A New York tourist has been killed while visiting Puerto Rico for a Bad Bunny concert
Kevin Mares, 25, was fatally shot in La Perla, a shantytown along the coast near Old San Juan, early Sunday while visiting the island for Bad Bunny's concert residency.
Police told the Associated Press that Mares was next to a fight which broke out at a local bar called 'Shelter for Mistreated Men.'
One man involved allegedly pulled a gun and opened fire, striking at least three people.
Mares was hit in the left side of his abdomen and rushed to the island's largest public hospital.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two local men from La Perla were also injured and remain hospitalized.
'We're still in the early stages of establishing a motive,' homicide detective Sgt. Arnaldo Ruiz told local media, according to El Nuevo Dia. 'We can't rule anything out until the interviews are completed.'
Ruiz said Mares had flown to Puerto Rico with three friends from New York for one of Bad Bunny's 30 sold-out shows.
His latest Instagram stories shows recent videos from his hotel room and the concert.
His girlfriend shared various footage from their evening up until her final, devastating post.
Her latest post is a heartbreaking tribute reading: 'I love you my angel.'

Shameful scenes on Australia's doorstep as jeering male mob chases woman through the grounds of Papua New Guinea uni campus

Outrage is growing over a disturbing video of a woman being heckled and assaulted by a jeering mob of men as she walked through the grounds of a university in Papua New Guinea late at night. Viral video showed the woman covering her ears as she was pursued by dozens of leering men through the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae - the country's second largest city. Local media claimed the woman was being escorted off the grounds by two university security guards, but a two-minute video showed her being jeered at and assaulted by a mob of men. At one point she tried to fight them off as they swarmed and taunted her. The woman tries to cover her ears before she is then hit on the back by what appears to be an egg. The clip has sparked a furious backlash on local social media, prompting the Unitech Chancellor, Sam Koim to condemn the 'animalistic behaviour'. 'The behaviour displayed is unacceptable and has no place in our University,' he said. 'At Unitech, we strive for academic excellence and to produce young, civilised men and women who will contribute positively to society. Animalistic and mob behaviour has no place here.' Mr Koim said the university had launched an investigation. The university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ora Renagi, also 'strongly condemn(ed) the behaviour and actions of the students'. 'The video showing a young woman being harassed by a group of students on our campus is deeply disturbing,' he said in a statement. 'Let me be clear: mob behaviour is unacceptable, harassment is a crime and such actions will not be tolerated.' Prof Renagi said a full investigation had been launched into the incident and people identified in the video would face disciplinary or legal action. It comes as Papua New Guinea is due to mark the 50th anniversary of its independence next month. But the country, which sits just 150km from mainland Australia in the Pacific Ocean, is riven by some of the world's highest rates of violence against women. The Australian government has provided an estimated $3.1 billion in aid and loans to Papua New Guinea since 2020, according to figures from the Official Development Assistance. This includes a $600 million, 10-year deal to fund a rugby league side based in Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby. 'Rugby league is PNG's national sport and PNG deserved a national team, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said last December during a meeting with PNG President James Marape. 'The new team will belong to the people of PNG. It will call Port Moresby home. 'It will have millions of proud fans barracking for it for day one. Not just in PNG but I suspect many Australians will adopt the PNG team.'

'Shocking and brutal' on priest may be linked to man's murder

A man's death may be linked to a "brutal" attack on a priest in a church, police have said. Officers have begun a murder investigation after receiving a report that a man was found dead in Co Down. The discovery was made at an address in the Marian Park area of Downpatrick at about 12pm on Sunday. Police have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he is in custody. This comes after a priest was left in a serious condition in hospital following a "brutal attack" in a church in Downpatrick on Sunday morning. It was reported to police that at about 10.10am, a man walked into St Patrick's Church and hit Fr John Murray on the head with a bottle. Superintendent Norman Haslett, district commander for Newry, Mourne and Down, said officers suspect the murder may be linked to the attack on the priest. "Inquiries are at an early stage and, at this time, we suspect this may be connected to a serious assault in the St Patrick's Avenue area of Downpatrick on Sunday," he said. Detective Chief Inspector David McBurney said it was a "brutal attack" on the priest and appealed for people with information to come forward. Sinn Fein MP for South Down, Chris Hazzard, said the attack on the priest and the death of the man in Downpatrick were "deeply shocking". "The death of a man, along with the vicious attack on Fr Murray in St Patrick's Church, has deeply saddened and horrified the local community," he said. DUP MLA for South Down, Diane Forsythe, condemned the "disgraceful attack on a religious leader in a place of worship". Of the two incidents, she said: "There is no place for violent attacks in our society. "My thoughts and prayers are with the entire community as they process this devastating murder as well as the serious assault earlier today." Alliance South Down MLA Andrew McMurray said the incidents had left many in the local community "in shock on what should be a day of peace and rest".
