Auto-dealerships and OEM operated charging spaces to hold the significant share in semi-public charging setup segment.
OEM partnerships with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and EV charging strategies for auto dealerships are driving the expansion of EV infrastructure. From 2021 to 2023, major OEMs formed key collaborations to enhance charging access. In July 2023, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Stellantis, and GM announced a joint venture to build a high-power charging network in North America. Around the same time, Hyundai, Volvo, Polestar, GM, and Ford secured access to Tesla's NACS Supercharger network, enabling their EVs to use Tesla's charging infrastructure. Earlier in the year, Mercedes-Benz launched a charging network in collaboration with ChargePoint. In 2022, Hyundai expanded its Ionity partnership in Europe, GM integrated multiple CPOs into its Ultium Charge 360 network, and Rivian developed its Adventure Network alongside Electrify America. In December 2024, ChargePoint and General Motors announced plans to install up to 500 ultra-fast EV charging ports across the U.S. under the GM Energy brand. The network is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. Also, these chargers will feature ChargePoint's Omni Port system, allowing vehicles with CCS or NACS connectors to charge without an adapter. The deployment will also include ChargePoint's Express Plus platform, offering charging speeds up to 500kW.
'North America is expected to be the significant Charging as a Service market by 2035.'
Charging as a Service in North America is expanding due to investments in infrastructure, technology, and partnerships. The expansion of Charging as a Service in North America has improved EV accessibility, reduced charging downtime, and supported grid stability. OEMs and charging providers are adding high-power charging networks. For instance, in February 2024, Ionna, a joint venture by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, General Motors, Stellantis, Honda, Hyundai, and Kia, planned to install 30,000 high-power chargers in the region. Tesla is expanding its Supercharger network and has started opening it to non-Tesla EVs. ChargePoint and Electrify America continue to expand Level 2 and DC fast-charging stations. The launch of Ionna and the expansion of Tesla's Supercharger network have increased the availability of high-power chargers, reducing range anxiety for EV owners. The decision to open Tesla Superchargers to non-Tesla vehicles has also improved interoperability, benefiting a wider range of EV users.
CPOs such as ChargeScape are backed by OEMs like Ford, Honda, BMW, and Nissan, to utilize the energy and supply power to the grid. Many CPOs are improving infrastructure through software and partnerships. For instance, Monta, a Danish software company, entered the U.S. market in 2024 to manage one million charging points. Further, Flo, a Canadian CPO, is expanding its North American presence with fleet, commercial, and residential charging solutions. Software-driven infrastructure management by Monta and Flo has optimized network reliability, ensuring better uptime for public and private charging stations. Also, Volta Charging, now owned by Shell, offers ad-supported public charging in high-traffic locations. Volta Charging's ad-supported model has made public charging more cost-effective, encouraging EV adoption in urban areas.

Recent Developments:
In December 2024, Tesla (US) launched the Megapack Charger Station with four Megapack Chargers in the US to support increased travel during the holiday season.
In November 2024, ChargePoint introduced the ChargePoint Essential cloud plan as an alternative to traditional cloud subscriptions. Instead of a fixed subscription fee, the software cost is covered by user-charging payments, with any extra revenue going to the station owner. This plan reduces upfront costs, making EV charging more accessible to customers.
In October 2024, EVBox (France), an ENGIE (France) subsidiary, collaborated with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to install EV charging stations at state parks, museums, and beaches across Illinois. EVBox donated 40 charging stations to provide EV drivers convenient access to charging facilities throughout the state.
In September 2024, ChargePoint introduced an AI-powered driver support tool to diagnose and repair charging stations. It is the first AI-driven system in the EV charging industry designed to detect and resolve charger issues, enhancing reliability.
In June 2024, TELD New Energy (China), a subsidiary of TGOOD Global Ltd. (China), collaborated with ENEOS Corporation to develop EV charging stations and microgrid solutions in China. Both companies aim to establish a joint venture in Beijing, with each company holding a 50% stake.

Leveraged Bitcoin Longs on Bitfinex Weakest Since December and It Could Mean Rally Time
Those who have followed financial markets for some time may have heard of contrary indicators. These metrics are often misleading at first glance – some appear positive but tend to signal a market downtrend, while others that seem negative mark price upswings. One such contrary indicator is leveraged bitcoin longs on the crypto exchange Bitfinex. Historically, the number of leveraged longs on the exchange has tended to slide during bull runs and rise during bearish trends. As of writing, the number of BTCUSD longs on Bitfinex had fallen to 47,691, the lowest since December, offering bullish cues for bitcoin, according to data source TradingView. The tally of longs peaked in the first half of April and has been declining since then, characterizing BTC's rapid recovery from around $75K to record highs of over $110K. "When Bitfinex Long Positions rise, the price tends to fall. When Long Positions drop, the price usually goes up," crypto analytics firm Alphractal said on X. Explaining the conundrum, Alphractal said that traders are typically wrong about the market direction. That leads to forced or discretionary liquidations, which drive the price in the opposite direction. "As long as Bitfinex Long Positions keep dropping, Bitcoin will continue to rise," João Wedson, CEO of Alphractal, noted. The chart shows the contrary nature of the BTCUSD longs on Bitfinex. Since 2021, every major BTC rally, including those seen in November-December last year and the latest one from early April lows, has coincided with the slide in BTCUSD longs on the exchange. On the other hand, BTC's bear trends, including the 2022 crash and the decline from $100K to $75K seen early this year, occurred as BTC/USD longs surged. Why Elon Musk's Attack On Trump Might Be A Genius Move
Is Musk the next Kingmaker? To many watching, Elon Musk's decision to publicly insult President Trump seemed self-destructive, if not outright irrational. After all, Trump is not merely a political contender; he is the sitting President of the United States. And his administration holds the keys to massive government contracts awarded to Musk's companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, and The Boring Company. From electric vehicle subsidies to multi-billion-dollar defense and aerospace deals, Musk's empire is deeply intertwined with Washington policy. So why provoke the President? Why risk alienating the one person who could shut off the federal faucet? At first glance, Musk's recent behavior—mocking Trump's persona and publicly undermining his hallmark tax bill—seems reckless. But what if it is not? While some of this may sound far-fetched, it is not without basis—and not without bias. With significant financial exposure to both Tesla and SpaceX, there is naturally a tendency among investors and observers alike to view Musk's actions as part of a broader strategic play rather than a misstep. It is a theory shaped by both market history and hope. And given Musk's repeated success turning volatility into advantage, it remains a plausible—if highly speculative—possibility. What if the world's richest man is executing a deliberate and calculated power move—not for short-term gain, but for long-term positioning? Consider the numbers. In late 2024 and early 2025, Musk reportedly spent over $300 million supporting Trump's return to the White House—through media platforms, political donations, and influence networks. That support may have helped secure Trump's narrow path to reelection. Within months of Trump's victory, Musk's net worth surged by over $150 billion—a staggering 500x return on his political 'investment.' Arguably, it was the fastest rise in personal net worth in recorded human history. That type of asymmetric gain does not happen by accident. It happens by design. And Musk is still only 53 years old—a young man by political standards. He has decades ahead of him, along with a seemingly endless stream of ideas, energy, and capital. He may not be eligible to run for President himself (as a naturalized citizen), but he is more than capable of shaping who does—and what ideas dominate the political conversation. Importantly, Musk now controls X (formerly Twitter), one of the most powerful social media platforms in the world. With it, he can shape narratives, amplify allies, and control the flow of political discourse at a scale no traditional media outlet can match. He also has virtually unlimited capital at his disposal—far beyond the reach of any political action committee or super PAC. In effect, Elon Musk could become the most influential political kingmaker of our era. And let us not forget: many have underestimated Musk before—and paid dearly. Short-sellers have repeatedly tried to bet against him, only to be humiliated. Tesla has suffered steep declines, but time and again, the stock has rebounded with explosive force, wiping out billions in short positions. Betting against Musk has become a high-risk proposition, bordering on financial self-destruction. He thrives in volatility. He welcomes chaos. And he has mastered the art of turning doubt into dominance. During his brief but highly publicized 'Spring Internship' in the White House, Musk likely absorbed far more than just headlines. He got a firsthand view of how political messaging is crafted, how power is distributed, and how influence is accumulated—not just through policy, but through provocation, platform control, and personal brand. And perhaps this is not personal—it is transactional. Musk left the White House with what many interpreted as a symbolic 'golden key': access, influence, and alignment. Yet, within days of departing, he turned sharply critical. This timing suggests not a spontaneous outburst, but a calculated pivot. Some speculate that Trump's decision to reject Musk's preferred candidate for NASA Administrator may have played a role. Others point to the fact that Tesla—despite leading the EV revolution—was excluded from new vehicle credits in Trump's proposed tax package. The omission could cost Tesla billions. Was Musk's shift ideological? Possibly. But more likely, it was about money and control. And Trump likely understands that. To be clear, President Trump is doing nothing wrong in this exchange. In fact, he has remained composed, focused on his policy agenda, and largely above the fray. He appears presidential. And perhaps he recognizes what others may not: the proverbial sandbox is plenty big for both of them. There is room in American politics for powerful forces to compete—and coexist. Critics may call Musk's approach erratic, but history has shown that he often plays the long game better than anyone. Maybe this public feud is not a mistake. Maybe it is a strategic play to build influence, control narratives, and shape the next decade of power and innovation. Maybe, just maybe—it is genius. -------------------------- Disclosure: Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
