Lineker forbidden from speaking at Jewish writer's memorial by son
Gary Lineker may have been finally forced out of the Beeb, but the ex-footballer is still managing to make headlines. Now it transpires that the son of the late award-winning football journalist Brian Glanville – who was made football correspondent for the Sunday Times in 1958 and covered every World Cup for the next 44 years – has forbidden Lineker from speaking at his Jewish father's memorial ceremony after the pundit shared a controversial post about Zionism on social media. Mark Glanville hit out at the former Match of the Day presenter after his sister Jo suggested Lineker speak at their father's service due to the journalistic duo's close acquaintance – and blasted the ex-pundit's post as 'crossing a line'.
Despite his father's friendship with Lineker, Glanville has insisted his late father – who died last month aged 93 – would not have wanted the ex-pundit to speak at the ceremony.

Gary Lineker reunites with his first wife Michelle at son Harry's Ibiza wedding
Former Match of the Day host, Gary Lineker, was seen beaming with pride alongside his first wife, Michelle Cockayne, when the proud parents attended their son Harry's wedding in Ibiza Gary Lineker and his first wife, Michelle Cockayne, put the past behind them when they reunited for their son's wedding in Ibiza recently. Harry Lineker was surrounded by his famous family when he tied the knot on the Spanish island at the lavish nuptials, which were also attended by Gary's brother, Wayne, earlier this month. In snaps taken from the celebration, Gary, 64, dressed in a beige linen suit with cropped trousers and brown suede loafers, sits next to Michelle as they wait for Harry's bride, Annabelle, to walk down the aisle. Michelle looked stunning for her son's big day, sporting a midnight blue, silk maxi dress, which was perfect for the sun-kissed nuptials. She is also seen in another family photo on the party island alongside Gary and the former couple's four sons, Tobias, 29, George, 34, Angus, 26, and groom, Harry, 31. Gary married Michelle in 1986 when the former footballer met his wife-to-be when she was 14 and he was an 18-year- old reserve for his home town club Leicester City. "There wasn't one particular moment when we suddenly became a couple but I do remember asking her out for our first proper date to a restaurant when she was 17 and it just went on from there," Gary once recalled, adding: "I was probably keener on her then than she was on me and I'm probably keener now." The couple went on to welcome four sons, but, tragically, were made to endure every parent's worst nightmare when they discovered their son, George, had been diagnosed with cancer when he was just a baby. Gary discussed the heartbreaking time - during which their son spent seven months in hospital - during an interview on ITV 's The Assembly in which celebrities are interviewed by a panel of neurodivergent or learning disabled individuals. With tears in his eyes, the former footballer, who recently left MOTD after a 25-year-tenure, explained that George wasn't given much of a chance following his leukaemia diagnosis when he was just two months old. Visibly moved when asked about his son, Gary said: "That was really tough - it changes you, he was only two months old. We got told he had leukaemia, he wasn't given much chance. "It was really awful. We were in the hospital for around seven months with him.' Gary continued: 'We were the lucky ones, because there were other parents in there that lost their kids so we felt quite fortunate in the end. It was really scary." Claiming that he and Michelle handled the terrifying time differently, he concluded: "I felt I needed to talk about it. Michelle, she would bottle things up. But ultimately we got a good ending.' Two decades after they tied the knot, when George was 16, Michelle filed for divorce from Gary on the grounds of her his 'unreasonable behaviour', with documents submitted to the court claiming that the England star's actions in their marriage had caused her 'stress and anxiety'. However, they later stated their marriage breakdown was amicable, with Gary, who went on to marry Welsh model, Dannielle Bux, recently telling The Times he'd had "two really good marriages".

Emmerdale fans slam 'frustrating' schedule change as soap pulled from air
Soap fans have been left scratching their heads this week as the soaps have been thrown off their regular schedule due to football - but is Emmerdale on tonight? ITV Emmerdale fans have been left confused about the schedule changes to their favourite soaps this week. It's been an eventful few weeks in the Dales - but fans getting ready to watch the soap tonight may have to change their plans. Usually, the soap airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 for half an hour, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. Those who don't want to wait until the evening have the option to watch the episode at 6am when it drops on ITVX. However, unfortunately the soap won't air tonight due to International Football coverage. England's Men's Team will be The City Ground in Nottingham to take on Senegal in a friendly match. Coverage starts at 7pm, with the match kicking off at 7.45. The soap will be back to its regular schedule from tomorrow. Unfortunately, the next episode isn't available on ITVX yet either. Frustrated fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter to complain, as one wrote: " Emmerdale cancelled again because of football? so frustrating .. why not just move the episode to ITV 2 for the night?" Another penned: "No Emmerdale tonight boo. I am sure you can guess why!" The cancellation of the episode comes after a nail biting cliffhanger saw John trying to get Cain off the hook. He's a prime suspect in the murder investigation, and murderer John was left feeling sorry for him after he said he needed to grieve his son. Emmerdale isn't the only soap that has faced a schedule shake-up this week. EastEnders fans will have to wait until tonight for their first trip to Albert Square this week. The soap was pulled from BBC1 yesterday after the channel aired the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Belgium and Wales. Although, eager fans were able to take their first trip to Albert Square yesterday on iPlayer. The soap will resume its usual iPlayer schedule of Monday - Thursday this week, however, the soap will air on BBC1 from Tuesday - Friday. Yesterday, some EastEnders fans were also left furious, as one penned: "EASTENDERS IS NOT ON TONIGHT #EastEnders". It's set to be a huge week in the soap as Kat and Alfie prepare to tie the knot once again - but will it be third time lucky for the couple? Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.

Prince William's 'true feelings' on key Trooping the Colour role confirmed
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Royal Family is in full preparation mode for the upcoming Trooping the Colour festivities, which are just around the corner. In keeping with time-honoured tradition, senior royals will saddle up and accompany the King's carriage during the procession from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade. Word has it that King Charles, accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla, will be riding in a carriage, while Prince William, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward will join the procession on horseback. As the Colonel of the Welsh Guards, last year saw William riding alongside other senior royals decked out in the bright red uniform featuring a leek emblem at the neck, complemented by a traditional bearskin cap accented with the regiment's distinct white and green plume. READ MORE - Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's major life change after terrifying Netflix ordeal READ MORE - Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice 'waiting in wings' as King William makes 'shake up' Adorned with his Most Noble Order of the Garter Sash, Royal Air Force Pilot Wings, and four medals – the Gold, Diamond, Platinum Jubilee medals, alongside the Coronation Medal, William cut a striking figure. A source confided to the Sunday Times regarding the heir-to-the-throne's views on participating in the procession atop a horse: "He really enjoys it." These comments regarding William's participation this year follow reports suggesting that King Charles might choose the comfort of a carriage ride for a second consecutive year, reports the Mirror. And despite King Charles likely opting out of horseback riding in this year's parade, the occasion will mark the first time Princess Royal is seen riding publicly since her hospitalisation for a suspected equine-related injury last year. At 74, Anne is set to participate in the parade this year, taking up her position as gold stick, which involves her role as colonel of the Blues and Royals. She will be riding alongside the Duke of Edinburgh, who serves as colonel of the Scots Guards and London Guards, as well as Prince William. King Charles has been a fixture on horseback in the parade, both for his mother's birthday celebrations and his own. However, due to his struggle with cancer, the 76 year old King is expected to travel by carriage again this year, repeating last year's mode of transport. A Royal aide recently shared insights into King Charles's health battle, stating: "The thing you learn about this illness [cancer] is that you just manage it. And that's what he does." They added: "Medical science has made incredible advances and I genuinely see no difference in him... As long as you just do what the doctors say, just live your life as normal as possible." Continuing on King Charles's health, the aide remarked: "It's no secret that he is still having treatment but because he is incredibly fit, he is just dealing with it all incredibly well. As everybody knows he is driven by duty, so he just gets on with it." 2023 marked the last year King Charles rode in the ceremony, which was a momentous occasion as it was the first time a monarch had ridden in the parade since Queen Elizabeth did back in 1986. After her trusted horse retired, Queen Elizabeth then opted for a carriage from 1987 until her final appearance in 2022, where she gave her salute from Buckingham Palace's balcony. The annual Trooping the Colour event, traditionally held in June to celebrate the sovereign's official birthday since King George IV ascended the throne in 1820, has been a steadfast tradition barring interruptions during the world wars and a national strike in 1955. In 2020, due to the Covid pandemic, a pared-down version of the festivities took place at Windsor Castle. The 2025 Trooping the Colour, officially dubbed The King's Birthday Parade, is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, in London.
