Egyptian Film ‘Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo' set for US premiere
Egyptian filmmaker Khaled Mansour's feature film Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo is set to make its US debut at the 40th Santa Barbara International Film Festival, with screenings scheduled for February 9, 11, and 14, 2025.
Produced by Mohamed Hefzy through Film Clinic and marking Rasha Hosny's debut as a feature film producer, the film's global distribution is managed by Film Clinic Indie Distribution. Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo has already garnered several awards, including the Visual Identity and DCP Services Award from Creative Media Solutions at the fifth Amman Film Industry Days (AFID) and Amman Project Market. Additionally, it received production grants from the Red Sea Film Fund, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and Fonds Image de la Francophoni.
Written by Mohamed El-Hosseiny and Khaled Mansour, the drama stars Essam Omar, Rakin Saad, Sama Ibrahim and Ahmed Bahaa.
Seeking Haven For Mr. Rambo tells the story of a young man confronting his past fears to save his dog and best friend from an uncertain fate.
Hassan is a man in his thirties, living with his mother and Rambo, his dog and best friend, in a poor neighbourhood. He hates having a steady job, but his mother pressures him to keep one so he can assist her with their daily expenses.
After his mother threatens to cut off the little money she gives him, he decides to go back to his old job, working for Shiko as a sandwich seller. One night, when Hassan returns home, he gets into a fight with Karem, a neighbour working as a car mechanic. Hassan is hit hard, and in his defence, Rambo rushes down and bites Karem in the crotch.
When Karem recovers, he tries to vindicate his lost pride. People of the neighbourhood suggest that Rambo is given to Karem, yet Hassan disagrees to such a deal, finding himself in a tough spot.
Assisted by his friend Ahmed, who works in a poor governmental veterinary hospital, and Asmaa, a girl who loves Hassan, the protagonist begins a journey in which he attempts to move Rambo to a safe place within the country. Unfortunately, with Karem's connections within their neighbourhood, Hassan is being watched everywhere he goes.
With the help of Jamila, an animal aid activist, Hassan finally succeeds in finding a shelter for his dog outside of the country. This drives Karem mad, and so Hassan and his mother are kicked out of their home, and left with an unknown fate.

This includes features such as multilingual translation services, the ability to automatically broadcast concerts and events on satellite channels, and high-quality sound and lighting systems to enhance the audience's experience. His Highness inscribed a message in the House's VIP Book, stating, "I was truly honored to visit the City of Arts and Culture. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to everyone responsible for this magnificent cultural landmark." Hunna launches 2025 Mentorship Programme for female Saudi musicians
From July to November, monthly workshops will feature leading regional and international women sharing insights on production, live performance, artist strategy and global positioning. Hunna, a women-led initiative dedicated to championing female talent across the MENA music scene, has launched its 2025 Mentorship Programme and workshop series in Saudi Arabia. The initiative will connect emerging female artists with established industry mentors while hosting workshops and community events across the region in the lead-up to XP Music Futures in Riyadh from December 4 to 6, according to a report by Al Arabiya English. Now in its third edition, the flagship programme builds on Hunna's mission to professionalise, amplify and connect women in music. The network, which has more than 120 active members from Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and beyond, aims to equip women creatives with the resources, connections, and visibility needed to succeed in an evolving global music industry. Six mentees from the MENA region and its diaspora were selected through a rigorous, anonymised process led by the Hunna Committee, a diverse panel of industry professionals and past mentees. The 2025 mentor-mentee pairings include Tunisian music entrepreneur Chaima Soudani with Celine Hitti, Head of Artist Services MENA at Believe; electronic-pop artist Nadine Lingawi ('Fulana') with Emmy-nominated composer and BBC Radio 3 presenter Hannah Peel; Egyptian multi-instrumentalist Martina Ashraf with Montréal-based experimental electronic artist Liliane Chlela; Saudi composer and pianist Nora Aljebrin with Tarabband lead vocalist Nadin Al Khalidi; DJ and producer Lena Chercaoui with Saudi DJ pioneer Cosmicat; and Palestinian-Jordanian vocalist Lina Sleibi with singer-songwriter and visual creative Lina Makoul. Star-studded premiere of ‘Darwish' lights up Vox Cinemas Egypt
The film is a co-production between One to One, Film Clinic, Vox Studios and Film Square. The Egyptian feature film Darwish premiered in Egypt with a red-carpet event at Vox Cinemas, Mall of Egypt, immersing guests in the movie's nostalgic world.
