Buses delayed for students at Springfield Public Schools
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – For students attending Springfield Public Schools, buses are delayed Friday morning.
Springfield launches senior tax work-off pilot program
According to a post on the Springfield Public School's Facebook page, the school day schedule will go on as normal, but some buses are running late for pickup Friday morning.
The post did not give a reason for the delay. If any parents have the FirstView app, they can track their students bus in real-time.

Sidewalks to close Monday for repairs in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Several sidewalks in Pittsfield will be closed to pedestrians starting on Monday as crews conduct repair work. LIST: Ironman triathlon to cause weekend road closures City officials shared that numerous asphalt sidewalks will be replaced with concrete beginning on Monday, with work taking place across the next four weeks. The following sidewalks will begin undergoing repair work this week: North side of Columbus Avenue from Robbins Avenue to Francis Avenue North side of Summer Street from Francis Avenue to Center Street South side of Union Street from Francis Avenue to Union Street South side of Bradford Street from Francis Avenue to Center Street North side of Bradford Street from Center Street to North Street While repairs are taking place, these sidewalks will be closed for pedestrian use. Those walking in the area will be able to use the sidewalks on the alternate side of the street. These repairs are funded through the Community Development Block Grant. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change. Chicopee Mayor Vieau wins trophy at Spirit of Springfield Golf Classic
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Spirit of Springfield Golf Classic teed off Friday morning from Franconia Golf Course in Springfield. The day kicked off with the mayors of Springfield, West Springfield, Agawam, Westfield and Chicopee all taking part in the coveted Mayor's Cup. Each mayor had three short putts to make. For each one they made, they got to take a second shot at a long putt. Closest ball wins. Ticks becoming more active as weather heats up
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The weather is getting warmer and the bugs are really coming out. Over the years, the tick population has increased dramatically and it's important to protect yourself from them. As the weather gets warmer, more and more of us are spending time outside. Ticks tend to be very active this time of year, and they can carry dangerous and even deadly diseases like Lyme, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Powassan. So it's important to avoid areas where they could be. If you're hiking, sticking to the middle of the trail.
