Cops have locked down a cemetery in a Scots town after a body was found.

Emergency crews were alerted to the discovery this afternoon, Friday, August 1, at around 4:10pm.

Police are treating the death as 'unexplained' and said their enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

Locals reported that officers have blocked all the entry points to the cemetery as they investigate the death.
An area within the cemetery is said to have been taped off and a heavy police presence remains in the area tonight.
Speaking to STV, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 4.10pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, the body of a man was found in a cemetery in Greenock.
'The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.'
