Video: UP Minister Suffers Minor Injuries After Cars In Her Convoy Collide
Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Secondary Education Gulab Devi and another person sustained minor injuries when her convoy ended in a pile-up here on Tuesday, police said.
The incident happened in the afternoon near the Chhijarsi toll plaza in Hapur, they said.
According to officials, the convoy was en route from Delhi to Amroha, when sudden braking of some vehicles in front led to a pile-up.
"Three vehicles in front stopped abruptly, causing the escort vehicle and the minister's car to crash into them. Gulab Devi sustained minor injuries in the accident," an official said.

The minister was immediately transferred to Rama Hospital in another vehicle. Police said they have taken the drivers responsible into custody.
Following the incident, Hapur District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey and Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyananjay Singh visited the spot. They also checked on the minister's condition and ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident.
"Minister Gulab Devi is out of danger and was discharged after medical treatment. The convoy later resumed its journey to Amroha," Pandey said.
Responding to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wished the minister a speedy recovery.
In an X post in Hindi, he said, "I received the distressing news that my colleague, Minister of Secondary Education (Independent Charge) Gulab Devi, was injured in a road accident in Hapur district today. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for her speedy recovery." Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak also expressed concern over the minister's injury and wished her a quickly recovery.

DIG North Kashmir reviews Kupwara security, calls for action against threats
Srinagar, Aug 20 (UNI) Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, today stressed the importance of people-friendly policing while calling for firm action against anti-peace elements. He made the remarks while reviewing the security scenario in the border district of Kupwara and assessing the preparedness of forces on the counter-terrorism front. During the visit, DIG Zaman inspected various operational units and held detailed interactions with SSP Kupwara, Ghulam Jeelani, other officers, and personnel. 'The session involved threadbare discussions, with emphasis laid on maintaining high operational alertness, intelligence sharing, and coordination among all security stakeholders,' a police statement said. Later, the DIG visited TOB (Temporary Operating Base) at Dardpora Lolab, where he reviewed field deployments in sensitive areas and interacted with officers and jawans. He appreciated their dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region. Addressing the officers, DIG Zaman underscored the importance of people-friendly policing alongside firm action against anti-peace elements. He also highlighted the role of community engagement, confidence-building measures, and continuous training of personnel to meet evolving security challenges. Sharma was speaking at the launch of Jaipur Police's campaign 'Sashakt Naari, Jimmedari Hamaari" (Empowered Women, Our Responsibility) here. 'Women's safety is not just for a week, it is a lifelong resolve. Women are a symbol of strength, tolerance and courage. Real change is possible only through collective efforts of youth, citizens and communities," the DGP said. He added that initiatives such as 'Kalika Patrolling', 'Anti-Romeo squads' and 'Nirbhaya squads' have already yielded positive results. 'Jaipur is the second safest city in the country. Our aim is to make it the safest city in the world," Sharma said, urging men to play a role in bringing this change. Western sanctions on Russia have led to discounted oil prices, which India has leveraged. In response to India's imports, US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian exports starting August 28, citing continued purchase of Russian oil. This follows earlier US tariffs, bringing the total to 50%. The US has not applied similar measures to China for its Russian oil purchases. "The sanctions are a tool of unlawful competition. It's always about double standards. A lack of trust, blackmail and pressure, as well as disrespect of national interests. Friends don't behave like that," Babushkin said during the briefing. He added that Russia and BRICS countries never imposed sanctions, calling non-UN and secondary sanctions illegal. India responded firmly to US tariffs, calling them "unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable," pointing out that developing countries must balance energy needs with costs while Western nations have more flexibility in sourcing energy. Last month, the European Union sanctioned the Russian-backed Indian refinery Nayara Energy, prompting a reduction in its processing and trade activities. Despite these hurdles, trade between India and Russia is expected to grow 10% annually, according to Evgeniy Griva, Deputy Trade Representative of Russia to India, Reuters reported.
