Badger Commit Flirting with Rebels? Reed's Ole Miss Visit originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Wisconsin football team's 2026 recruiting class currently stands at seven committed players. Among those players, and the Badgers' top-rated player according to the 247Sports rankings, is defensive lineman/EDGE Carmelow Reed.

Reed committed to the Badgers at the beginning of April, but his commitment to the Wisconsin football team may not be solid. Despite making a pledge to the Badgers, Reed could have his eyes looking elsewhere.
It could be a case of him just making sure he's making the right decision, but in a report from Adam Gorney, the national recruiting director for Rivals and Yahoo Sports, Reed is expected to take a visit to the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend.
The 3-star defensive lineman out of Olympia Fields, Illinois, is the 531st-overall player in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is the 63rd-ranked defensive lineman and 13th overall player in the state of Illinois.

He committed to the Badgers over a handful of Power 4 teams, including LSU, Ole Miss, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, and others.
Should the Badgers lose their pledge from Carmelow Reed, they will need to turn up the heat on some of their upcoming visits. Whether he is an edge or a defensive lineman, the Badgers are already relatively thin at those positions, especially along the defensive line.

Yankees face rotation decisions after veteran lefty's impressive start

Yankees face rotation decisions after veteran lefty's impressive start originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Ryan Yarbrough was the stopper the New York Yankees needed Sunday night. After being humiliated on Saturday and losing the series, the converted reliever stepped up and delivered his best start with the Bronx Bombers. Advertisement In six innings, Yarbrough allowed just one run while striking out five in a 7-3 win over the Dodgers. That performance not only helped the Yankees win, but it also made it clear that Yarbrough has become a major piece of their rotation puzzle. Yarbrough has been impressive since moving from the bullpen into the starting rotation. He's 3-0 with a 2.83 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP in 13 appearances, five of them starts. With injuries hitting the Yankees' pitching staff hard, including losing Gerrit Cole for the season to Tommy John surgery, Yarbrough's ability to provide innings and stability has been a huge plus. Gil, the reigning AL Rookie of the Year, has been out since spring training with a high-grade lat strain. He took a big step Friday, throwing off a mound for the first time since the injury. Advertisement Gil still has a few steps to go, including facing live hitters and a rehab assignment. But when he's ready, the Yankees will have a decision to make. While Yarbrough gives them the flexibility to move him back to the bullpen, do they really want to lose one of their most effective starters? Rookie right-hander Will Warren was forced into the rotation out of necessity because of the injuries to Cole, Gil, and Clarke Schmidt. He has shown flashes of success, but he's also struggled. He still has minor league options. He could be the odd man out of the rotation. Deion Sanders Goes Off on Giants' Brian Daboll Over Shedeur Sanders Rumor

Deion Sanders Goes Off on Giants' Brian Daboll Over Shedeur Sanders Rumor originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Leading up to the 2025 NFL draft, multiple reports emerged about former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his attitude toward certain NFL teams. Advertisement After the draft, several more concerning reports came to light about Sanders during the pre-draft process, but one stood out above all the others. On Day 2 of the draft before the Cleveland Browns picked Sanders with the 144th overall pick in the fifth round The Ringer's Todd McShay revealed the 23-year-old signal-caller had a troubling run-in with New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll that presumably led to the team turning its attention toward Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, who they drafted 25th overall. 'Shedeur didn't have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit,' McShay stated. 'An install package came in, preparation wasn't there for it, he got called out on it, he didn't like that. Brian didn't appreciate him not liking it.' FS1's Colin Cowherd provided a little more context on the incident the day after the draft wrapped up. Advertisement 'Another moment — teams will install mistakes intentionally planted in the install, and they want you to catch it,' Cowherd said. 'Shedeur didn't, and [the Giants] called him out, and once again, it didn't sit well. It's like bro, there's not that many teams needing quarterbacks.' Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders with son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders (2) against the Arizona State Sun Devils at Mountain America J. Rebilas-Imagn Images For the first time since the reports emerged, Sanders' father and former head coach at Jackson State and Colorado, Deion Sanders, addressed the rumors on Asante Samuel's 'Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast, putting Giants head coach Brian Daboll on blast. 'My kids…you aren't going to catch them in no foolery,' Deion said. 'So when you sit up there and say something like he went in a meeting unprepared, like dude, Shedeur Sanders, who's had six different coordinators, who has still functioned and leveled up every time we brought somebody new in, and you're going to tell me he had on headphones? Advertisement 'Anybody who knows my son understands he's a professional. Like he's going to go into a meeting with headphones on? Come on, man.' While many analysts have confirmed what both McShay and Cowherd reported—four-time Pro Bowl QB Boomer Esiason reported a few weeks ago that multiple teams didn't even have Sanders on their draft board because of incidents like what reportedly happened with the Giants—other have questioned if the validity of them. Blue Jays' John Schneider Sends Clear Message Before Phillies Game

Blue Jays' John Schneider Sends Clear Message Before Phillies Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Toronto Blue Jays clinched their fifth straight win on Sunday, defeating the Athletics 8-4 at Rogers Centre. After Addison Barger hit a two-run homer in the first inning on Saturday, he came through with another big swing on Sunday. With two on in the eighth and Toronto trailing 4-2, Barger deposited a three-run shot to right-field to give the Blue Jays a lead they never gave back. Advertisement While the vibes are high in Toronto, the team is navigating an injury to outfielder Daulton Varsho, who exited the game on Saturday after experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring while attempting to stretch a double into a triple. Varsho was tagged out at third base and left the field with assistance from trainers. The team later placed him on the 10-day injured list. While the Blue Jays will now head into a series with the 36-23 Philadelphia Phillies without their Gold Glove center fielder, manager John Schneider is confident in his team's ability. Advertisement "I think we've played good teams really well all year," he said (via Sportsnet). "It'll be fun. I think we've always kind of played them tough." In response to Varsho's injury, the Blue Jays made several roster moves on Sunday. Utility player Davis Schneider was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to fill Varsho's spot. Additionally, right-handed reliever Erik Swanson was activated from the 60-day injured list, bolstering the bullpen. To accommodate Swanson's return, left-handed pitcher Easton Lucas was optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo. These reinforcements will be put to the test against a good Phillies team.
