Noah Wyle explains why he didn't dance through ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show' Spirit Tunnel

CNN09-04-2025

There's a reason why Jennifer Hudson gave Noah Wyle a 'hall pass' from dancing his way through her show's Spirit Tunnel.
'The Pitt' star declined enter 'The Jennifer Hudson Show' set the way many guests have, which is to dance through a 'tunnel' created by a team of show employees as they clap and sing.
Wyle later explained to Hudson why he declined to show of his moves.
'It would've triggered a bigger breakdown than I had on ('The Pitt') two weeks ago if I had done it,' Wyle said.
Viewers of his hit medical drama know that Wyle was referencing a particularly intense episode in which his character, Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch, was overcome with emotion after suffering the loss of a patient following a mass shooting.
Wyle said a classmate's bar mitzvah in 1984 has forever deterred him from dancing in public. At the time, the actor said, he 'fancied' himself a breakdancer.
A post shared by The Jennifer Hudson Show (@jenniferhudsonshow) 'I went out and I heard Herbie Hancock's 'Rockit' playing in front of all my classmates,' Wyle recalled. 'And I attempted the worm and I got into some kind of inverted position and it all collapsed on me.'
So while he would have loved to have shown the same type of enthusiasm for Hudson's Spirit Tunnel, he said 'nobody needs to see that.' Wyle threw out that he might attempt to 'babystep it.'
Hudson was understanding.
'We're just happy to have you here,' she said.
Wyle is not the only guest to have gone their own way.
Producer and musician Benny Blanco, who is engaged to Selena Gomez, handed out flowers instead of grooving down the Spirit Tunnel.

Kate Hudson Shares Intimate Birthday Tribute to Fiancé Danny Fujikawa: ‘I Really Dig This Human'

Kate Hudson is celebrating fiancé's Danny Fujikawa last year in his 30s The Running Point actress shared an intimate photo of the couple via Instagram Tuesday, June 10 "May this last year of your thirties be a perfect jumping board for the best decade to come," she wroteKate Hudson is expressing her gratitude for fiancé Danny Fujikawa on his special day. On Tuesday, June 10, Hudson posted an intimate birthday tribute in honor of Fujikawa's 39th birthday. The Running Point actress, 46, shared an Instagram photo of her hugging Fujikawa from the back. In the photo, Fujikawa wears a brown blazer and white shirt, while placing his brown hat on his chest. Hudson looks toward the camera wearing a black, off-the-shoulder top. 'I really dig this human ✨ My Gemini Hurricane, may this last year of your thirties be a perfect jumping board for the best decade to come! Love you so ❤️Happy Birthday Dan Man❤️,' she captioned the intimate moment. In addition to Hudson, Fujikawa – the singer and guitarist for Los Angeles-based band Chief – also received love in the comment section from her fans. 'Happy Birthday Danny!!! We love you! 🎉❤️❤️❤️,' one person wrote. Another added, 'Ahhh happy birthday, Danny! Big love to you two!' A third wrote, 'Happy Birthday to one amazing father!🎈🎈🎈.' Hudson and Fujikawa met over a decade ago. The Fool's Gold star was 23 and expecting her first child, Ryder Russell Robinson, at the time. They were introduced through Hudson's best friends, who also happen to be Fujikawa's stepsisters. In a December 2017 Instagram post, Hudson shared the story of how she and her husband-to-be first met. "A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date,' she revealed. 'No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter." In addition to Ryder, 21, who Hudson shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson, she is also a mom to son Bingham, 13, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy. She also shares a daughter, Rani, 6, with Fujikawa. Hudson hinted at expanding her family during a 2020 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, saying she wanted to give Rani a younger sibling. "I don't know if I'm done," she said of her blended family. "I'm in that place of like, right now, Rani is at that age where you're like, 'I want another baby.' But once she gets like 4 or 5, you're like, 'I feel like my life is kinda back a little bit [and] they're kinda in a groove.' It's weird … it's like a window." She spoke on the topic again during a December 2022 conversation with Byrdie. "I've been having children my entire adult life," she explained. "I've got my 4-year-old and I've got a kid in college. And I don't even know if I'm done yet. You know, I don't have that answer yet." Read the original article on People

Bryan Cranston Raves About Daughter Taylor Dearden's Performance on 'The Pitt': I'm 'Over the Moon'

Bryan Cranston said there's "nothing" better than hearing praise for his daughter Taylor Dearden's star turn on The Pitt The Breaking Bad alum also revealed if he, as an award-winning actor, has given Dearden any advice Dearden plays Dr. Melissa "Mel" King on the hit medical drama, which has already been renewed for a second seasonBryan Cranston is one proud dad. The Breaking Bad actor, 69, can't help but boast about his 32-year-old daughter Taylor Dearden's breakthrough performance as Dr. Melissa "Mel" King on The Pitt. "There is nothing that's more gratifying than when your kid receives praise. Nothing," Cranston told the Associated Press of what he and longtime wife Robin Dearden, a fellow actor, think of their daughter's latest role. "No one can say anything to me that's better than that." "Her mom and I are just over the moon with her work on it," he added. "She's a very hard-working person. She grew up in it, so it's in her bones," Cranston gushed about Dearden's passion. "She's in it for the right reasons and she loves it." Having a dad who has won six Emmys, two Golden Globes and two Tonys — just to name a few of his accolades — is surely a boon for Dearden, but Cranston said he's not one to overbearingly offer tips. "Now, as far as advice, I think she picks up it because I'm her dad," he said. "She picks up advice hopefully by the way I behave in this business and navigate my way through." He added, "But I don't ever say, 'Now, young lady, here's some advice I wanna give you.' Kids don't wanna hear that." Dearden made her acting debut in a 2010 episode of Breaking Bad alongside her dad. She then went on to star on the MTV series Sweet/Vicious as Ophelia opposite Eliza Bennett's Jules. The show only aired for one season between 2016 and 2017. Elsewhere on TV, she has starred on season 2 of Netflix's American Vandal in 2018 and had a stint on Apple TV+'s For All Mankind before finding her way to The Pitt. In film, Dearden most notably starred in 2017's Heartthrob and 2020's The Last Champion. Dearden plays Dr. Melissa King on The Pitt, though most of her colleagues at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital call her Mel. Dr. King, a second-year resident, works closely alongside doctors like Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) and Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) and looks after her autistic twin sister, Becca. Also in the cast are Tracey Ifeachor (Dr. Collins), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Whitaker) and Shabana Azeez (Javadi). The Pitt, which wrapped its lauded first season on Max in April, has already been renewed for a second season. In the meantime, season 1 can be streamed in full on Max. Emmy experts predict Drama Series race: ‘Severance' out front, but watch out for ‘The Pitt'

As Emmy voting begins, can Severance hold onto its momentum as the Best Drama Series frontrunner, or might another show steal its thunder? Four top Emmy experts — Variety's Clayton Davis, The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg, Indiewire's Marcus Jones, Deadline's Pete Hammond — predict the race with moderator and Gold Derby editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum in our latest slugfest (watch above). "We have to talk about Severance — that's Apple's main play," says Jones. The sci-fi series has been the category's de facto leader all season long. HBO and Max have an incredible amount of product this year, he says, including The Pitt, The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Industry, and House of the Dragon. He also declares Hulu's apocalyptic series Paradise to be "one of the big newcomers" of the year, with "an amazing performance from Sterling K. Brown." More from GoldDerby 'You killed America's sweetheart!' Kaitlyn Dever teased for offing Pedro Pascal by 'Last of Us' cast, creators as bigger role looms in Season 3 Dan Fogelman and team on the making of 'Paradise': 'It only works if you have talented people who you trust' 'Thank you for dying': 'Squid Game' creator, cast share deeper meanings of hit Netflix series, reveal on-set flower ceremonies for 'killed' actors Feinberg agrees that The Pitt is "the most obvious" freshman drama to receive a nomination, adding, "I think it could even end up winning." Looking beyond the frontrunners, he's "impressed" by how many voters are telling him they're watching Your Friends & Neighbors on Apple TV+. But what about Landman? "That's a real wild card to me because, out in the real world, everybody's watching it, but it's TBD who's watching it in the TV Academy." Hulu "There are a lot of good possibilities in the drama series category," says Hammond. The Handmaid's Tale ended its final season amid "everything going on in the world, and seemingly this show has turned into a documentary, ... Handmaid's Tale is now true life!" As for The Pitt, he thinks it's "so hard to watch" because of all the realistic medical stories, and wishes there were commercials. "I need a break [from all the blood]." Davis is already looking ahead to the Emmy ceremony, claiming, "Win-wise, I think this is Severance vs. The Pitt for the rest of the year. I think The Pitt is so Homeland Season 1 coded. I want to know how many nominations it gets before I can really cross over and say it can do it." He also creates a stir when he mentions how Pedro Pascal should drop down to supporting for The Last of Us because it's "more appropriate" after what happens to his character in Season 2. As for shows that people are actually watching "in the real world," Birnbaum singles out Matlock, with its star Kathy Bates on the cusp of being the oldest winner ever for Best Drama Actress. "It's just such a strong narrative," she says. "You have to imagine voters are going to get swept up with that." Which Emmy expert do you agree with the most?
