James Bond fans 'work out' next 007 actor after huge 'clue' dropped by brand deal

Daily Record22-05-2025

James Bond fans reckon they have finally worked out who will be the next star in the iconic role
It is the question on the lips of any James Bond fan and it appears that the answer could be finally revealed very soon. That's the opinion of many die-hard 007 followers on social media today, after the announcement that one of the consistent frontrunners for the coveted role has just been announced as the new brand ambassador for Omega, fuelling speculation overdrive.
As brand ambassadors go, there's no one quite as suave and lucrative as Bond, and the association with the film franchise and the world's biggest firms is nothing new, in fact they are integral to the hefty budgets needed to make the movies.

So this new announcement has left many fans of the franchise certain that they have worked out who the next James Bond actor will be, stepping into the shoes of Daniel Craig.

Omega made the announcement earlier today with a picture of actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson looking rather sophisticated and a caption that read: "OMEGA welcomes Aaron Taylor-Johnson to our watchmaking home in Bienne. The actor and Golden Globe winner stepped into our watchmaking home for an exclusive tour, meeting the watchmakers behind our timepieces."
Fans were beside themselves and took to the comments to have their say. One said: "Do I hear the 007 theme?" And one said: "Bro has to be the new James Bond at this point." Another said: "Hello Mr. Bond, we have been expecting you." While on questioned: "could this be our new Bond?"
One fan, bowled over by the spectacle, simply said: "How can one be so beautiful."
It's no wild shot in the dark for fans to think this was a major clue to the next Bond.
For months, MyBettingSites.co.uk has been tracking the Next 007 odds from multiple bookmakers, creating an average of the most likely actors to follow in Daniel Craig's footsteps.

Their most recent update back in March revealed Taylor-Johnson as the number one most likely to be picked for the role, with odds of 4/1 (implied probability: 20%).
Henry Cavill and James Norton were in second and third place, respectively, with Cavill having odds of 22/5 (implied probability: 18.52%) and Norton having odds of 29/5 (implied probability: 14.71%).
Harris Dickinson was in fourth place with odds of 6/1 (implied probability: 14.29%) followed by Theo James in fifth place with odds of 36/5 (implied probability: 12.2%)
A MyBettingSites spokesperson said: "At this point, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been the frontrunner for the role of James Bond for years. While other contenders, such as James Norton and Theo James, have briefly surged to the top spot in recent months, their reigns were short-lived. Taylor-Johnson has once again reclaimed his position as the leading candidate, currently leading with odds of 4/1 to become the next 007."

Tom Jones reveals he 'almost collapsed' while recording iconic James Bond theme tune

Tom Jones recently revealed he 'almost collapsed' while recording the iconic theme tune for the James Bond movie Thunderball, which was released in 1965. The Welsh singer, 85, was recruited last-minute to conjure up a number incorporating the movie's name after Shirley Bassey and Dionne Warwick's attempts were axed by producers for exceeding the opening credits length. Ultimately, composer John Barry and lyricist Don Black placed their bets on Tom, who is renowned for his powerful baritone voice. However, Tom has confessed belting out the song's climactic high note left him close to passing out in the recording booth. Sharing the nerve-wracking incident on Radio 2's Sound of the 60s with Tony Blackburn, Tom said: 'John Barry, who wrote the music, and Don Black did the lyrics, From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'So John Barry said, "Hold the note as long as you can because the music is going to go on longer than that, so don't try to hold it until the end. So just hold it as long as you can and then forget it." I forgot to take a big enough breath.' Tom went on to reveal that the original lyrics were meant to be 'he strikes like thunder' before taking a deep breath and belting out the word 'ball'. He explained: 'But I didn't, so I hit ball and I'm going, and I'm going, and I close my eyes, and I go a little flat towards the end there. You'll hear it just at the end, tapering off, because I couldn't hold it any longer. Recounting the aftermath of singing the last note, he added: 'When I opened my eyes, the room was spinning, so I had to grab hold of the booth I was in to steady myself. I almost went down.' During an interview with Far Out magazine, songwriter Don also recalled how Tom 'got a head rush' while singing the final note of the song. He said: 'The thing I remember most is Tom Jones' recording of the song in which he fainted on the last note. He got a head rush or something. The Bond songs I describe as the lure of the forbidden. It should have the whiff of a boudoir about it.' Explaining his inspiration behind the lyrics of the tune, he added: 'With Thunderball, the first thing I did was look it up in the dictionary. So I scratched my head and used it as a code word, you know, "He strikes like Thunderball". Tom was chosen to perform the James Bond theme tune just a year after achieving chart success with his hit It's Not Unusual. However, Thunderball only reached number 35 in the UK Top 40. Tom has had a stellar career with an impressive tally of 36 UK Top 40 hits and 19 US Top 40 successes. His significant contributions to the music industry were recognised when he was knighted in 2006. However, his version of Thunderball didn't quite hit the mark according to Classic FM, which ranked the song as the fourth-worst James Bond theme in 2022. On the other hand, Shirley's timeless hit Diamonds Are Forever from 1971 was crowned the best James Bond theme by the same publication. The legendary singer, 88, also provided the vocals for Bond themes Goldfinger in 1964 and Moonraker in 1979.

A-list heartthrob new favourite to play next Bond villain

Fans are rejoicing as Pedro Pascal has emerged as the frontrunner to portray the next James Bond villain. The Last of Us and Gladiator 2 star is now the 4/1 favourite, narrowly edging out Cillian Murphy, who trails closely at 5/1, according to online bookmaker Betway. Skyrocketing to fame in the last few years, Pascal's recent run of roles has catapulted him into the global spotlight, making him a tantalising candidate for 007's next adversary. Betway now considers him the most likely star to take on the role, with fans sure to flock to cinemas for a chance to see Pascal's take on a Bond bad guy. 'Pedro Pascal's star power has skyrocketed in recent years,' said Betway spokesperson Mike Reading. 'He's built a global following thanks to standout performances in The Last of Us, Gladiator 2, and even hosting SNL. He is now the 4/1 favourite to take up the mantle of villain in the next James Bond film.' But the odds are growing steeper for the rest of the field. Giancarlo Esposito and Barry Keoghan are both currently sitting at 6/1, while Mad Max: Fury Road star Charlize Theron (the highest-ranked female candidate) is listed at 10/1. Further down the list are Stephen Graham, Saoirse Ronan, and Woody Harrelson, each with 16/1 odds. Graham's name has gained traction recently, thanks to his gritty turn in Adolescence, a performance Betway suggests could bring 'a bold new flavour' to the franchise. The next Bond film, now under the full creative control of Amazon MGM, is still in early development, with no confirmed casting announcements. More Trending Fans are also continuing to speculate about who will take on the role of 007 opposite whoever ends up as the newest Bond Villain (fingers crossed it will be Pascal). Six years after Daniel Craig announced his retirement from the franchise, it appears we are no closer to unveiling the next 007. Former favourite Idris Elba, 52, previously ruled himself out from playing the British spy, while other hotly tipped actors, including James Norton and Theo James, have remained coy. The current front-runner to become Bond is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, while bookies' Ladbrokes have also given preferential odds to the likes of Henry Cavill, Jack Lowden and Tom Hardy. Got a story?
