Param Sundari first look: Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in another ‘north meets south' Bollywood flick. Watch
Maddock Films have just released the first look for their upcoming romantic film Param Sundari, featuring stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. Tushar Jalota will be helming the project, and from an initial glance, the film looks like a 'two lovers from different backgrounds' story, a thread both actors have pulled in their prior films.
Param (Sidharth) and Sundari (Janhvi) belong to opposite sides of our country, with the former likely playing a 'loud and heart-on-his-sleeve' kind of guy from the North and the latter emulating a sophisticated, sober and intelligent girl from the South. The video introduces them as such, with the grand shots of the two dancing and singing amid nature, wearing matching outfits for every different shot. A montage of shots then comes together, showcasing the obvious troubles they are going to face in the story, such as Param being chased by people presumably from Sundari's family or Param walking away from a house that seems to be decorated for a wedding while someone who is Sundari turns her back to him.

The first look seems to give a sneak peek into a story that is going to be through and through Bollywood, with fans likening it to 'Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-like' dance sequences and the 'Ranbir Kapoor walking away from a wedding' sequences. Director Tushar Jalota is being joined by Sachin-Jigar for the music of the film, while Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned the lyrics.
While Sidharth is coming off a lacklustre performance in Yodha (2024), Janhvi just experienced a career-defining moment just a few days ago when Homebound, a film she was starring in alongside Ishaan Khatter, received a 9-minute-long ovation at the Cannes International Film Festival. As Sidharth looks for a win on the professional front, he has his hands full on the personal side, as he and wife Kiara Advani are expecting their first child soon. The Bollywood couple announced the pregnancy earlier this year.

Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah accused of abuse, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions breaks silence
Neeraj Ghaywan's latest film Homebound recently made waves with its screening at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, earning a 9-minute standing ovation and widespread acclaim. The film continues to make news but for the wrong reasons. Its cinematographer Pratik Shah has been accused of 'abuse' and 'inappropriate behaviour' towards multiple women. On Saturday, Karan Johar's production house Dharma Productions issued a statement on the matter, asserting their zero-tolerance policy. Times of India quoted their statement: 'At Dharma Productions, we have a zero tolerance policy against inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment towards any individual working with us in any capacity, and we treat sexual harassment cases very seriously.' 'Mr. Pratik Shah was a freelancer on the project Homebound and was working on it for a limited period. His engagement with us has been completed. During this limited period, our internal committee for POSH didn't receive any complaints against him from any cast or crew on our film Homebound.' Pratik Shah is best known for his work in films Jubilee, CTRL and Homebound. Recently his name cropped up when independent filmmaker Abhinav Singh took to Instagram and accused Pratik of abuse. He also indirectly called him 'highly manipulative' and "emotionally abusive". Without revealing names, Abhinav initially urged his female followers to be careful around a cinematographer. He wrote, 'To my female friends: Please be cautious around a certain cinematographer I've encountered-he's highly manipulative and emotionally abusive based on my personal experience. If you want details, feel free to DM me.' Later, he revealed he was talking about Pratik Shah. He added, 'The number of women who've reached out to me is honestly frightening. I feel like I'm having a Margot Robbie moment from Bombshell. I will not be silenced. And to those who are still employing him – f**k you. His name is Pratik Shah. He's a cinematographer.' He claimed that many women reached out to him regarding Pratik and called him a 'predator.' 'I've spoken out, and now I'm hearing from others — people who've felt silenced or sidelined. It's heartbreaking. The patterns are undeniable. Many have called him a predator," he said. Filmmaker-writer Srishti Riya Jain also amplified several accusations against Pratik on Reddit. She also accused the film industry of a 'selective attention span and gaze' when it comes to acclaimed people. 'To everyone pretending to act shocked, scandalised, and suddenly awoken from their slumber… THIS man worked on one of the 'most empathetic' films of the year — or so the interviews at Cannes claimed,' she wrote. The alleged Reddit post featured someone calling Pratik 'a total sleazeball.' 'He slides into every girl's DMs and talks crap,' someone mentioned. Another said, 'He sent me a follow request last year while I was liking a mutual friend's pictures. I accepted it, and he said it was a mistake. I unfollowed him immediately — it felt off." Reportedly, Pratik has either deactivated or deleted his Instagram account as his social media handles remain unavailable. He is yet to address the allegations against him. As per THR India, four years ago Pratik Shah faced a similar situation but was let go after a warning.

Dharma Issues FIRST Statement On Sexual Misconduct Claims Against Homebound DOP Pratik Shah
Last Updated: Dharma Productions responds to allegations against Homebound cinematographer Pratik Shah, citing zero-tolerance policy and no POSH complaints during his tenure. Cinematographer Pratik Shah, known for his work on acclaimed titles like Homebound (directed by Neeraj Ghaywan), Jubilee (by Vikramaditya Motwane), and CTRL, has come under public scrutiny following allegations of inappropriate behavior. The accusations surfaced after filmmaker Abhinav Singh took to social media, describing Shah as 'emotionally abusive" and 'highly manipulative," citing testimonies from multiple women. In light of the controversy, Dharma Productions, which backed Homebound, issued an official statement. The studio reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward any form of misconduct or sexual harassment. They clarified that Shah was engaged as a freelance cinematographer for a brief period and that his association with the project has since ended. According to the statement, during Shah's tenure, no formal complaints were filed against him with the production's Internal Committee under the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policy. Dharma also emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safe and respectful workplace for all collaborators. Meanwhile, Shah, who was recently spotted at the Cannes Film Festival with the Homebound team, has deactivated his Instagram account following the emergence of these allegations. Abhinav Singh—known for his short films Sita (starring Shriya Pilgaonkar) and Yatri Kripya Dhyan De (featuring Shaheer Sheikh and Shweta Basu Prasad)—shared on record that several women had come forward to him with personal accounts of Shah's behavior. Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter India revealed that similar concerns had surfaced years earlier. A young female cinematographer reportedly contacted a senior member of the Indian Women Cinematographers' Collective (IWCC), claiming Shah had asked her for a nude photo during a professional exchange over Instagram. Sources confirm that the matter was brought to the attention of the collective and prompted informal inquiries within the IWCC at the time. As the situation unfolds, more voices are expected to come forward. Shah has not publicly responded to the allegations as of this writing. First Published:
