James Bond fans 'work out' next 007 actor after huge 'clue' dropped by brand deal
James Bond fans reckon they have finally worked out who will be the next star in the iconic role It is the question on the lips of any James Bond fan and it appears that the answer could be finally revealed very soon. That's the opinion of many die-hard 007 followers on social media today, after the announcement that one of the consistent frontrunners for the coveted role has just been announced as the new brand ambassador for Omega, fuelling speculation overdrive. As brand ambassadors go, there's no one quite as suave and lucrative as Bond, and the association with the film franchise and the world's biggest firms is nothing new, in fact they are integral to the hefty budgets needed to make the movies. So this new announcement has left many fans of the franchise certain that they have worked out who the next James Bond actor will be, stepping into the shoes of Daniel Craig. Omega made the announcement earlier today with a picture of actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson looking rather sophisticated and a caption that read: "OMEGA welcomes Aaron Taylor-Johnson to our watchmaking home in Bienne. The actor and Golden Globe winner stepped into our watchmaking home for an exclusive tour, meeting the watchmakers behind our timepieces." Fans were beside themselves and took to the comments to have their say. One said: "Do I hear the 007 theme?" And one said: "Bro has to be the new James Bond at this point." Another said: "Hello Mr. Bond, we have been expecting you." While on questioned: "could this be our new Bond?" One fan, bowled over by the spectacle, simply said: "How can one be so beautiful." It's no wild shot in the dark for fans to think this was a major clue to the next Bond. For months, has been tracking the Next 007 odds from multiple bookmakers, creating an average of the most likely actors to follow in Daniel Craig's footsteps. Their most recent update back in March revealed Taylor-Johnson as the number one most likely to be picked for the role, with odds of 4/1 (implied probability: 20%). Henry Cavill and James Norton were in second and third place, respectively, with Cavill having odds of 22/5 (implied probability: 18.52%) and Norton having odds of 29/5 (implied probability: 14.71%). Harris Dickinson was in fourth place with odds of 6/1 (implied probability: 14.29%) followed by Theo James in fifth place with odds of 36/5 (implied probability: 12.2%) A MyBettingSites spokesperson said: "At this point, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been the frontrunner for the role of James Bond for years. While other contenders, such as James Norton and Theo James, have briefly surged to the top spot in recent months, their reigns were short-lived. Taylor-Johnson has once again reclaimed his position as the leading candidate, currently leading with odds of 4/1 to become the next 007." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Which country is most likely to win Eurovision according to history?
More than half of the Eurovision winners between 1956 and 2024 were women, and all of them were between 25 and 27 years old, according to The UK-based betting agency analysed 71 past winners and their characteristics to find out who might become this year's winner based on historical stats. Slightly over 45% of the past winners sang a pop song, and 49.3% did so in English. The most shared music topic amongst previous winners is love, romance, and relationships at 59.7%. Past winners' songs also share similarities in the titles: 18.4% of their songs started with the letters "D" or "T". In this year's competition, Sissal, representing Denmark with the song "Hallucination," shares the most traits with five characteristics of a typical Eurovision winner. She is a female solo performer who sings a pop song about love in English. This is followed by three other contestants who have four traits of a typical Eurovision winner, the second-highest number of characteristics. Emmy, representing Ireland with the "Laika Party" song, and Miriana Conte, representing Malta with the music named "Serving", are both women, solo performers, singing a pop song in English. Popularity might not dictate the future of the 37 countries, but it can be a good indicator for the public televote. Besides this, the "Big Five" countries - France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom - automatically qualify as the biggest financial contributors to the event. The host country also has a guaranteed participation in the finale and does not need to qualify through the semi-finals. At the beginning of May, Sweden's entry, "Bara bada bastu" by KAJ, was the most-streamed song on Spotify with 38.5 million streams and the most viewed YouTube video with 9.179 million views. Italy's entry, "Volevo essere un duro" by Lucio Corsi, was the second most-streamed song on Spotify, with 37.9 million streams. Meanwhile, French singer Louane is the most followed contestant on Instagram with 1.245 million followers, followed by Tommy Cash from Estonia with 1.17 million followers, and Lucio Corsi from Italy with 1.055 million followers. On TikTok, Louane maintains her spot with 1.3 million followers. Ireland's Emmy and San Marino's Gabry Ponte are right behind Louane since both have 1.2 million followers on TikTok. This year's Eurovision is taking place in Switzerland, the country that hosted the first ever contest back in 1956.
