Golden State Warriors jersey history - No. 19 - Mike Novak (1948-49)
Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the third of 13 players who wore the No. 19 jersey for the Warriors.
That player would be Golden State forward alum Mike Novak. After ending his college career at Loyola Chicago, Novak signed with the (then) Rochester Royals (now, Sacramento Kings) in 1948 after nearly a decade in another domestic league, and the Royals sold his contract to the (then) Philadelphia (now, Golden State) Warriors in 1949.
His stay with the team would span a single season before he'd depart to yet another domestic league competing with the BAA.
During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Novak wore only jersey No. 19 and put up 1.7 points and 1.0 assists per game.

Golden State Warriors reportedly hold \
The Golden State Warriors are yet to make an addition to the roster this summer. Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Joe Lacob are likely tied up in negotiations with Jonathan Kuminga, whose unrestricted free agency has turned into the biggest saga of the offseason. According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, Seth Curry is drawing "mutual interest" with the Warriors. Adding the sharpshooter would put both Curry brothers on the same team, while also giving Steve Kerr's second unit one of the most trusty sharpshooters the NBA has to offer. "They want some extra shooting," Slater said via a recent episode of ESPN's NBA Today. "And another name i'm hearing, with mutual interest, Seth Curry as a potential bench shooting option with a family ties." Curry played in 68 games for the Charlotte Hornets last season, averaging 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per outing. However, it was his efficiency that caught the eye, with him shooting 45.6% from deep on 2.7 attempts each game. He also shot 50.3% from 2-point range. The Warriors would likely welcome some additional floor spacing off the bench. Furthermore, Curry could be available at the minimum, which would make him a cost-controlled addition with significant upside. Of course, other teams around the NBA could also covet the shooting he brings, so it will remain to be seen whether the Warriors firm up their reported interest and sign him to a year in the Bay Area.

Dallas Wings fell 86-76 after Golden State Valkyries' rally in the second half
Dallas got off to a great start, but a second-half rally by Golden State, in which the Valkyries scored 56 points, pushed them past the Wings 86-76 on Friday night. After being held to 30 points in the first half and falling behind by 12 early in the second half, the Valkyries scored 33 points in the third quarter to take a 63-60 lead heading to the fourth. The Wings stayed within five points early in the fourth quarter and tied it at 71 on a short floater from Paige Bueckers. Golden State led 75-72 with under three minutes remaining when Temi Fagbenle grabbed an offensive rebound to keep a possession alive. Her layup and subsequent three-point play gave the Valkyries a 78-72 lead. Hayes made 5 of 6 free throws and Veronica Burton added 3 of 4 down the stretch wrap up the victory. Dallas shot over 40% for the fourth straight game and made double-digit threes for the third consecutive game, but had a tough time at the charity stripe and with rebounds Friday night. During a post-game press conference, Bueckers touched on the missed free throws, layups and rebounding battle against the Valkyries. "They got more offensive rebounds than us and a lot of them were at pivotal points in the game, so all things we can control and all things we can fix and improve on," Bueckers said. Despite the loss, rookie Bueckers led all scorers with 17 points, Arike Ogunbowale had 16, Aziaha James had 13 and Haley Jones had 10. With Friday's loss, the Wings remain 12th out of 13 teams in the overall WNBA standings with a record of 7-18 on the season. Dallas returns home to Arlington at College Park Center to begin a four-game homestretch, starting on Sunday when the Wings host the Las Vegas Aces. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.

Titans stun Warriors to celebrate Hasler's 500th
Gold Coast have celebrated Des Hasler's 500-game coaching milestone with one of the upsets of the season, a stunning 24-16 defeat of top-four hopefuls the Warriors. Amid speculation over Hasler's future, the struggling Titans showed there may still be enough fight in their season to avoid the first wooden spoon of their beleaguered coach's career. Gun halfback Jayden Campbell starred in Auckland on Saturday afternoon as the favourites for last place bounced back from 10-0 down after nine minutes. It's a second unconvincing performance in a row for the fourth-placed Warriors, who needed until after the siren to overcome struggling Newcastle last week. The Warriors are still in the box seat for a top-four spot. They would have to lose at least twice more to finish the regular season any lower. But they're set to be without Wayde Egan for next week's clash with top-eight hopefuls the Dolphins after the hooker suffered a game-ending head knock in the first half. It looked likely to be a long night for Gold Coast when the Warriors crossed twice in quick succession down the left side early on, catching Jojo Fifita out in defence both times. But halfback Campbell hoisted his side back into the contest grabbing an offload from Jaimin Jolliffe and finding Fifita on a 60-metre tear. The Titans were level after an AJ Brimson cut-out pass to Phil Sami, and took an unlikely half-time lead thanks to Campbell's penalty goal. The Titans hit back through Jojo Fifita! 👊 — NRL (@NRL) July 26, 2025 Gold Coast smelt the unlikeliest of victories when Campbell intercepted a Te Maire Martin pass as the Warriors were working into their half in pursuit of late points. Without injured general Luke Metcalf, the Warriors struggled for their rhythm in attack after their opening burst. When they lost winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak to the sin bin for a professional foul in the second half, Gold Coast capitalised. The bunker ruled Fifita had made contact with the turf burrowing over the line for a second try on the back of a beautiful flat ball from Campbell. That made it a three-score game for the Titans and left the hosts with too much to do.
