How many times has this happened to you? You finally put the last playing card in the tiger statue bought by the insane art-collecting chief of police and open the hidden door leading to the diamond-tipped cane that goes into the other weird mechanical statue, only to have a creature with a meter-long tongue drop from the ceiling and claw open your abdomen.
If the answer is more than zero, then you most likely appreciate a good herb. Now, thanks to our friends at Umbrella Corporation you no longer need to rummage around alleyway dumpsters and desk drawers to find them. All your favorite colors of herbs can be found at Capcom Stores and Cafes in Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Sendai, or online for 864 yen each.
First, recover some life with some Green Herbs tea, which is a blend of green tea and spearmint which is sure to refresh and invigorate.
Next up, we have some Red Herbs that can finally be used on their own. This tea merges the flavors and aromas of hibiscus, rosehips, and a sweet touch of stevia. It might not serve to enhance other herbs this time around, but it sure will enhance your afternoon.
Blue Herbs matches its unique color with the distinct fragrance of moringa and a hint of stevia. It's a firm taste that's meant to represent the poison-resisting effects of blue herbs.
Finally, extend your life gauge with the classically clean and elegant chamomile tea which represents the Yellow Herbs of the game.
Umbrella Corporation would like to kindly remind everyone that these teas should not be used in place of actual Resident Evil Herbs and there is no guarantee they can heal you from mortal wounds, treat/prevent poisoning, or prolong your life. Doctors are still your best option for all those things.
Nevertheless, judging by the reaction in comments online, many people are curious to try some of these. Many also had the obvious thought of anyone who's played the games.
'I wonder what it would taste like if I blended them together.'
'Now I won't have to worry about getting bitten by a zombie.'
'Looks interesting. I want to try some.'
'Seems like they would be more effective if I blended them.'
'They should make some decorative herbs too.'
'I usually only carry First-Aid Sprays.'
'They should have come out with this ages ago.'
Making it so the teas could be mixed would have been a genius move for this product. That surely would have taken a lot of research and development to pull off though, so maybe if this run of Resident Evil Herb herbal teas is a hit, they'll go back to the drawing board for that in the next edition.
So, be sure to clear out some space in that large briefcase you always seem to have but are inexplicably never seen carrying around to pick up these useful items. I usually ditch the flash grenades since I can never be bothered to use them.

Is splendid alfonsino ochazuke from a vending machine too fishy, or splendidly delicious?

First we had to track down the vending machine in question. Our Japanese-language team of SoraNews24 reporters sometimes receive requests from readers to investigate a particular topic. Since we've been known to tackle just about anything under the sun, many of the requests we receive are of a zany nature. Writer Seiji Nakazawa was intrigued by one such mission we received not long ago (though tame by our standards): 'In the neighborhood of Sasazuka 2-22 [in Tokyo] there's a vending machine that sells some kind of ochazuke set called 'splendid alfonsino rice meal' [kinmedai gozen in Japanese]. It's a bit pricey at 660 yen [US$4.55] so I can't bring myself to buy it, but I hope you can review it.' Now, it's not so uncommon to find vending machines selling meals these days in Japan, but ochazuke (a dish of poured tea or dashi soup stock over rice with toppings) from a can was a new one to Seiji's ears, especially with fish involved. He decided to fulfill the request and promptly hopped on a train to the Sasazuka district of Shibuya Ward just to the west of Shinjuku. The neighborhood seemed to a be a quiet, residential area, far from the hustle and bustle of downtown Tokyo. Seiji had pictured the vending machine as fairly large in size in his mind, but as he walked around, he didn't see anything like that. There were plenty of vending machines, but they were all the standard kind selling bottled drinks. However, as he was scanning the contents of one machine row by row, he spotted something a little bit fishy on the far right in the middle. There it was! The splendid alfonsino ochazuke rice meal was indiscreetly tucked in with the drinks. ▼ 金目鯛飯善 = splendid alfonsino ochazuke rice meal Seiji inserted some money into the machine and claimed his prize, which turned out to be about the size of a canned coffee. It seemed to contain a variety of packs with ochazuke ingredients. He rushed back to the SoraNews24 office to pop open the bottle. There was liquid dashi, some toppings, and a fillet of splendid alfonsino. Impressively, it wasn't freeze-dried, but was fresh fish vacuum-sealed in a plastic wrap. Everything definitely seemed like a step up from regular supermarket ochazuke. He quickly got to work preparing the ochazuke by placing the fish on some cooked rice. The dashi had a strong aroma as he began to pour it on top. He also saw some of the oil from the fish start to mix into the soup, which gave it an air of luxury. Here was the fully prepared dish complete with freeze-dried toppings. It was rather pretty and not something you'd think came from a vending machine. Thankfully, its taste lived up to expectations, and he thoroughly enjoyed the dish. As Seiji was eating, he realized that the directions provided another way of preparing the ochazuke by cooking it along with rice. Not knowing what that other style tasted like was going to bother him, so he went back to Sasazuka to get another can from the same vending machine. When cooking it with rice, you're supposed to add the liquid dashi and fish directly into the rice cooker before turning it on. You'll sprinkle the other toppings on the prepared rice at the end. Seiji cooked it with one cup of rice, which was perfect for a single serving. He was a little concerned about whether the full flavor would come through or if it would be diluted in this version, but after about 15 minutes of cooking, the unmistakable aroma of the fish began to waft out. When it was done, he popped open the lid to see the fillet of fish resting on the bed of cooked rice. Was this really going to taste like ochazuke…? Adding the freeze-dried toppings felt like adding nothing but little sprinkles to the mix, but he nonetheless followed the instructions and then mixed everything together. Here was the finished product. Seiji took a bite and instantly relaxed because it was even better than he'd expected. The white fish was subtly present throughout the rice, and the dish's overall flavor was even more apparent than in the earlier ochazuke. It seemed his concern had been completely unfounded. All in all, he decided that while the more traditional ochazuke method is quick and convenient, the rice cooker method takes the meal to a whole new level. Seiji would like to extend his thanks to the reader who asked him to find the splendid alfonsino ochazuke meal set in a random vending machine. It turned out even better than he imagined–and was certainly a way better quest than that time he had to pose for a sexy office calendar. AR sport Hado added to Shizuoka high school curriculum

Shoot fireballs for your health! It's been said that sports participation in Japanese schools has been on a steady decline in recent years. It would seem that tossing the old ball around and climbing ropes has taken a backseat to tossing grenades and climbing rusty ladders out of the stygian depths of a demon-infested video game underworld. There's also the tendency for sports to ostracize those with less physical strength and coordination, making it a traumatic and depressing ordeal for some. So, in an effort to make sports both more inclusive and glitzier, Shizuoka Nishi High School in Shizuoka City has become the latest to adopt the AR sport of Hado into their physical education curriculum this June. ▼ Welcome to Hado Hado is brought to us by Meleap Inc., whose CEO Hiroshi Fukuda always wanted to shoot fireballs from his arms as seen in video games and TV. In the sport, players wear an AR visor and wrist terminal and get into teams of three before taking the court. When the battle begins, one arm is used to shoot fireballs and can be charged by holding it up. The other arm can be raised to also raise a shield and is charged by keeping it down. Through their visors, each player can see a ring divided into four segments in front of all the other players. Points are awarded for each segment hit and the team with the most points after 80 seconds wins. Also, before playing, everyone can use their arm terminal to set their stats. You are allowed to allot up to 10 points across four skill: Bullet Speed, Bullet Size, Charging Speed, and Number of Shields that can be deployed at one time. This allows players to augment their own natural ability during games either by balancing them or enhancing existing strong points. Playing in this way lets students enjoy a more level playing field so kids of all shapes and sizes can compete together while still getting a lot of exercise and eye-hand coordination practice. Hado is currently played in 100 schools in Japan and 300 around the world. Adults also play the game and the Hado World Cup was held in Shanghai, China on 24 May. The entire event was streamed online and can still be viewed on YouTube, so I won't spoil it by saying which of the 18 participating countries won if you want to watch it. Of course, it's also possible to go full AR game with Hado and still get some exercise in. Team-based games like Hado Monster Battle let you and your friends work together to take out a giant beast with your fireball-throwing skills. I have to say, it makes me a little jealous that kids today can do this in gym class when all we had when I was their age was a parachute… Aw, who am I kidding? The parachute was awesome, but this is really cool too. Japan's cute/creepy mascot character Myaku-Myaku can now appear in your drinking glass【Photos】

You can turn any beverage into the Osaka Expo mascot. Unique drinkware is an easy way to make your beverage break more enjoyable, whether it's a stylishly shaped glass or a coffee mug with cute illustrations or quirky philosophical mottos on it. And yes, there's no denying that this glass mug, from Osaka-based Heso Production, is very unique. Right away, you can see that there's something strange going on with the design, and things get even stranger when you turn it around and see multiple eyeballs staring…well, not so much back at you, but in a number of different directions. Everything starts to make sense, though, when you realize that this is a double-wall drinking glass, with its inside contoured to form Myaku-Myaku, the mascot of the 2025 World Expo currently taking place in Osaka. Though Japan is a country with a well-known love of orthodoxically cute character design, the World Expo organizers decided to go a different route with their mascot, creating not a cuddly fantasy forest critter or an earnestly endearing schoolgirl. Instead, Myaku-Myaku is a creature with a blue humanoid body and a ring of writhing…something that encircles its head, with five eyes laid out in an asymmetrical array. As is usually the case with negative-space artistic drinkware, the Myaku-Myaku that forms in the glass is upside down, but that's not particularly distracting, seeing as how the character's head is an irregularly undulating circle that doesn't really have a conventional this-end-up aesthetic. Similarly, while the official color of Myaku-Myaku's head is red, the uniqueness of its anatomy means that it doesn't look any more (or less) off-putting with drinks of different colors. ▼ Left-to-right: Myaku-Myaku made of tomato juice, 'blue Hawaii,' green tea, and orange juice The Myaku-Myaku glass is priced at 3,500 yen (US$24) and goes on sale in mid-June at the official Osaka World Expo Kintetsu West Gate, JR West West Gate, Maruzen Junkudo East Gate, and Daimaru Matsuzaka East Gate stores inside the event venue. Meanwhile, if you'd like a double-wall drinking glass with a more traditionally cute design, Pokémon's Snorlax is standing by.
