MOE probes claim Pakistani national officiated school sports event in Kerian
IPOH: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is investigating claims that a Pakistani national officiated a school sports event in Kerian, Perak. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek confirmed the probe when approached by reporters after attending the Perak-level Maal Hijrah 1447H celebration.
A viral social media video showed the man being given the honour of launching an athletics meet at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sama Gagah in Simpang Empat Semanggol. Fadhlina stated, 'We are looking into the matter,' but did not provide further details.
Separately, Fadhlina expressed gratitude to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, for posthumously awarding her late mother, Datin Dr Siti Zalikhah Md Nor, the Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Award. Her mother was a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a staunch advocate of syariah law.
'Empowering women in all aspects was her life's work and area of expertise,' Fadhlina said. She accepted the award on behalf of her late mother during the ceremony.

Melaka first state to introduce 'lafaz taklik' document in Braille
MELAKA: Melaka has become the first state in the country to provide the "lafaz taklik' document in Braille for the visually impaired (PwD) community, as part of efforts to facilitate the process of declaring marriage agreement during their solemnisation. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof said the initiative marks a significant step towards inclusive empowerment in Syariah legislation, as it not only allows PwD couples to fully understand their marriage vows, but also reflects the commitment of religious authorities and marriage institutions to ensure justice and inclusivity for all segments of society. "Congratulations to the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) for its efforts to support the PwD community by diversifying initiatives that simplify procedures for them to understand and declare taklik through Braille. "This, in turn, serves as an example of how the values of Hijrah can be translated into reform and improvement, bringing religion and Islamic teachings closer to every level of society, regardless of ability or condition,' he said. Ex-Johor mufti Dr Nooh Gadut named National Tokoh Maal Hijrah
KUALA LUMPUR: Religious advisor to the Sultan of Johor and former Johor mufti Datuk Dr Nooh Gadut was today announced as this year's National Tokoh Maal Hijrah. The Saudi Arabian Minister of Haj and Umrah Dr Tawfig Fawzan Muhammed Al-Rabiah, meanwhile, was named the International Tokoh Maal Hijrah. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, presented the awards to the two recipients at a ceremony held in conjunction with the national-level Maal Hijrah 1447H celebration at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre today. Present was Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim.
