Georgia makes top six of elite four-star LB recruit
The Georgia Bulldogs are keying in on a major recruit. Four-star linebacker Malik Morris is down to his top six schools, with Georgia being on the list, according to On3. Miami, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Missouri are the other five schools on his list.
Morris is a 2026 four-star linebacker that plays high school football from Lakeland High School in Lakeland, Florida. In 2024, he was the Ledger All-County Defensive Player of the Year, with 95 tackles, 9 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He helped lead Lakeland to a 13-1 record and Florida's 5A title game. Morris also participates in track and field at Lakeland.
Morris doesn't have a visit scheduled with Georgia yet. He does have visits scheduled with Texas A&M, Miami, and Florida, the school that's closest to Lakeland. Florida is about a 2 hour and 15 minute drive from Lakeland.
If Morris were to sign with UGA, he would be the first linebacker added to their 2026 class, a class that is now up to 11th after some elite recruits, including Jared Curtis, committed to Georgia. He could be getting some company, though, with Tyler Atkinson predicted to commit to UGA.
Morris is the 12th-ranked linebacker and 199th-ranked prospect in the nation. The four-star is the No. 27 recruit in Florida.

The effort is connected to the group's goal of having 35 million people playing the sport in the U.S. by 2035. 'The USTA's never been in the coaching business. We're probably the last major tennis federation in the world that doesn't do this. And it's our responsibility. … This is recruitment, marketing, benefits, services, education, certification. What's the future generation of coaching going to look like? We have to start getting high school kids and college kids looking at this as a career," Morris said. 'This is fundamental for U.S. tennis. For the protection of this game, the USTA has to invest in protecting the delivery system of the sport,' he added. 'And for the very first time in our history, we're going to do that.' In June 2024, a 62-page report presented to the USTA Board of Directors included 19 specific recommendations for how to 'increase player safety.' The report was made public less than two months after a tennis player was awarded $9 million in damages by a jury in federal court in Florida following her accusation that the USTA failed to protect her from a coach she said sexually abused her at one of its training centers when she was a teenager. The USTA also was a defendant in four other lawsuits related to sexual abuse of tennis players over the last two decades. ___
