Gurnee police report 15 business break-ins in overnight crime spree
Gurnee police said they are investigating a coordinated crime spree that resulted in 15 business break-ins in the early morning hours of Wednesday. Polcie said that shortly before 4 a.m., officers were sent to a business in the 400 block of Riverside Drive after multiple burglar alarms went off. When they arrived, they found front windows of several businesses shattered. As the officers investigated, police said it became clear that there had been a coordinated crime spree that hit 15 different businesses across the village. In some cases, the burglaries weren't discovered until workers arrived to open up in the morning. Cash registers were taken from some stores, while other businesses reported that nothing appeared to be missing. The total among of cash stolen is not yet known, police said. Police believe multiple suspects were involved in the spree, and said surveillance footage shows several people wearing masks and gloves breaking the front windows of the businesses. Michigan man's family seeking answers 14 years after his murder
The family of James Dean Odle is seeking answers 14 years after the 28-year-old was shot and killed in Waterford Township, Michigan. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information that will lead to an arrest. Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip at 800-Speak Up. According to Crime Stoppers, Odle was talking on S. Lynn Street near Lakeview Street on July 31, 2011, when a white SUV parked nearby and an individual got out of the car and shot Odle several times. Odle collapsed in a yard and died from his injuries, according to Crime Stoppers. Officials say Odle had two children. The suspect is described as a Black man with a thin build, medium height, wearing a black durag, black t-shirt and checkered shorts. The suspect vehicle is described as a GMC Acadia, Dodge Journey or Chrysler Pacifica.

Good Samaritan bashed in head with baseball bat trying to break up NYC brawl: sources
A good Samaritan was bashed in the face with a baseball bat as he tried to break up a fight on a Bronx street, leaving him with severe head fractures, cops and sources said. The concerned 31-year-old victim intervened when he spotted two men fighting around 1 a.m. Friday on East 175th Street near Walton Avenue in Morris Heights, authorities and sources said. But the violence quickly turned towards him, with one of the men pulling out a baseball bat and whacking the do-gooder multiple times, police said. Advertisement A Bronx brute bashed a good Samaritan with a baseball bat when the do-gooder intervened in a fight, cops and sources said. NYPD The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition with severe fractures to his face and head. The bat-wielding man fled the scene and has not been caught, authorities said. The attack left the victim with multiple fractures, and he is listed in critical but stable condition.
