Huddersfield sink Leicester in shoot-out to set up trip to Sunderland
The hosts held Leicester at bay until nine minutes after the break, when right-back Hamza Choudhury smashed a half-cleared ball into the far top corner.
That brought the game to life and Huddersfield reacted best, with Roosken awarded a penalty after Choudhury brought him down. Dion Charles' spot-kick was saved, but 19-year-old midfielder Dan Vost headed home the rebound in the 65th minute for his first senior goal.
Leicester restored their lead three minutes later, with Stephy Mavididi squaring for fellow substitute Harry Winks to curl into the bottom corner.
Again Huddersfield found a response, with youngster Cameron Ashia claiming his second goal in as many games by curling a fantastic effort into the top corner for 2-2.
That sent the game to a penalty shoot-out, where Huddersfield prevailed 3-2 as Bilal El Khannouss hit the post and Terriers goalkeeper Lee Nicholls saved two Leicester efforts.
Huddersfield's reward for their progress is a trip to Premier League Sunderland in the second round.

Jamie Vardy tipped to join Celtic for the season – but there's a catch
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) JAMIE VARDY has been tipped to go to Celtic for a season under former coach Brendan Rodgers. But there are not one but potentially two major stumbling blocks to the move, according to a pundit. 1 Brendan Rodgers worked with Jamie Vardy when head coach of Leicester Credit: AFP Vardy, 38, is a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of the season. He has been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia, MLS and at one point was mentioned as a potential target for Rangers. But in recent weeks his name has appeared in connection with a move to Celtic. That's in part because Brendan Rodgers doesn't appear to be 100 per cent sold on Adam Idah while new signings Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand can be considered as more long-term projects, particularly so in the case of Osmand. The Hoops reportedly had a bid of £6.9million thrown out for Romanian striker Louis Munteanu last month but in Vardy they would be able to obtain a cheaper alternative to add firepower in front of goal. Former Celtic striker Andy Walker thinks even at his age, Rodgers could get another season out of Vardy and he would be a potent striker. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: "Brendan Rodgers would know the player, his ability, his fitness levels. "I know he's 38 but I'm sure you could get another season out of him if he is still really fit, well and sharp. No one would know that better than Brendan Rodgers. "Whether he is on the list, I'm sure they've got strikers they are looking at." But fellow pundit and ex-Rangers coach Billy Dodds thinks Vardy's wage demands could make a move difficult - combined with the fact that he might not even start every week. Sarmiento launch a throw back shirt design inspired by Celtic Dodds said: "He would cost a lot in wages but he wouldn't cost a lot in transfer fee because he's a free. It wouldn't be a daft one, but they'll probably have other signing targets in the striking position before Vardy. "The one thing I would add is that I've been reading that he wants to play. I don't think he's guaranteed that at Celtic playing week in, week out. "When you get someone of that experience and he's not playing, I'm not saying he wouldn't be happy but he's already made it clear he wants to go somewhere and play every game before he finishes his career." Do Sunderland have the blueprint to stay up?
Last season, we had to wait until 5 October for any of the three promoted clubs - Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton - to get their first history suggests a fast start is crucial for promoted top-flight sides. In the past 10 seasons, all 12 promoted clubs who have accrued 11 points or more in their opening 10 games have avoided contrast, only two of the 18 teams with 10 or fewer points after the same number of matches have stayed were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Thomas Frank's Tottenham on Saturday afternoon, while Leeds - who welcome Everton to Elland Road on Monday - have their work cut out to match Sunderland's memorable opening-day games coming up against the newly promoted Clarets, and a Brentford side in transition following Frank's departure, Le Bris and his players will fancy their chances of building on their phenomenal England international - and Sunderland fan - Steph Houghton told Final Score: "We've got to look to go to Burnley and try and win the game. We'll definitely be going into the match full of confidence."Le Bris has built a young squad with lots of pace, especially in forward areas. When you create those chances you have to take them and that's exactly what they did."The Sunderland fans always make plenty of noise and hopefully they can make Turf Moor feel like the Stadium of Light next weekend."
