Semiconductor equipment manufacturer ISTE has secured a deal to expand its business range ahead of its market debut on the country's secondary bourse Kosdaq, the company announced Monday.
The customer is an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test company with its headquarters based in the US, ISTE explained.
According to the company, the latest deal shows how the company has been responding to new demand from customers and was able to expand its customer range, strengthening its presence in the chip industry.
Meanwhile, ISTE is set to go public on the tech-laden bourse Kosdaq on Wednesday.
Around 2,074 domestic and international institutions participated in the book building last month, leading to a competitive bid ratio of 1,148-to-1. For retail investors, the ratio stood at 455-to-1. The company attracted 844.4 billion won ($582 million) in subscription deposits.
In its securities registration statement, ISTE projected to post 70.6 billion won in sales this year and log 10.5 billion won in operating profit. It further suggested its key product, the Front Opening Unified Pod cleaner, would generate 34.8 billion won in sales this year, marking a 168 percent on-year growth.
ISTE provides chip cleaning equipment to 13 companies in and out of Korea, including big names such as SK hynix, Samsung Electronics and SK Siltron.
'Visiting the CES trade show held in Las Vegas last month, the HBM (high-bandwidth memory) market is likely to continue expansion, and the market for semiconductor glass substrate is projected to show sharp growth, fostering a favorable environment for the company products,' ISTE CEO Cho Chang-hyun said through a press release.
'We will continue to expand business to boost shareholder return and communicate with investors following the listing.'

KRX recognizes 22 Kosdaq Rising Stars

The Korea Exchange, the country's main stock market operator, has recently selected 22 leading Kosdaq-listed firms as the 2025 Kosdaq Rising Star companies. Since 2009, the KRX has been selecting a number of promising companies listed on the tech-heavy secondary bourse Kosdaq, designating them as Rising Stars for their advanced technologies and growth potential in the global market. Of the 39 Rising Star companies in 2024, 15 made the list again, while seven new companies were added, bringing the total number of Rising Star titleholders this year to 22. According to the bourse operator, Rising Star applicants undergo both quantitative and qualitative evaluations, including financial screening and CEO interviews. A committee composed of internal and external experts makes the final selection. Among this year's awardees also listed last year was Lunit, a Korean medical artificial intelligence startup. Listed on the Kosdaq in 2022, it has a market capitalization of 1.1 trillion won ($785 million). Others reselected are semiconductor material producers Lake Materials and Komico, medical device manufacturer L&C Bio and lithium primary battery manufacturer Vitzrocell. Among those who newly joined the list is ST Pharm, a Korean biopharmaceutical company with a 1.8 trillion won market cap, under the wings of Dong-A Socio Group. ST Pharm specializes in the development and manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates. Others newly selected were bio-solution company Next Biomedical, networking solutions provider Solid, semiconductor material producer Semcns and semiconductor equipment manufacturer DE&T. Designated companies are granted a one-year exemption from annual listing fees and can receive corporate analysis reports, while being offered loans at preferential interest rates. The KRX supports them in hosting investor relations events as well. From 2025, companies can only be given the Rising Star designation five times each. Companies that have been selected as Kosdaq Rising Star five times or more will be listed separately in the Kosdaq Rising Star Hall of Fame on the Korea Exchange website, the bourse operator further explained.

Hyundai Mobis earns ISO 26262 certification for automotive chip R&D process

Hyundai Mobis said Thursday that its research and development process for automotive semiconductors has received ISO 26262 certification from German safety authority Exida. ISO 26262 is the international standard for functional safety in electrical and electronic systems within road vehicles. The certification aims to minimize the risk of safety-related failures in increasingly complex automotive systems. The auto parts developer attained the highest level, automotive safety integrity level D, under the ISO 26262 framework. ASIL is graded from A to D, with D indicating the most stringent safety requirements -- capable of preventing critical failures with over 99 percent reliability. Hyundai Mobis has already developed 16 types of semiconductors, including integrated chips for airbags and power semiconductors for eco-friendly vehicles, all of which are being mass-produced through external foundries. The company expects to produce over 20 million units of these semiconductors this year alone. At the same time, the auto parts developer is accelerating the development of 11 next-generation chips -- including lamp controllers and communication semiconductors -- aiming for completion within the next three years. Hyundai Mobis highlighted the significance of receiving certification across the entire development lifecycle, from chip design to quality verification. This means that future semiconductors developed under the standardized R&D process will automatically meet the same level of safety and reliability as fully certified end products. 'With this certification, we have secured a strategic foundation in the automotive semiconductor sector, which will determine future mobility competitiveness,' said Lee Hee-hyun, vice president of Hyundai Mobis' system semiconductor R&D group. 'We will take the lead in establishing an R&D environment that emphasizes functional safety by strengthening partnerships with major domestic and international companies while internalizing technology.'
