Muscat: Oman Air has been named the winner of two prestigious titles at the Apex 2025 Awards, securing Best Food & Beverage and Best Cabin Service in the Middle East. The dual recognition highlights the airline's unwavering dedication to delivering a guest-centric journey that blends authentic Omani hospitality with world-class service standards.
As part of its ongoing drive to elevate the travel experience, Oman Air has recently introduced a series of on-board service enhancements. Among the latest culinary offerings is 'Roqaa Omania', a thoughtfully curated Omani-themed menu, and its bespoke dessert featuring the Omani rock rose in partnership with Oman's renowned fragrance house, Amouage. Combined with exceptional cabin service, every element of the journey is designed to delight guests with the distinctive warmth and charm of Omani hospitality.

For the 2025 honours, passengers rated over one million PNR-verified flights across 600+ airlines using a five-star scale, evaluating seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage, entertainment, and Wi-Fi, all in under 15 seconds via a single-screen interface.

Summer travel plans disrupted amid regional tensions
Muscat: As regional tensions escalate, many holidaymakers have been forced to alter or cancel their travel plans. Iran, traditionally a popular destination for both medical and leisure tourism—particularly the cooler northern regions during summer—has seen a significant shift in tourist movements. Travellers who spent the Eid holidays there are now urgently seeking alternative routes to return home, most likely by road or sea. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, reaffirmed that the Sultanate of Oman is making round-the-clock efforts to facilitate the evacuation of Omani citizens wishing to return. He stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has designated direct contact numbers in both Muscat and Tehran, organised according to citizens' geographical locations. In addition, citizens can communicate via the Ministry's official mobile app and other digital platforms. The Ministry has called on all Omani nationals currently in Shiraz and surrounding areas to gather at designated assembly points in Shiraz and Bandar Abbas. These locations have been specified to ensure the safety and orderly return of citizens to the Sultanate of Oman. Oman Air has announced cancellation of flights to Amman, Jordan.

Air services ramped for Dhofar khareef rush
Salalah – The civil aviation sector has confirmed full readiness to provide safe and smooth travel to Dhofar governorate during the 2025 khareef season, as tourist numbers are expected to rise from within and outside the sultanate. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Oman Airports, Oman Air and SalamAir are coordinating efforts to increase domestic flights and strengthen the operational efficiency of Muscat and Salalah airports. 'The goal is to ensure steady air traffic and maintain high standards of safety and service,' CAA stated. The authority said these measures reflect a unified approach to deliver a sustainable aviation system. The sector remains a key partner in supporting tourism and driving economic growth by providing modern infrastructure and reliable air services. Ahead of the season, the authority has reviewed emergency plans, confirmed the readiness of air traffic control and weather services, and reinforced coordination with all aviation partners. Oman Air will step up operations from early July, with up to 12 daily flights at peak times. SalamAir will increase services from late June through early September, reaching up to eight daily flights in July and August. SalamAir will also operate a new direct route between Suhar and Salalah from mid-July, with one daily flight. To meet the rising demand, Oman Air has added more than 70,000 seats for the season, a 16% increase compared to the last year. SalamAir has boosted capacity by over 58%, offering about 176,000 seats in total. For Omani passengers, Oman Air will maintain fixed fares between July 1 and September 15, starting at RO32 one-way and RO54 return. SalamAir fares start at RO30 one-way and RO48 return. Oman Airports said both Muscat and Salalah airports are ready to handle the expected rush. Measures have been put in place to streamline passenger services from booking to arrival, in line with global best practices. Salalah Airport will offer the 'Travel Easier' service from July 15 to September 15, allowing passengers to check in and drop off luggage between 12 and 6 hours before departure, daily from 8am to 8pm. For the first time, the airport will also introduce vehicle-based check-in, enabling passengers to complete check-in, receive boarding passes and drop off luggage without leaving their cars.

These sessions cover diverse topics such as: the future of jobs in the AI era, career path planning, optimising professional profiles on employment platforms, entrepreneurship, CV writing techniques, interview skills, and career orientation. The forum aims to contribute to career guidance efforts by creating an interactive environment that enables youth to capitalise on available opportunities while developing competencies aligned with Oman's developmental needs and labour market requirements.
