Island Vibes and English Garden Charm Came Together at This Vibrant, Personalized Wedding in Southern California
Jamie Evans and Kevin Herde met on the night of July 13, 2018, when a night out with their respective friends led them to the same bar in Del Mar, California. "Kevin and I started talking and he gave me his business card," Jamie remembers. "I went home, and texted him a few days later." They met up the following weekend for brunch and a horse race, and the two quickly became an item after bonding over their shared love of good food and gambling.
Kevin proposed to Jamie in St. Lucia on the last night of a week-long cruise in March of 2023, popping the question with two different engagement rings—one, the real deal, and a second travel-ready replica that Jamie could wear when she vacations and snorkels. "It was such a special and sweet time together," Jamie says. "We had champagne to celebrate, and then continued the celebration in the cocktail lounge on the boat."
On September 16, 2023, Jamie and Kevin were married at Rancho Valencia Hotel and Spa in Rancho Santa Fe, California, in front of 130 guests. As regulars at the hotel's Pony Club, the venue felt like a natural choice for their wedding. The duo envisioned a flower-filled celebration inspired by the private island of Mustique and a tropical take on English cottage gardens. With support from Susanne Duffy from Crown Weddings and Events, the bride and groom planned an eclectic mix of textures, vibrant colors like fuchsia, coral, peach, yellow, and green, and playful bird motifs. Read on to see how photographer Jenny Quicksall captured the fun details of the couple's wedding day—from a Hawaiian-inspired ceremony to a flower-focused reception and Vegas-inspired after-party.

Jamie and Kevin trusted Wendy Ware Design to create their custom sage green wedding invitation suite with hand-painted florals and birds; on the big day, those motifs were repeatedly seen in couple's décor. The suite was finished with a translucent vellum overlay featuring painted floral designs.

Jenny Quicksall, the couple's photographer, recommended they share a first look before the ceremony, and the bride is so glad they listened to her expert advice. 'It was such a special time for us to spend together, and I actually think it helped ease my nerves a little bit,' she said.
When she went shopping for her wedding dress, she tried on nearly every style available to her, but was starting to feel discouraged that she wouldn't find "the one." She gave one more salon a try and was pleased to narrow down her selection to two great choices. Then, she FaceTimed her parents to get their advice. Though they liked both looks, it was clear when her dad gasped after seeing her in the second one that the Rosa Clará gown with a sweetheart neckline, mermaid silhouette, and cathedral-length train was the right choice for her big day.
Jamie added a meaningful touch to the gown by adding buttons from her grandmother's wedding dress, which was made in 1943. 'My mom wore this dress for her wedding in 1983,' she says. 'All of our weddings were 40 years apart. It was such a special and personal touch.' She accessorized with a diamond tennis bracelet. emerald-cut diamond solitaire necklace, and custom emerald-cut diamond earrings. A veil from Rosa Clará's accessory collection completed her wedding day look.
Jamie's vibrant bridal bouquet included David Austin roses, Beatrice, Effie, and hot pink glorious lilies, Baronesse garden roses, yellow butterfly ranunculus, and yellow oncidium orchids.
For the first look, Kevin wore the first of three wedding day looks; a formal black Armani tuxedo with a tie and shoes by Ferragamo. Jamie's beloved dog, Tito, joined them for some photos in a custom tuxedo during their first look, too!

The couple's ceremony was decorated with clusters of meadow-style floral arrangements that appeared to grow naturally from the woven aisle runner, transforming the space into a garden-like setting. Guests were seated in a variety of seating options, from oval ottomans and wooden benches to chairs and stools.
An asymmetrical arch was created out of tropical florals and framed with blush drapery, serving as the backdrop for Jamie and Kevin's vow exchange.
Kevin, who wore a navy Zegna suit for the ceremony, his kids, and Tito walked down the aisle to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." Next, Jamie's dad, Tom, walked her down the aisle to 'When You Say Nothing at All' by Alison Kraus. 'It was such a special moment, and it is one that I will never forget,' she says. 'I was so at peace with him by my side, and he definitely was my rock and solid foundation when I was becoming teary eyed.'
The couple exchanged personal vows during the ceremony, and they were surprised to find they both included the same promises and memories. 'Getting through the vows without crying was quite the challenge,' Jamie recalls. 'They were great because both of us touched on some inside jokes, some favorite memories, and admirable qualities about one another.'
Cocktail hour was held in the same space at the ceremony, so the wedding planning team came up with a creative solution to hide the bars while the couple exchanged vows; once Jamie and Kevin were pronounced husband and wife, the blush drapery was pulled back to reveal bars, effortlessly transforming the area.
Round tables and high tops, which were dressed in teal and white patterned linens and decorated with organic floral centerpieces with pops of coral, yellow, and fuchsia, were brought in for guests.
The couple hired Ben Benavente to play acoustic guitar during cocktail hour, and her played Hawaiian-style reggae as a nod to the couple's love of the islands. Along with a charcuterie table, they served passed hors d'oeuvres like arancini and caviar on potato chips with creme fraiche.
Jamie and Kevin also served three signature drinks. First, they invited guests to try a "No Ka Oi" on the rocks, Jamie's favorite drink she discovered while vacationing in Maui. They also served Kevin's favorite drink, a gin and tonic, along with 'Tito's Soda and Lime' as a nod to the couple's dog. Wendy Ware Design painted the day-of signage, including a portrait of Tito.
The reception was held in a custom enclosed space surrounded by garden-style hedges. The entrance was flanked with oversized flower arrangements in rattan vases on matching rattan pedestals for added height. An eclectic mix of lighting from string lights to feather lamps and woven pendant lights filled the space.
Jamie and Kevin added a commissioned a sage green bar with arched shelving and worked with Dawn from Tularosa Flowers to fill the space with flowers from floor to ceiling. Garlands of colorful blooms were hung from the ceiling in clusters, and a custom dance floor with the hand-painted florals from their invitation suite took center stage.

Tables were surrounded by a variety of different seats, from modern sage green chairs to classic white cane back chairs. Some tables had floral patterned floor-length linens, while others were kept bare or had matching floral table runners instead.
Along with lush garden-style floral arrangements, the tables were decorated with tea candles, pillar candles in glass hurricanes, and taper candles in glass holders. Each place card was hand-painted with the guest's name, flowers, and a bird. Woven chargers and white textured plates were paired with gold flatware, sage napkins with wooden napkin rings, and hand-painted vellum-covered menus.
Pink velvet stools were added to the bar, and ornate bird candle holders were transformed into vessels for fresh flowers as a unique touch.
Guests lifted the floral-patterned vellum overlay to reveal the dinner menu, which featured some of the couple's favorite foods, like spare ribs, sea bass, and risotto. For dessert, they skipped the formal wedding cake and served miniature key lime pies instead, Jamie's favorite treat.
'My dad gave an opening toast and prayer,' the bride remembers. His words were followed by more speeches from Jamie's best friend, her brother, and Kevin's two best friends. 'There were so many laughs and a few tears,' Jamie says.
The bride and groom shared their first dance to 'Forever and Ever Amen' by Randy Travis. 'We just went out there and danced our hearts out,' Jamie notes. "It was so pure and sweet." Jamie and her dad danced to George Strait's 'Love Without End' and Kevin danced with his daughter, Alexa, to 'One Call Away' by Charlie Puth.
They hired Down Beat Band to keep guests on their feet with music from Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, and Michael Jackson.
At the couple's Vegas-inspired after-party, they brought out roulette tables, eclectic bird-shaped bowls of candy, and a DJ to play their favorite 90's and 2000's hip hop. As a fun twist, the couple offered fake money and poker chips featuring their face and wedding monogram, which everyone gambled with throughout the evening.
Jamie and Kevin spent their honeymoon in Dubai and the Maldives. There, they snorkeled, enjoyed boat rides, and ate at an underwater restaurant. 'It was a bucket list trip and better than I could have ever imagined!' Jamie says.
Trying to personalize your own wedding right now? The couple recommend adding plenty of touches that make your celebration uniquely you. 'It was so important to us to create a wedding that was tasteful yet not stuffy,' Jamie says. 'Our wedding was totally us; islands, music, eclectic, casino, lively, funky and upbeat.'

Kumail Nanjiani describes meeting Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg — and why Musk 'didn't like' his show 'Silicon Valley'
" Silicon Valley" followed a crew of lame, socially awkward tech bros. The real Valley leaders weren't impressed. Kumail Nanjiani, an actor from the hit 2010s HBO show, said that he met both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. On Mike Birbiglia's "Working it Out" podcast, Nanjiani said that neither tech mogul was quite pleased with him. Nanjiani said that Musk "didn't like the show" — and specifically its first scene. At the start of "Silicon Valley," Kid Rock performs a rock set with electric guitars and strobe lights. After setting off sparklers, the camera cuts to the audience, revealing a scattered crowd of nerdy tech guys not paying attention. "Elon was upset," Nanjiani said. "He was like, 'Well, the parties I go to are much cooler than these parties.'" Musk is known to party. In 2023, he attended a meeting with France's then-Prime Minister Emannuel Macron unshaven. Hours earlier, he was spotted on the dance floor of a luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Nanjiani shared his response to Musk's criticism: "You're one of the richest people in the world. We're losers on the show. Of course, your parties are better than my parties. What are you talking about?" The "Silicon Valley" actor said he met Mark Zuckerberg briefly backstage at an awards ceremony — and the Meta CEO was also unimpressed. Nanjiani described an awards show for scientists, where he and his costar Martin Starr presented during the peak of "Silicon Valley." The duo changed their onstage dialogue to replicate a particularly graphic comedy bit from the end of "Silicon Valley" season one. "[It was] for scientists who many of them don't speak English," Nanjiani said. "Almost none of them knew who we were or what the fuck we were talking about." The crowd was silent for the entire five minutes of the bit, Nanjiani said. He said that after leaving the stage, Zuckerberg approached him. "He came up and he was like, 'What the fuck was that?'" Nanjiani said. "Truly, in that moment, he was right." Nanjiani was more accepting of the Meta CEO's coolness. "I don't blame Zuckerberg for not liking us," he said.

If Your Kid Loved 'KPop Demon Hunters,' Here are 8 More Movies to Watch
Fact checked by Sarah Scott My family first watched KPop Demon Hunters by accident this summer, at a beach house with some friends. I'm not sure if the popular Netflix movie was completely appropriate for my 4-year-old, but that did not stop her from falling in love with it. Now, when we're not listening to 'Golden' for the 11 millionth time, we're guessing how many HUNTR/X-inspired costumes we expect to see this Halloween, or telling her that yes, Rumi's purple braid is awesome but no, she's not quite old enough to dye her hair yet. As much as we all love (and love to love) this fun and flashy Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque movie about Korean demon hunting pop stars and its incredible soundtrack, sometimes we all need to mix things up a little in the rotation of movies our kids want to watch. If it's time to change the channel (even just for a day or two), but your family loves KPop Demon Hunters, here are 8 more similar movies to watch next. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) No movie in recent memory handles the early teen years with as much tenderness and respect as this excellent Seth Rogan-produced film, which we also named one of the best movies of 2023. It follows the turtles as they emerge from the shelter of the sewers to try to become perfectly normal New York City teenagers. While some of the scary parts might be too scary for the very youngest movie-goer—like the parts when our crime-fighting friends are attacked by a hoards of mutants—the beautifully-animated film is only rated PG (same as Demon Hunters) and most kids who can handle the HUNTR/X plotline are ready for some Mutant mayhem. Where to watch: Paramount+ Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) For the KPop Demon Hunters fan who is a little too young for TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, Raya and The Last Dragon might be a better fit. A Disney film set in a fictional Southeast Asian country of Kumandra, this animated film features a brave warrior princess hoping to free her father from a curse, and the friendly dragon friend who helps her do battles with evil spirits, as well as a star-studded voice cast including Sandra Oh and Awkwafina. The movie also introduces young audiences to some of the culture, traditions, and cuisine of Southeast Asia. Where to watch: Disney+ Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) Anyone who has seen it will tell you that The Last Wish goes so much harder than it needed to. The film follows Puss in Boots as he attempts to retire from a life of adventure after finding out he's lost eight of his nine lives. But when he learns about the Wishing Star, he decides to track it down and wish for his lives back. It's a movie with staying power for kids and adults, but keep in mind that it's rated PG. Given that Death is stalking Puss in Boots in the form of a wolf before he can find the star, parents of young kids may want to be more cautious—that said, if they can handle the action in KPop Demon Hunters, they can handle this one, too. Where to watch: Peacock Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018) A refreshing take on the classic comic-inspired movie, this movie follows a Puerto Rican teenager living in New York City named Miles Morales. When Morales inherits Spider-Man's role as the city's hero, he meets other versions of Spider Beings that have accidentally dropped into his dimension, including Gwen Stacey, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham (yes, he is a pig). This gorgeous and much-acclaimed movie—the inventive animation, which was meant to closely mimic the look of a comic book, earned it the Best Animated Feature award at the 2018 Oscars—is an easy family movie night win, especially for those with tweens and young teens. No one will complain about taking a break from Rumi, Mira and Zoey—they'll be too busy watching Spidey, Spidey and Spidey. Where to Watch: Hulu Nimona (2023) Based on a graphic novel, Nimona—which follows a teenage shapeshifter on a fantastical journey full of surprises and twists — is darker in tone and music-forward. The setting also makes it one of the more original movies on this list: Nimona's world combines both medieval and futuristic elements. Nimona eventually teams up with Ballister Boldheart, a fugitive and disgraced knight, to help solve a murder. With comic-con vibes and a complex main character that defies simple characterization, teens and tweens will especially appreciate this story of unlikely friendship—that's why it's time to add Nimona to the top of your queue. Where to watch: Netflix Turning Red (2022) No movie has spoken to the tender tween years quite as directly as Pixar's 2022 film, Turning Red. Mei Lee lives with her protective mother in Toronto; she loves boy bands and has a crush on a convenience store clerk—and she discovers she has the ability to transform into a giant red panda. Mei, who is Chinese, inherited this trait as did all the other women in her family—including her mother, with whom she has a strained and tense relationship. The heart of the movie is not just Mei's struggle to adapt to this huge life change, it's also how she uses it as an opportunity to repair her relationship with her mom. Just as with Demon Hunters, music and fan culture is a huge part of this movie and the score includes an original song by Billie Eilish. Plus, filmmaker Domee Shi has said that classic anime like Sailor Moon heavily influenced the animation style. Where to Watch: Disney+ Over The Moon (2020) With some darker themes (a mother who passes away from an illness, grief, and loss) this family-focused movie is ultimately heart-warming and inspiring. Set in a Chinese village, the movie follows a little girl named Fei Fei who builds a rocketship so that she can fly to the moon in search of the moon goddess. The soundtrack also includes several pop-style songs your kids will be singing along to for months. Where to watch: Netflix Leo (2023) While there's no demon-fighting KPop stars in sight, Leo actually checks a lot of the same boxes as KPop Demon Hunters in that it's as entertaining for little kids as it is for older kids and tweens. Centered around a fifth grade classroom pet named Leo, an elderly lizard who can talk. Leo, whose only dream is to visit the Everglades, imparts his wisdom on the students who take him home each week. This sweet Adam Sandler film is a tender coming-of-age story. ‘Peacemaker' is back for Season 2: How to watch, release schedule, cast
New York Post may be compensated and/or receive an affiliate commission if you click or buy through our links. Featured pricing is subject to change. There's never a bad time to rock, and there's never a bad time to watch 'Peacemaker.' Three years after the DC Comics-inspired TV series dropped its first season, 'Peacemaker' is finally back for Season 2 on HBO Max. 'Peacemaker' follows the titular antihero (John Cena) in the aftermath of 'The Suicide Squad,' as he's tapped to join a new mission in exchange for time off his prison sentence. In Season 2, Peacemaker is forced to face his traumatic past and find a way forward as he discovers alternate universes where he has a completely different (sometimes better) life. Season 2 will also debut a different opening credits sequence where the entire cast will perform a new dance to 'Oh Lord' by Foxy Shazam. The new season, written entirely by creator James Gunn, exists in the new DC Universe (DCU) that officially kicked off with Gunn's 'Superman' earlier this year; because of this, characters from that film will appear throughout Season 2 of 'Peacemaker.' While Season 1 is technically set in a different DC cinematic universe, most of what happens in that first eight-episode season is still canon to the 'Peacemaker' story. 'Peacemaker' release time: When does 'Peacemaker' Season 2 come out? 'Peacemaker' Season 2 premieres tonight, Aug. 21, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max. New episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET through Oct. 9. How to watch 'Peacemaker' Season 2 'Peacemaker' Season 2 is airing exclusively on HBO Max. Episode 1: 'The Ties That Grind' – Aug. 21 Aug. 21 Episode 2: 'A Man Is Only as Good as His Bird' – Aug. 28 Aug. 28 Episode 3: 'Another Rick up My Sleeve' – Sept. 4 Sept. 4 Episode 4: 'Need I Say Door' – Sept. 11 Sept. 11 Episode 5: 'Back to the Suture' – Sept. 18 Sept. 18 Episode 6 – Sept. 25 Sept. 25 Episode 7 – Oct. 2 Oct. 2 Episode 8 – Oct. 9 'Peacemaker' cast: Who is returning and who is new for Season 2? Of course, the aforementioned Cena is back as Chris Smith / Peacemaker (and he'll also portray some alternate universe versions of Chris), alongside the rest of the 11th Street Kids: Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos. Robert Patrick is also set to return as Auggie Smith / The White Dragon, Peacemaker's father, and Nhut Le is back as Judomaster. Some more familiar DCU faces will make their 'Peacemaker' debuts in Season 2 as well; Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner / Green Lanter), Isabela Merced (Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl), Sean Gunn (Maxwell Lord), and Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.) reprise their roles from 'Superman.' Additionally, Tim Meadows will portray ARGUS agent Langston Fleury, Sol Rodríguez will play Sasha Bordeaux, Michael Rooker will play Red St. Wild, and David Denman has been cast in an unannounced role. How to stream 'Superman' at home Last week, 'Superman' flew onto home theater screens as it dropped on-demand from platforms like Prime Video. You can buy it for $29.99 or rent for $24.99 now. Gunn confirmed that the film's home video release after just over a month in theaters was due to 'Peacemaker's Season 2 premiere, stating, 'I wanted everyone to be able to see 'Superman' that wanted to, even those people who couldn't get to a theater before 'Peacemaker.' And that's really the reason for it.'
