Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Carl Niehaus has fired shots at his former comrade, the axed MK Party chief whip, Mzwanele Manyi, calling him an opportunist, and warning that instability and ideological decay will continue to plague the party's ranks.
In a social media comment on IOL's report, Niehaus laughed off Manyi's dismissal, stating that more should be expected.
Niehaus said: 'LOL, I warned this chap. Anyhow he - and the other opportunists like him - made their bed of thorns, now let them sleep on it.
'Mark my words: the musical chairs will continue there in the merry-go-round party, there is no ideological centre that holds.'
Manyi has been dismissed from his position in parliament, IOL reported on Tuesday morning.
Colleen Makhubele has been appointed as the new Chief Whip of MKP.

The announcement began circulating on MK Party WhatsApp groups but has now been confirmed to IOL by the MK Party's Deputy Chief Whip, Muzi Ntshingila.
The WhatsApp message reads: "Please be informed that Hon. Mzwanele Manyi has been relieved of his duties as Chief Whip with immediate effect. We thank him for his service and dedication to the MK Party and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
"We are pleased to announce that Hon. Colleen Makhubele has been appointed as the new Chief Whip of the MK Party. We are confident that she will lead with strength and vision as we continue to advance our collective mission".
One senior party official told IOL that his arrogance finally caused him to fall on his sword.
'He fails to listen and protect his caucus and wants to shine in the media alone and not give anyone a chance,' the party official said.
According to Niehaus, such acts will be carried out through the same process.

Tristan Tate defends Dricus against 'racist' comments
Tristan Tate – the brother of Andrew Tate – has defended Dricus du Plessis against critics who labelled him a 'racist'. Like the former UFC Middleweight World Champion, Tristan is known for his outspoken views on farm killings, 'white genocide,' and his endorsement of US President Donald Trump. Tristan, like Andrew, is also a former professional kickboxer. On his X account, Tristan Tate defended Dricus du Plessis against his critics. Tagging the former UFC Middleweight World Champion, Tristan posted: 'The hate @dricusduplessis is getting from people is totally unjustified.' He added, 'Chin up, champ, ignore the noise'. Tristan previously defended Dricus after fellow UFC fighter Israel 'Izzy' Adesanya claimed that the South African was 'not African'. He posted: 'Saying @dricusduplessis isn't African because he's white is super racist. 'He's African and so is Elon, do none of you know basic history?'. On X, many South Africans have accused Dricus of being a 'racist' after he publicly praised US President Donald Trump, who accused South Africa of promoting a 'white genocide'. Earlier this year, the 31-year-old said of the newly re-elected statesman: 'He is amazing, and I've had the privilege of meeting him. 'He said good changes are coming. He's holding many people and countries accountable for everything, and it's amazing to see'. Dricus also gave a 'big shout out to fellow South African Elon Musk for also doing the right thing.' Dricus du Plessis has praised Donald Trump and Elon Musk for speaking out about South Africa. Images via Instagram: @ufc Dricus – who has been vocal about farm killings – also infamously criticised South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Speaking to US interviewer Nina Drama ahead of his UFC title fight last year, the Pretoria MMA fighter accused the government of 'screwing up' the country. He said: 'It's the worst government in the world by a long shot. We are truly and exceptionally s**t…it's the most corrupt in the world.' He continued: 'Our country is beautiful, the people are amazing…..There are a lot of great people doing great work. But I have to say, the government is terrible. Do I admit the tenacity with which they screw up? It's astonishing'. Of President Cyril Ramaphosa, he added: 'He takes all the money.' ANC spokesperson shamed for 'overeating' at National Dialogue
eNCA news anchor Andrew Barnes has issued a public apology to ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu after he shamed her for overeating at the National Dialogue. The convention – which is open to the public – kicked off on Friday, 15 August at the University of South Africa (UNISA)'s main campus in Pretoria. It will continue for several months and will facilitate direct communication between the government and the public. In a clip that has gone viral on social media, eNCA's Andrew Barnes commented on ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu's appearance at the National Dialogue. He said during a live segment: 'I hope the ANC spokeswoman is no longer hungry. She helped herself no less than twice to the crew's sandwiches'. He added, 'Love her'. The clip left many government officials outraged over the journalist's comments. Gauteng Premier Penyaza Lesufi posted on X: 'I hope eNCA will act decisively. He will never say this to Helen Zille or AfriForum'. The president's spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, added, 'This is outside of free speech and totally uncalled for.' Mahlengi Bhengu responded to being fat-shamed at the National Dialogue, tweeting: 'Self-entitled condescension at its pitiful level. Embarrassed at such a lack of class. 'The ANC Communications has a great rapport with ENCA colleagues. The sandwich Marshall cannot fathom'. Bhengu also demanded a public apology. Following the backlash, eNCA's Andrew Barnes issued a public apology via his X account. He said, 'At the time, I thought I was being cheeky and clever, but I've since been made to understand just how very deep those comments cut, not just to the ANC national spokesperson but for women across the country. '[The National Dialogue] touched on the very issues we're talking about at the national convention: race, identity, and a lack of respect. But they also cut very personally, and I never go out to intentionally hurt anyone's feelings. But I'm sorry.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Sassa defends pension grant suspensions as legal obligation
Grant recipients must inform Sassa about any changes in their circumstances. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has defended its suspension of pension grants to elderly citizens. The agency says it is legally compelled to review grants when changes in beneficiaries' circumstances are suspected. Social Development Minister Nokuzola Sisisi Tolashe responded to parliamentary questions about the controversial suspensions. MK Party MP Zelna Saira Abader had questioned the legal and moral justification for suspending grants based on minimal additional income. Legal framework for Sassa grant reviews Tolashe cited the Social Assistance Regulations as the legal basis for Sassa's actions. 'In terms of the Social Assistance Regulations, section 30 (2) (a), Sassa is compelled to act on information where it suspects that a change in circumstance has occurred,' she stated. The regulations give Sassa a clear mandate to conduct reviews. 'The agency has an obligation to review social assistance at any time where it has reason to believe that changes in the beneficiary's financial circumstances may have occurred,' Tolashe explained. The minister emphasised that each case receives individual consideration. Every beneficiary undergoes review according to established eligibility criteria within the Social Assistance legislative framework. ALSO READ: Sassa sounds alarm over unlawful insurance deductions from social grants Suspensions not based on minimal income Sassa rejected claims that grants are suspended solely due to small amounts of additional income. 'Suspensions are not based solely on minimal or irregular additional income,' Tolashe stated. She explained that the agency follows a case-by-case approach. Beneficiaries receive opportunities to clarify all their income sources during the review process. The minister outlined specific grounds for suspension. 'A grant is not suspended unless there is evidence of fraud; the client no longer meets the eligibility criteria, and or there is non-compliance with the Social Assistance Act or its Regulations,' she said. Eligibility criteria and reviews The Social Assistance Regulations establish clear eligibility requirements. These criteria determine who qualifies for assistance and guide the review process. Tolashe explained the purpose of the older person's grant system. 'A social grant serves as a cornerstone of South Africa's broader social assistance programme, aimed at helping older persons live with dignity in their later years and other grant beneficiaries meet their basic needs,' she said. However, automatic qualification does not exist. 'Not everyone automatically qualifies for an older person's grant upon turning 60 years,' the minister noted. Individual assessment remains essential. Each application undergoes evaluation based on regulatory eligibility criteria. Regular reviews ensure only qualifying recipients receive grants. ALSO READ: Under review: Sassa fires off grant suspension warning Shared responsibilities According to Tolashe, the system operates on shared responsibility between Sassa and beneficiaries. Grant recipients must inform Sassa about any changes in their circumstances. Sassa maintains its review authority. 'Sassa has the right and responsibility to conduct reviews at any time, especially when changes in a beneficiary's situation come to light,' Tolashe explained. The minister defended the review process as necessary for system integrity. 'Reviews are never intended to cause harm nor deprive grant beneficiaries of the grant, but rather to uphold the integrity and fairness of the social assistance system,' she stated.
