He said Sabah must prioritise its internal strength instead of depending on external parties in shaping its political direction.

Yusof criticised certain non-local parties for pre-emptively announcing seats they plan to contest in the upcoming state election without prior consultation. He added that GRS is prepared to contest solo and expressed confidence that the coalition remains the most suitable to lead Sabah's administration. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? GRS, PH on right track for election pact, says senior leader
Gagasan Rakyat Sabah vice-president Masiung Banah said Sabah PH has continuously expressed support for GRS chairman Hajiji Noor's leadership. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Pakatan Harapan are on the right track to reach a pact for the upcoming Sabah election, a senior GRS leader said today. Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah vice-president Masiung Banah cited GRS chairman Hajiji Noor's consistent willingness to work with PH for the state polls as a major reason for this. He also said Sabah PH had continuously expressed support for the leadership of Hajiji, who is the chief minister, Jesselton Times reported. Masiung said the GRS Supreme Council would decide on the matter when it meets. 'If this partnership is confirmed, GRS and PH will establish a joint committee in each district to ensure that our candidates succeed in the 17th state election. 'GRS aligns with Barisan Nasional in the latter's decision not to collaborate for the state election,' he said. Last month, the unity government secretariat announced that BN and PH had agreed to work together to face the state election, following a meeting between their chairmen, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Anwar Ibrahim. Hajiji then threatened that GRS would go solo if this pact was finalised, but Anwar later stepped in and called for PH-BN to work with the state coalition. Sabah BN chief Bung Moktar Radin later said the coalition would not work with GRS in the state election but would consider cooperation only after the outcome of the polls.
