallic hue and the sandal's minimal silhouette.
Lace skirts and dresses are everywhere right now, and we love the idea of wearing them with trainers to toughen up the look. The silver hue of your shoes will stop the contrast from feeling too heavy.
A monochrome outfit is the easiest way to look chic and expensive. Case in point: Mahalia's tonal grey look that's perfectly finished with coordinating silver accessories.
Whether you opt for heels or flats to wear with your mini, silver shoes with a pointed toe will elongate your legs – a go-to fashion styling trick for a failsafe flattering 'fit.
Monotone dressing is no doubt a trend, but when the one colour you choose is white, your ensemble can end up looking very clean. Introducing an unexpected but edgy silver shoe will instantly elevate your overall look.
What goes better with silver than silver?! A slouchy pair of jeans separating your silver top from your silver ballet flats is key to making this outfit feel laid back and effortlessly cool.
From summer date nights to wedding guest dressing, silver mules provide the perfect finishing touch to your summer dress.
If you're known for wearing black, black and only black (guilty!) try switching your go-to hue for navy blue in the summer months. It's just as wearable but slightly softer, and looks great when paired with silver shoes.
With *so* much silver introduced into one outfit in the form of knee-high boots, you can't go wrong with a denim midi to keep the look wearable.
Go all out in sequins with silver shoes adding maximum shine! Fashion is really all about having fun with your clothes, and we dare you not to have a good time when you're channelling a disco ball.
Lean into the preppy connotations and style your silver Mary Janes with a midi skirt for a chic day-time 'fit.

35 Affordable Product That Look Expensive

A pair of retro-style oval sunglasses that'll have you looking and feeling oh-so-chic because they're so similar to the $500+ Miu Miu shades that have been going viral on TikTok. Protect your eyes and protect your wallet from any unnecessary damage. A vintage-inspired watch if your Apple Watch just isn't doing it for you anymore. This easily adds an extra ~oomph~ and sophistication to any outfit. And if you still rely on a digital clock to know what time it is, this can just be an elegant accessory. A carafe with a matching glass meant to replace all those wasteful plastic water bottles and give a more stylish look to your hydration station (aka your bedside table). For less than $30, this investment is definitely worth it. A pair of "Dreamlux" leggings that are basically #twinning with the Lululemon Aligns, but for a fraction of the price *phew.* Thankfully, these still have a similar buttery soft, squat-proof material, so you'll be looking AND feeling your best in and out of the gym. A spacious bathroom organizer so all your favorite skincare and makeup necessities can have a beautiful place to live without taking up the entire bathroom countertop. Even if your fancy lotions and potions aren't affordable, at least what holds them is! An understated but sleek retro-style baguette purse, because your canvas tote can only do so much for an outfit. The gold detailing and vintage-y snap closure make this shoulder bag look super chic and prove that a great accessory can make any outfit look more lavish. An electric gooseneck kettle that will make you sing 🎶 here is my handle, here is my spout 🎶 with pride because of how neat this is. It has a sleek design and can hold the exact temperature you want for up to two hours, so you can enjoy a hot cup o' tea with every pour. Or, a Smeg-like, but not Smeg-priced, electric kettle featuring a thermometer to get the water to the exact temperature for your extra hot pour-over coffee or your soothing cup of tea. And, it also has an automatic shut-off. A beautiful tennis bracelet that adds just the right amount of "oomph" to your look. This 14-karat gold-plated bracelet looks way more expensive than what you paid and has a durable clasp so you can wear it all day, every day. A pair of pretty pastel wireless over-the-ear headphones designed to look a lot like the AirPods Max, minus the triple-digit price tag. These noise-blocking headphones have cushiony ear pads, a built-in mic, and boast 10 hours of playtime on a single charge. A distinctively shaped flatware set with that sleek, high-end look you'd expect at a $$$-rated restaurant on Yelp. Who knew swapping out your old silverware could instantly elevate your takeout game? And the best part? They're dishwasher-safe! A super soft two-piece pajama set because in order to feel like a sleeping beauty, you gotta look the part, and this swap for the $128 Roller Rabbit PJs will get the job done. Take my advice and don't ~sleep~ on this set. A pair of stunning "convertible" earrings so you can elevate your look in not one way, but in two ways — wear them with the sparkly, bedazzled hoop for extra glam, or remove it for a sleek, classic gold hoop. Or, a pair of statement teardrop earrings, a fashion-forward twist on the classic hoop. Contrary to how chunky they look, reviewers say they are lightweight and a comfortable staple to their earring collection. Bottega Veneta, who?? An Anthro-inspired reversible quilted throw blanket to instantly add a pop of color to your plain bedroom without having to shell out hundreds to achieve that boho vibe. It comes in a ton of prints, and reviewers say it's not too heavy and not too light, making it juusstt right for your bedroom decor. Or a popular checkerboard throw blanket that gives the Barefoot Dreams version a run for its money since it basically matches the quality, softness, and durability without making you roll over when you see the price. A set of Glamnetic press-on nails, which have convinced some reviewers to never go back to the salon again! The full set lasts for two weeks, is super durable, and looks like your real nails! They come in so many different designs and are a fraction of the price of real acrylics. An oh-so-classic pair of slip-on pointed toe ballet flats if you're wanting a shoe that looks like the Rothy's version, but can't justify the $160 price tag. These give you that same breathable fabric and are designed for all-day wear, so you can be struttin' your stuff with no blisters in sight! A plated clover bracelet so you can trick people into thinking you spent a whole $4,600 on a Van Cleef bracelet. It'll be a perfect addition to any stack or look just as great on its own. A pair of gorgeous kitchen shears that you'll want to whip out for everything from cutting meats and herbs to opening packages. Reviewers love how sharp the blades are and how they are dishwasher safe. Tie-front satin PJs so beautiful and luxurious-looking that you'll start to question if these even count as pajamas. They look *and* feel way more expensive than they are and come in so many colors! An elegant set of square wineglasses great if you want something just a little fancier than the traditional wineglass. These look way more expensive than they are and can turn any boring drink into a ~luxurious experience.~ A bodycon lounge dress for those who want to look a little casual, classic, and sassy all in one. Reviewers say this super soft, Skims-like fabric will give you a chic silhouette, and they say it's super breathable, making it perfect for the warm weather days ahead. A dimmable candle warmer, which adds an antique yet modern look to your desk or nightstand. It comes with not one but two halogen light bulbs, so you don't have to go out and find the right light bulb for this cozy decorative piece. As Kacey Musgraves once said, I'm alright with a slow burrrrnnnnn. A cross-hatch tissue holder so when someone does an "achooo," they can also do an "oooh" and an "ahhh" because your Kleenex box will look like a designer item with this little cover over it. A pair of palazzo pants if you love the flowy feel of your wide-leg pajama pants and sweats, but want to feel a little more polished for your in-office work days. They're also a great alternative to jeans if the dress code is more "smart casual" than just casual. An elegant pleated clutch to elevate your look and beautifully hold all your must-have items. You can hold it as a traditional clutch or use the long strap to make it a stylish crossbody bag. A safety razor that will convince you to ~cut~ out all those plastic disposable razors and invest in something that will give you a nice clean shave and look great on your bathroom countertop. A metallic ponytail cover so your signature high pony can have an elegant upgrade. This attaches onto your regular elastic and makes such a difference in creating a cute and sophisticated look. A rhinestone bag perfect for when you're going for a night out on the town with your besties. It'll drape beautifully over your shoulder, and pro tip: make sure you use the flash when you get pics with this so it can really ✨shine.✨ A cherry bag charm that could easily be mistaken for the $95 Coach version. Reviewers love how they can swap it between bags because of the handy clip and that it's durable to boot! It'll definitely be the cherry on top for crafting your stylish look. A cute set of glass coffee syrup dispensers to make it really feel like you got the whole barista setup at home. So when you need an extra pump of vanilla to get you through your first 30 minutes of WFH, you'll be so glad you have these. Plus, they even come with labels to make it look even more luxurious. A marble board wire cheese cutter, a goud-addition to your kitchen tools. Now you don't have to spend time cutting slices of cheese for your guests because they can just do it themselves and be awed by the stylish tool. A sleek time-marked water bottle meant to give you some hydration motivation. Not only is it lightweight and leakproof, but it looks way chicer than a clunky Stanley cup. It might just be me, but if something is this cute, it makes me want to use it as much as possible. A satin midi skirt to add a sophisticated touch to your casual outfit, or be the base piece to build off of for your date night out. Reviewers love the elastic waistband and how it looks super expensive despite the reasonable price. When you realize that the leggings that feel like Lululemon are actually affordable as heck: Reviews for this post have been edited for length and/or clarity.

Dianna Agron's New French Accent Reactions

You know Dianna Agron from a few things — especially Glee. Got it? OK, now watch this video of Dianna for Vanity Fair as she got ready for a Miu Miu-sponsored lunch at the Cannes Film Festival. Again, focus on the voice. Notice Throughout the clip, Dianna's accent It sounds a little French, even — which makes sense, on a level, because she is at Cannes, and is (very performatively) speaking French at several points. But even when she speaks English in the video, she sounds...a little European. The whole thing is, to say the least, highly confusing. And the commenters agree: Several people compared the situation to Hilaria Baldwin's very similar faux-accent trickiness: But, hey — as one person pointed out, it could be a lot worse! Will Dianna comment on the hubbub? Will she use her actual voice if she does? Time will tell!

It's Officially Shoe Charm Summer — Here's How to Refresh Your Everyday Sneakers With Personal Flair.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. In case you haven't heard, personalization is in when making a fashion statement this summer. And while handbags are still fertile ground for this kind of expression — 'Jane Birkin-ifying' your bag by loading it up with tassels and trinkets is something that's perennially appealing — shoe charms have had a meteoric rise since spring. If you ask us, they're the newest (and coolest) way to infuse character into your warm-weather ensembles. Our perceptive, chronically online shopping editors predicted this trend a few months ago, and, by now, there's no shortage of inspiration for the taking on how to elevate the looks of your everyday sneakers vis-à-vis baubles, lace clips, chains, pom poms, and other decorations. More from WWD We Tested Dozens of SPF Lip Balms - These Are the Tinted Ones You'll Want to Reapply. Gigi Hadid Just Confirmed the Anklet Trend Resurgence for Summer 2025 The TikTok-Loved On Cloud 6 Shoe Is Now Available in Summer 2025's Trending Butter Yellow Colorway Back when we first reported on shoe charms, there weren't many statistics available to quantify their emerging popularity. But this spring alone, per the trend forecasting platform Trendalytics, average weekly TikTok posts featuring shoe charms have spiked by 217 percent, proving the trend isn't exclusive to the runways. During its spring 2025 show, Miu Miu pampered the Plume, Tyre, and Gymnasium sneakers with the ultimate charm treatment, marked by clip-on and thread-through additions that included cutesy fabric pinwheels. Coach, too, didn't shy away from a little footwear playfulness at New York Fashion Week last year, for which the brand's Soho Sneaker was introduced to childlike whimsy — by way of prominent charms taking up prime real estate on the shoe's upper and, understandably, attracting all the attention. Both Miu Miu and Coach saw the traction these brand moments received and proceeded to successfully leverage it, by finally making their designer shoe charms shoppable. Last month, Miu Miu released leather tassels (which it playfully calls 'tricks'), color-happy cord laces, and delightful brooches on its site — in a special section called the Custom Studio, which allows you to grab the brand's low-profile runners and cult-favorite handbags in the same breath to easily formulate your distinctive styling equation. As another example of a luxury shoe charm hard launch we couldn't be more excited to see, Coach restocked its Taxi Shoe Charm and Vintage Car Shoe Charm, alongside a dice one (Coach, if you're reading this, we're still patiently waiting on your deer charm!). While most footwear accessories that can be attached to laces tend to skew smaller, there's nothing itty-bitty or demure about Coach's take, seeing as how the vehicles measure over five inches in length and the dice clocks in at 1.75 inches for that metric. Want a one-and-done kind of purchase? Invest in the '90s Pack Soho Sneaker With Charms from Coach, which offers access to '90s-inspired, much-less-bulky charms you can't buy separately: like a cassette tape, cell phone, and tiny dice that won't add any extra weight to your walk. Maximalism is clearly alive and well, with our favorite tastemakers acting as cosigners when it comes to shoe charm–based personality statements. For Coach's NYFW show this February, Ella Emhoff tapped into the trend with the brand's deer charm placed on a Soho Sneaker that was further DIY'ed with fanciful doodles. The accessory naturally turned the gaze downward and granted refreshing contrast to her darker, suede-powered outfit. Influencer Giovanna Ramos also took the opportunity to don not just one but two charms on her white sneakers during Coach's runway event. Buy coach's soho sneakers here As for Miu Miu's leather shoe ornaments, they're finding just as many celebrity devotees. Sydney Sweeney, for one, posted a photo and video of herself sitting in an RV in April: showing off her white Plume Suede Sneakers taken to colorful heights through an assortment of Miu Miu shoe charms and three different kinds of laces, for good measure. Fashion influencer Aimee Song's version of a Plume-fueled getup was one punctuated by a suede midi skirt and jacket, crew socks, and cool-girl shades made more modish by the fact that she was skateboarding while wearing Miu Miu's charmed-up shoes. Other brands are paying attention to these shoe charm updates and following suit, with the release of the exclusive Nike Cortez sneakers in collaboration with Printemps Paris' first store in NYC (dolled up, as they are, with elegant charms on the laces) and, more recently, the adidas x UnheardOf 'Grandma's Couch 2' Rivalry Low sneakers, topped with a keychain holding floral charms. Nike has also entered the shoe charm chat, but not through a collab. Instead, its women's Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Aluminum' shoe drop this month marks a new colorway addition that's amped up by removable appliqué. While you can skip some steps and buy a shoe pre-loaded with charms, TikTokers are demonstrating the power of a little self-initiated craftiness — with videos racking up thousands of views, in which they pair a green-striped Adidas Gazelle with on-trend cherry charms; whip up their own versions of the ultra-popular ballerina sneaker by swapping regular laces for ribbon ones, but not before threading pearl-bedecked charms through them; or else help an all-white Chuck Taylor All Star Lugged Heel Platform give off major Y2K vibes with glass beads. This latter case makes it clear that shoe charms don't only look good on slim silhouettes; the whole point of the endeavor, after all, is to think outside the (shoe)box. It's safe to say that the craze surrounding shoe personalization had its genesis during the golden age of Crocs Jibbitz, which are retaining their appeal thanks to buzzy partnerships with luxury brands like Simone Rocha and Swarovski. High-end labels are actively contributing to this fixation in their own right; it's quite en vogue right now, for example, to have on-site activations at designer stores that allow customers to walk away with a shoe that's uniquely theirs. Golden Goose's experiential retail space in NYC epitomizes the concept in its Co-Creation Bar: a section of the store where eager individuals can customize their acquisitions with patches, charms, pins, brooches, crystals, studs, embroidery, paint, and the like. As early as at the beginning of this year, A-listers were already on board with this hands-on approach to revamping their footwear. Offset, for instance, looked like he was having fun choosing which gilded clip-ons to put on his Air Force 1s during an event held by Nike and Coastal Caviar back in February. 'It's official,' the TikTok video's on-screen text reads. 'Real men love charms.' Beyond shoes, people are also paying more attention to what goes on their ankles with the present-day boom of the anklet trend. Anklets are nothing new, of course; one look back at early aughts red carpets and the bling choices of Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton is enough to confirm that. Yet, like many 2000s trends, this one's having a massive renaissance at the moment. Rihanna recently managed to make her now-sold-out, lime-green Fenty x Puma Cat Cleat Jelly sandals even louder, courtesy of anklet stacks and a bedazzled toe chain; Kylie Jenner leaned into fancy ankle jewels with a double-wrapped Chanel anklet; and Kim Kardashian followed suit with diamond anklets worn while barefoot on a beach. Though we've yet to see both shoe charms and ankle bracelets simultaneously embraced by celebrities, it's only a matter of time until the accessories link up, which we can bet will be the case for summer 2025. Ready to become the walk of the town? Below are all the shoe charms (and anklets, because why not?) we're adding to cart today, as well as the sneaker styles that make them especially worth it. $95 Buy Now at coach Coach's spring 2025 runway show, during which the charm-clad Soho Sneaker debuted, ended up being an ode to New York through a youthful lens. This yellow cab charm in particular is an appropriate symbol of the city: right up there with a pretzel and a pigeon. Show off your urban side with this charmer, while giving white sneakers some much-needed yellow zest. $95 Buy Now at coach This vintage pink car's only flaw is that you won't be able to take it for a real test drive, but sporting it on your shoes will have to suffice. Coach recommends twisting the charm asymmetrically once it's threaded through your laces for an even quirkier look. $65 Buy Now at coach Ready to try your luck and roll the dice? This resin object is bigger than you think, meaning placing it on top of your shoes will make you all the luckier. $798 Buy Now at adina reyter Fine jewelry designer Adina Reyter's horseshoe charm is incredibly simple to thread through your laces, continuing that whole luck motif put into motion by Coach's dice charm. The yellow-gold stunner was made with necklaces in mind, but that shouldn't stop you from writing your own sartorial narrative. $249.99 Buy Now at kay jewelers Can't resist adding a touch of glam to your everyday shoes? Enter: this sterling-silver bar charm, paved with six round-cut sapphires. Crafted especially for sneakers, think of it as an instant upgrade to your kicks' toe vamps that will make your entire ensemble look a lot more upscale. $75 Buy Now at shopbop While swapping standard nylon laces for pearl strands might be an impractical venture, clipping on two little pearl bows at your sneakers' centers is an effortless maneuver that will pay dividends in sheer beauty. As many TikTokers make clear, pearls go amazingly well with organza ribbons, gilded charms, and pastel-colored shoes as a foundation for all those feminine flourishes. $86 Buy Now at notte jewelry Lorde wore a silver fish charm in her Met Gala braided hair this year, and this is further proof that the fisherman aesthetic is here to stay. Pay your respects through fish-themed shoe charms such as these, which are actually earrings whose hoops you can easily attach to laces. High quality here is a guarantee, based on that handmade glass, freshwater pearls, gold-plated brass, and other top-tier, dazzling materials used to make the set. $75 Buy Now at nordstrom Maison de Sabré's zippable bags charms — which you can place on everything from totes to wallets for extra space — are icons, so who says you can't break the rules a bit and clip one somewhere on your sneaker's upper? This tiny blueberry charm is the most delicious conversation starter and a way to keep your arcade coins close by as you skip around town. $95 Buy Now at ana luisa A sneaker on a sneaker? This shoe charm purchase's irony is not lost on us. Beyond the looks and laughs the Ana Luisa mini sneaker will inspire, it also benefits from a 10-karat, solid-gold construction and a light weight (0.34 grams, to be exact) that won't interfere with all your city walking. $9 $15 40% off Buy Now at nordstrom Not satisfied with just one charm? Here are eight. These gold-plated gems aren't luxe, but that will make you less fearful of accidentally losing one. We're especially fond of the croissant, cherry cluster (in line with the cherry-everything trend called out in 2025's Pinterest Predicts report), and crescent moon. A white or pale-pink shoe will serve as the ideal carte blanche on which these charms can glitter and dazzle. $30 Buy Now at free people If you're feeling a bit grunge lately, convey it with the help of this silver charm set featuring a safety pin, chains, and various spiritual symbols. The charms will absolutely pop over a jewel-toned shoe (think indigo suede), while adding priceless edge to your look. $50 Buy Now at roxanne assoulin It's never too late or too early to flaunt your romantic tendencies in an obvious way. This heart charm from Roxanne Assoulin comes in many other emoji-inspired shades — in case you don't approve of the Millennial pink that's been coming back with a vengeance — and the one-inch piece can also be reused on bracelets, necklaces, or your key carabiner. $16 Buy Now at free people As an homage of sorts to 2025's boho-chic revival and the general buzz around music festival attire, secure these bandana strands onto your favorite pair of shoes. In yellow, the braided beauts are quite summery, and that fabric will ensure a lightweight feel you'll be grateful for. $73 Buy Now at snidel Foolproof options for softening the sportiness and rigidity of Nike Air Force 1s or similar styles, these floral accents include pearls and gold-tone add-ons for a sprinkling of luxury. Suddenly, your sneakers will become just-right for pairing with one of the best spring dresses or wearing out to date nights and other special occasions that call for a bit more oomph style-wise. $720 Buy Now at oscar de la renta Though this is also technically a bag charm, technicality goes out the window after the first glance at this precious chain-link charm from Oscar de la Renta — which stuns with its many-colored glass crystals in the shape of the luxury brand's logo. Stretch it from eyelet to eyelet, and make sure those clasps are secure. This is the one shoe charm you won't be OK with losing. $110 Buy Now at neiman marcus To ace Beyoncé and Bella Hadid's aesthetic of choice — cowboy core, of course — look no further than this delightful brass-and-glass charm that takes the form of a cowboy hat. Though it will feel right at home on Golden Goose's bead-embellished Super-Star Sneaker, every shoe under the sun will be leveled up by the ornament that harkens back to the lawless, rugged days of the Wild West. $69 $115 40% off Buy Now at fwrd $115 Buy Now at nordstrom $22.95 Buy Now at amazon $15 Buy Now at urban outfitters $60 Buy Now at dorsey $175 Buy Now at coach $90 Buy Now at nike $115 Buy Now at nike $89.99 Buy Now at new balance $110 Buy Now at puma For more than 75 years, Footwear News has been the shoe authority.
