Apple Is Taking On ChatGPT AI Search With New ‘Answers' Team: What We Know

Apple's AI push is going to get fiercer and the new Answers team will be hoping to compete with the best in the market.
Apple is going to make some big moves in the AI arena to get started and the company is even ready to spend big on making it happen. However, new reports say Apple is working on its own ChatGPT search-like feature with the help of a new team.
The company has set up an internal team codenamed 'Answers, Knowledge and Information' (AKI) that is being entrusted with developing an AI-powered search platform.
As the name suggests, AKI will be using the web to crawl for responses and give answers to GK-based queries from the users. The Bloomberg report suggests this could be Apple's first real fist at making in-house AI chatbot.
Working For The Future
The AKI team, as given in the report, is going to help shape the AI infrastructure for search at Apple that will eventually offer its capabilities to Siri, Spotlight and even Safari, it adds.
The company has relied on external AI support to offer features to iPhone users but it seems Apple knows that a strong AI future is relying on in-house backend architecture that not only delivers quality but also ensures privacy of the users. Can the new team help Apple find the answers? We'll know soon.
We're hearing about the new AI search tool from Apple around the same time when the company is planning for some big moves in the market.
Tim Cook has been trying his best to internally keep the motivation going, and recently made a rousing speech in front of the employees, asking them to put most of their eggs in the AI basket. 'AI is one of the most profound technologies of our lifetime. And I think it will affect all devices in a significant way," he was quoted saying in the meeting by Bloomberg. The company has even considered buying Perplexity and others might feature on its list now.
Apple clearly has its work cut out to challenge OpenAI and Google, as the former is already close to releasing ChatGPT v5.0 in the market, which has Sam Altman scared about the power and future of the technology with its fast advancement and no oversight in place.

Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL launching on Aug 20: Expected features

Google on Monday (August 4, 2025) revealed the launch date of the Pixel 10 series through its X account. The Alphabet-owned big tech company also mocked its rival Apple for delaying the full-fledged launch of Apple Intelligence in iPhones. 'If you buy a new phone because of a feature that's coming soon but it's been coming soon for a full year, you could change your definition of 'soon' or you could just change your phone,' shared @madebyGoogle handle. It further says, 'Get outside your comfort phone'. The Google Store page in India says that Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL phones are coming. However, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is also expected. The teaser showcases the Pixel 9 series design language coming in Pixel 10 devices with a protruding visor in a metallic and polished back. Trump's Staffing Gaps Complicate India's Bid to Ease US Tensions

(Bloomberg) -- Indian officials have struggled to engage with President Donald Trump's administration because key foreign policy roles in Washington remain unfilled, people familiar with the matter said, making it difficult for New Delhi to effectively push for a favorable trade deal. Several positions in the Department of State and the Department of Defense are vacant, which has made it harder for India to lobby its view, the people said, asking not to be identified to discuss a sensitive matter. It's become urgent for New Delhi to make its case to Washington after being unexpectedly slapped with a 25% tariff — one of the highest in the region — and facing further threats over its ties with Russia. Trump said Monday he'll increase the rate 'substantially' because of New Delhi's refusal to halt buying of Russian oil. The US says India, alongside China, is helping President Vladimir Putin fund his war against Ukraine with the oil purchases. New Delhi defended its position Monday, saying criticism from the US and European Union about the Asian nation's trade with Russia was 'unjustified and unreasonable.' It highlighted that the EU and US continue to buy energy and other materials from Russia when 'such trade is not even a national compulsion.' The steep tariff adds to already strained ties, with Trump repeatedly claiming he used trade as leverage to broker peace between India and rival Pakistan in May — an assertion New Delhi has strongly denied. One of the most critical vacancies is the Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs — a role that oversees US foreign policy and relations in the region. Although Indian-American academic Paul Kapur was nominated for the role by Trump, his appointment has yet to be confirmed. The post of US Ambassador to India — a key role in managing bilateral tensions — has remained vacant since January 2025, with career diplomats currently running the New Delhi embassy. Eric Garcetti, former President Joe Biden's representative to India, was confirmed only after a two-year delay, but strong personal ties between key officials on both sides helped bridge the gap at the time, the people said. India's Ministry of External Affairs didn't comment when contacted for further information. The US Embassy in New Delhi didn't immediately respond to an email seeking further information. The sharp downsizing of the US National Security Council — from over 300 officials under Biden to around 50 under Trump's second term — has further compounded the challenges, the people added. The White House pushed out scores of NSC staffers in May as officials sought to transform the council into a smaller organization focused on implementing Trump's policies instead of helping to shape them. --With assistance from Kate Sullivan. Google Takes Aim at Apple's AI Setback Ahead of Pixel 10 Launch

Google is seizing the moment to promote its upcoming Pixel 10 lineup by taking a subtle swipe at Apple over its delayed rollout of AI-powered Siri. In a new ad campaign, Google indirectly referenced Apple's missed promise, urging users to reconsider their current devices. The ad cheekily says, 'If you buy a new phone because of a feature that's coming soon, but it's been coming soon for a full year, you could change your definition of soon. Or you could just change your phone.' While Apple isn't mentioned by name, the message is clear — Google is poking fun at the Cupertino giant for not delivering its much-anticipated personalized Siri features. Apple recently confirmed that its next-gen AI assistant, part of its broader 'Apple Intelligence' initiative, won't arrive until 2026, a full year later than originally promised. The delay has sparked disappointment among users and even legal backlash for what some see as misleading marketing. Meanwhile, Google is positioning itself as the AI-ready alternative. The tech giant is preparing to unveil the Pixel 10 series on August 20, with pre-orders opening the same day and shipping expected to begin on August 28. The Pixel 10 lineup will include four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Google is also expected to debut the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a during the same event. As for the hardware, the standard Pixel 10 is getting a visual refresh with new color options — Indigo, Frost, and Limoncello — replacing previous shades like Peony, Wintergreen, and Porcelain. The iconic Obsidian color remains. Design-wise, the base Pixel 10 will include a triple-camera setup for the first time: a 48MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens, which were previously exclusive to the Pro series. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL will be powered by Google's next-gen Tensor G5 chip, built using TSMC's advanced 3nm process. Display sizes remain unchanged from the previous generation — 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.8 inches for the Pro XL — but battery life is expected to improve, with the Pro XL rumored to feature a 5,200mAh battery, the largest ever in a Pixel device. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold, likely the most premium of the lot, keeps the same foldable design as its predecessor but comes with upgrades. These include a larger 6.4-inch cover display, thinner bezels, a 5,015mAh battery, and faster charging: 23W wired and 15W wireless via Qi2. All new Pixel phones are expected to ship with Android 16, featuring enhanced AI integration, updated Material 3 UI elements, and possibly fresh widgets and tools. Though the design language remains familiar, the internal upgrades in performance, battery, and camera technology hint at meaningful improvements across the board. With Apple's AI innovations pushed to next year, Google is using the moment to lure users looking for cutting-edge features now — not later.
