James Carter Cathcart, ‘Pokémon' voice actor, passes away
His death was announced by his wife, Martha S. Jacobi, in posts on Facebook.
Cathcart died peacefully on July 8 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York, United States. His funeral will be held in early August at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New York City.
"Thanks to all of Jimmy's fans over the years! Giving you joy was why he worked so hard on his craft. Please know how much he appreciated you!" Jacobi wrote in a post in the Facebook group The James Carter Cathcart Fan Club.
Jacobi did not disclose the cause of death.
The New York Times has reported that Cathcart's ex-wife Jeanne Gari said in an interview that he passed away from throat cancer.
Cathcart, also known as Jimmy Zoppi, Billy Beach, and Carter Cathcart, was involved with the "Pokémon" franchise for over 20 years, beginning with "Pokémon: The First Movie" in 1998.
His voice acting credits on IMdB also include "Yu-Gi-Oh!" "One Piece," "Sonic X," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and "Mission Odyssey," among many others.

'One Piece' live action drops new Season 2 image ahead of 'big' announcements
The Straw Hats are setting sail towards something big! The official social media pages of Netflix's "One Piece" live-action series released an image from the highly anticipated second season. It shows the crew — Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Sanji (Taz Skylar), and Usopp (Jacob Gibson) gathered together in the Going Merry. "Can you feel it in the wind, Nakama? The seas are restless and rumors from the Grand Line speak of something BIG approaching for ONE PIECE DAY! Trust us, you'll want to be aboard when it hits!" the post said. Rufa Mae Quinto shares touching photos of daughter Athena with husband Trevor Magallanes
Rufa Mae Quinto is still mourning the sudden passing of her husband Trevor Magallanes. On Instagram Monday afternoon, the commedienne shared a carousel post of photos featuring Trevor and their daughter Athena. "The love string will last forever! Thank you Daddy," Rufa Mae wrote. She ended her short caption with a "mahal kita" that she attributed to Athena. Rufa Mae broke the news of Trevor's passing on social media Thursday, saying they were still gathering factual information. In a Facebook post Saturday, she admitted to the shock of being a widow as they had never gotten annulled. 'Lord please give me and Athena, our daughter, strength, ang sakit,' Rufa Mae prayed. She later published another Facebook note asking discretion from the public, adding all information about his death will come from her at the right time. Rufa and Trevor got married in 2016 and welcomed Athena the following year. Just in January, Rufa admitted she and Trevor were going through a rough patch but that she had no plans to file for divorce.
