Argos shoppers grab Apple's iPhone at 'lowest ever' price using very simple tip

Daily Mirror6 hours ago

If you are in need of a new iPhone, Argos has a very good deal worth checking out.
It's pretty rare to find a genuinely decent deal on Apple's popular iPhones, but that's exactly what Argos is dishing out right now. The UK retailer is currently offering its 'lowest ever' price on one of these devices, and the deal is clearly proving popular, with Argos confirming that it is 'in demand' and 'selling fast'.
The deal is available on the iPhone 13, which first launched back in 2021 and costs a whopping £679. Thanks to being superseded by the iPhone 14, iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, this call maker has been reduced at most stores with prices starting from £425.
That's a decent deal, but there's a simple tip which makes things even cheaper. If you head to the Argos website and find the iPhone 13 product page, you'll see that three colours are available, including Starlight, Midnight and Green.
Starlight and Midnight models both get that £425 price but click on Green and things are slashed to just £385 that's the 'lowest ever' Argos price and also beats others stores including Amazon and Currys.
Of course, Green might not be your favourite colour, but most people pop a case on their devices, which means the design is rarely seen.
The iPhone 13 might be a few years old but it still has plenty going for it.
For the low £385 price you get a device that features a speedy A15 Bionic processor, 6.1-inch screen, dual-lens camera and Ceramic Shield design that helps prevent cracks and smashed screens when dropped.
It's also fully 5G ready, gets decent battery life, wireless charging and 128GB of storage.
As we mentioned earlier, the iPhone 13 has now been superseded by newer iPhones from Apple, which get bonus extras such as Crash Detection, USB-C charging, improved cameras and Apple Intelligence (iPhone 16 only).
That said, some of those call makers cost hundreds of pounds extra and if they are out of your price range then the iPhone 13 is still a perfectly decent device.

Apple to expand digital car key feature to more brands

Published: | Updated: Apple wants you to ditch your car keys. The world's third-largest company announced it's expanding the Apple Wallet car key support to include even more automakers. That means more drivers will soon be able to lock, unlock, and even start their cars directly from their iPhones. And some drivers will be able to ditch their clunky keys and fobs. Apple first launched digital car keys in 2020, but until now, the feature was limited to a handful of high-end vehicles from specific brands. Acura, Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC are joining the lineup in the US, bringing the total number of global partner brands to 13, Apple said on Monday at its Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC. Until now, the feature was only in cars produced by luxury automakers like Volvo, Genesis, Rivian, Audi, and BMW — and only in some of their products. Hyundai and Kia were the only budget-friendly options in the original rollout. Apple didn't say exactly when the feature will be available in new cars, only saying the launch was coming 'soon.' A representative didn't immediately respond to request for comment. It's a move that continues Apple's slow but deliberate push into the auto industry. Between 2014 and 2024, the company spent billions attempting to develop an Apple Car, codenamed 'Project Titan .' But after 10 years in the lab, Apple cancelled the project last year . Instead, the tech giant has poured millions of dollars into developing its popular phone-mirroring system that projects apps and widgets onto car screens, called Apple CarPlay. The investment shows the tech giant is clearly interested in becoming the digital interface for the modern vehicle. Apple also unveiled a new look and feel for soon-to-launch CarPlay updates. The company teased a redesigned version of the system with its controversial Liquid Glass aesthetic, interactive tiles, and new standby widgets that keep things like clocks and calendar events visible while the car idles. Not every automaker is on board with Apple's vision for the dashboard. The CarPlay update has faced a surprising amount of resistance in the automotive sector. General Motors — which owns Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC — has already started phasing out Apple CarPlay in its new electric vehicles. Instead of mirroring your iPhone, GM's EVs now run on Ultifi, its in-house software platform. The company has poured millions into developing the system as part of a broader strategy to control the user experience — and the valuable data that comes with it. And GM isn't alone. Some of the biggest names in the EV world, including Tesla and Rivian , have never supported CarPlay. These automakers are betting that drivers will adapt to native systems that are more tightly integrated with the car itself.

'No space for Bezos': Venetians protest Amazon founder's grandiose wedding plan

As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, prepare for a lavish, star-studded wedding in Venice, not everyone in the Italian city is happy about the impending nuptials. "No space for Bezos," a sign read at a protest by residents who say the famed canal city is already overrun by tourists, billionaires, or otherwise. Protesters say their issue is with the happy couple and authorities, like Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, who said he was "ashamed" by the protests. "We want to send a very clear message: The ones who should be ashamed are them," protester Federica Toninello told Reuters. "They are the people who have destroyed this city." Venice's two-square-mile main island and historic center, home to about 50,000 people, receives about 20 million visitors yearly, mostly day-trippers from cruise ships or other cities. While tourism is central to Venice's economy and cultural identity, critics say it has displaced residents and damaged historic sites. Venetians' wedding wariness comes as demonstrators across Southern Europe rallied over the weekend against mass tourism. Residents protested on the Spanish island of Mallorca and in Spanish cities such as Barcelona — where tourists were spritzed with water guns — as well as in Venice and Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Officials in Venice are aware of the problem, and last year Brugnaro introduced a daily entrance fee of 5 euros ($5.79). But Brugnaro and others are rolling out the red carpet for Bezos, the world's fourth-richest person after fellow tech titans Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Larry Ellison, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Brugnaro said Bezos had "achieved great things on a global level" and that the city was "extremely proud" to host him. "It is an honor that he is coming to Venice," he said. Though details of the Bezos-Sánchez wedding are top secret, according to Vogue, the guest list could include celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Katy Perry — Sánchez's crewmate on an April spaceflight by Bezos' Blue Origin — and at least some of the Kardashians. In a statement to NBC News, city hall officials said regular taxi and water transports would continue during the wedding festivities, which are reportedly set to begin June 24. Officials said only about 30 of the 280 water taxis have been reserved, and only three or four hotels will be used for the event. "The city is fully accustomed to hosting high-profile events of this nature and scale, including other celebrity weddings, international summits such as the G7 and G20, as well as traditional events like the Festa del Redentore and the Venice Biennale," the statement said. City officials added that "the celebrations, attended by 250 guests, will blend into the daily rhythm of a city that, with dignity and respect, welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world while safeguarding the quality of life for its residents, workers, and students." "Protest initiatives are in no way representative of the majority of citizens, who are proud that Venice has been chosen as the wedding location," the statement added. Amal Alamuddin.
