Alec Baldwin's ‘Rust' misconduct lawsuit against police, prosecutors dismissed
US judge has tossed out a misconduct lawsuit filed by actor Alec Baldwin against New Mexico prosecutors and sheriff's officials over their pursuit of criminal charges against him for the fatal 2021 shooting on the set of the Western movie Rust. Judge Casey Fitch dismissed Baldwin's complaint on Tuesday for lack of 'significant action' in the case over the past 180 days. The one-page order, made public on Wednesday, allows any party in the lawsuit to seek reinstatement within 30 days. In a statement later on Tuesday, Luke Nikas, a lawyer for Baldwin, said settlement discussions were underway. 'We have been in good-faith settlement discussions with the parties to the lawsuit and will be refiling promptly if those discussions are not promptly and favorably resolved,' he said. Baldwin sued special prosecutor Kari Morrissey, District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, Santa Fe County law enforcement investigators and other public officials in January, accusing them of malicious abuse of process, defamation and mishandling of evidence. The lawsuit said the prosecutors and others had conspired to manufacture a criminal case against Baldwin for political and personal gain when they charged him with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The Naked Gun movie review: Liam Neeson plays bumbling cop in hilarious comedy reboot
3.5/5 stars It has been more than three decades since Leslie Nielsen's bumbling police detective last cracked a case, but now The Naked Gun returns, with Liam Neeson assuming the role of Lieutenant Frank Drebin Jr in a belated sequel every bit as childish, ridiculous and laugh-out-loud funny as its predecessors. The film is produced by Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy and Ted, and directed by Akiva Schaffer, who is one-third of the comedy troupe The Lonely Island. It also stars Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser and Danny Huston, who all help unleash an unstoppable barrage of puns, sight gags and ludicrous set-ups. Frank (Neeson) has followed in his father's footsteps and joined the LAPD's Police Squad. When a mysterious electronic 'P.L.O.T. Device' is stolen, all clues point to scheming tech billionaire Richard Cane (Huston). Play Frank is also approached by sultry femme fatale Beth Davenport (Anderson), who believes that her brother's mysterious death is linked to Cane's plans, and sparks soon fly between them. The original Naked Gun, released in 1988, was created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker (or 'ZAZ' as they are known) and was born out of the short-lived Police Squad television show that was taken off air after four episodes.
