New Gray House director focuses on community engagement and funding
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield community got to meet the new executive director at the Gray House.
It was a bonding moment between the executive director and the community. The community got to learn about the current work they do and upcoming projects.
Isabella Brady-Prankus is the new executive director at the nonprofit human service agency. Prankus has been with the Gray House for the past three years. She's helped to increase enrollment in their education programs and develop new community partnerships.She says she'd like to continue these efforts.
'I'm working hard to ensure that we're engaging with our community and we're engaging with funders that are now entering the workforce,' Prankus says. 'I am excited to reach out and meet with individuals who are right out of college and starting their journey into the workforce and starting to realize that in the community service needs that they have.'
The Gray House currently provides groceries to people in need. Along with providing educational services to adults and offering a Kid's Club..which serves children 2 through 5. It helps provide academic support, engage in activities, and enjoy nutritious food.

Retired 22News Anchor Rich Tettemer honored at Springfield Regional Chamber Spotlight
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Regional Chamber gathered Wednesday evening to celebrate a year of progress during its Chamber Spotlight and annual meeting. The night was an extra special occasion as they honored longtime 22News Anchor Rich Tettemer. Rich may have just retired, but the community is still showing appreciation for his years of dedicated service by always keeping western Massachusetts informed. Longtime 22News Anchor Rich Tettemer retires after 37 years It was a heartfelt moment Wednesday night as former 22News anchor Rich Tettemer was recognized for a lifetime of service to western Mass., spending decades earning the trust and hearts of viewers. Tettemer, who recently retired after nearly four decades on air, was named the Richard J. Moriarty Citizen of the Year at the Springfield Regional Chamber's Spotlight and annual meeting, both his family and 22News family proudly watching on. 'So many people have said how much they've respected me and liked watching me, it's unbelievable,' Tettemer said. 'I appreciate it so much.' The event served as a celebration of growth, connection, and the people behind the region's progress, from local leaders within journalism, to law, education, and business. For Rich, it was always about delivering the news to viewers with great integrity and lending out a helping hand outside of the station. 'Because it's about commitment to the community,' Tettemer said. 'The Children's Miracle Work Telethon, the NAMI Walkathon, the Super 60 Luncheon that I host with the Rotary Club. There's a lot of things I've had the chance to be a part of, and it's so cool to be recognized for that.' And after years of shining a light on others and the stories that shaped us, that light now shone on Rich, who is always 'working for you.' 'Always be empathetic to stories that are out there,' Tettemer said. 'You've got to remember that you are not just reading a news story and going on to the next one. Chicopee Fire Department promotes two officers to new ranks
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It was an exciting day in Chicopee on Wednesday for two members of the Chicopee Fire Department, as a new captain and lieutenant were sworn in and pinned. Nicholas Brown was promoted to the rank of captain, and Gregory Pray to the rank of lieutenant. Both of their families, as well as members from the fire department, were there to watch and celebrate their achievements. Chicopee celebrates Portuguese heritage with flag-raising ceremony 'We're going to have two more excellent officers who have done a great job through this process, and they are going to represent us really well,' said Chicopee Fire Captain Katie Collins-Kalbaugh. 'I'm so proud of my dad for becoming captain, because he has been practicing for this the whole time, and he's been really working for this, and we finally got him to be captain,' Captain Brown's daughter Mia said. 'Just to say, I am very proud of him.' 'I am very happy, because it makes us have happy tears,' said Captain Brown's daughter Olivia. Both the new captain and lieutenant completed the rigorous process, including studying for months, taking the assessment test, and completing an interview. Funeral services being held for Southwick beekeeper William Crawford
SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – Calling hours are being held for a Southwick man who died in a crash while tending bees in Oregon, Ohio. William (Bill) Crawford III was the owner of New England Apiaries on Klaus Anderson Road in Southwick and was known for Billy C's Raw Honey. Last week, Crawford was operating a fork-style tractor in Oregon, Ohio, when he was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital for serious injuries, where he later died. Owner of Billy C's Raw Honey in Southwick died in Ohio crash According to his obituary from Graham Hilltown Community Funeral Home, 35-year-old Crawford was a graduate of Westfield High School, Holyoke Community College, Westfield State University, and the University of Florida/Jacksonville. In 2007, he started selling honey from a produce farm he worked for in Westfield before forming Pioneer Valley Apiary in what became New England Apiaries. Billy C's Raw Honey can be found on shelves at Big Y, which offered their condolences on Facebook Tuesday, saying, 'We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our valued vendor partner, former employee and friend, Bill Crawford, owner of New England Apiaries, Home of Billy C's Raw Honey. Bill was a trusted collaborator whose professionalism, creativity and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on our team and the work we accomplished together. Over the years, our partnership with Bill was marked by mutual respect, shared goals and a spirit of collaboration that we deeply cherished. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bill's family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.' Crawford leaves behind his wife, Elaine, and five children. Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at New Gospel Church on Union Street in Westfield. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. In addition, a memorial service will be held on June 20 at the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Georgia.
