Dipika Chikhlia On Not Being Offered Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana: ‘Didn't Bother'

Dipika Chikhlia says she doesn't want to be associated with Ramayana in any other capacity.
The first glimpse of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, where Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, has set the Internet abuzz. The announcement teaser of the mythological drama was dropped on Thursday, reminding fans of Ramanand Sagar's iconic 1987 serial Ramayan. Hailed as the best interpretation of the Hindu epic, the television show featured Dipika Chikhlia as Maa Sita. Despite being one of the most revered characters, Dipika was not approached for a role in the upcoming magnum opus.
Speaking with The Times of India, Dipika shared, 'I was never approached. I guess they've not even bothered to speak to me about it."
Dipika shared that she does not want to be associated with Ramayana in any other capacity. Elaborating on her reluctance, she added, 'Once I played Sita, I don't think I can play any other character in Ramayan. It's something I'm not sure about. If I were doing something in Mahabharat or Shiv Puran, I could still give it a thought, but not in a Ramayana film."
It has been decades since Dipika Chikhlia portrayed Maa Sita on screen, but her legacy remains untouchable even today. Such was her impact that fans would revere her as a living embodiment of the Goddess.
Now, as Sai Pallavi steps into the role, expectations are high. Fans are looking forward to the magic she is set to create on screen. Taking centre stage with her in the film are Ranbir Kapoor, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha and Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari.
Nitesh Tiwari, director of the film, said in a statement, 'It's a tale that has endured across millennia because it speaks to something deep and eternal within us. We are not simply making a film. We are offering a vision — one rooted in reverence, shaped by excellence, and made to transcend borders."
Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios and the 8-time Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, in association with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is being touted as one of the biggest releases in the near future. Filmed for IMAX, part 1 of the magnum opus will be released worldwide in Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.

When Lalit Modi Called Sushmita Sen His "Better Half" And The Internet Lost It

Three years ago, fugitive billionaire Lalit Modi sent the Internet into a tizzy after he referred to Sushmita Sen, Bollywood star and former Miss Universe, as his "better half". In a post that still exists, the ex-commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) shared a series of pictures with the Aarya actor on X, when it was still called Twitter. Just back in london after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families - not to mention my #betterhalf @sushmitasen47 - a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon. 🥰😘😍😍🥰💕💞💖💘💓 — Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) July 14, 2022 "Just back in London after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families - not to mention my #betterhalf @sushmitasen47 - a new beginning, a new life finally. Over the moon," Lalit Modi wrote. What followed was a speculation storm. "Sushmita Sen marries Lalit Modi?" was what some of the headlines looked like. Within an hour, Lalit Modi issued a clarification. Just for clarity. Not married - just dating each other. That too it will happen one day. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 — Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) July 14, 2022 "Just for clarity. Not married - just dating each other. That too it will happen one day," he wrote. A day later, Sushmita Sen shared a cryptic post on Instagram, saying she was "not married" but "unconditionally surrounded by love". View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sushmita Sen (@sushmitasen47) "I'm in a happy place! Not married... no rings... and unconditionally surrounded by love. Enough clarification given... Now back to life and work! Thank you for sharing my happiness, always ... And for those who don't... it's #NOYB anyway. I love you guys!" she wrote. The Main Hoon Na actor took no names in her post in which she shared a photograph with her daughters, Renee and Alisah. In the middle of the social media frenzy, a section of people on the Internet labelled Sushmita Sen as a "gold digger". Days later, she clapped back at trolls, saying it was amusing to see many unknown friends and acquaintances passing comments on her personal life. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sushmita Sen (@sushmitasen47) "The so called intellectuals with their ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip The friends I never had & the acquaintances I've never sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & the 'Gold Digger' all the way!!! Ah these geniuses!!! "I dig deeper than I've always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! And yes I still buy them myself!!!" she wrote. Months later, Lalit Modi deleted all the pictures with Sushmita Sen from his Instagram account and changed his bio and profile picture, fueling rumours of a split. In a 2023 interview, Sushmita Sen spoke about why she decided to reply to her naysayers with the post. "Sometimes I think when people keep quiet, their silence is mistaken for weakness or fear. I just needed to put out one post to let them know I am laughing. After that I was done with it. You can't be 47 years old having lived most of your life in the public eye and be afraid of the public... I have been one of those people who has been loved so much, that when this sort of stuff happens, I think it's okay, I accept it, sabki life mein kabhi na kabhi aisi kankan hoti hai. "But it in no way defines who I am. So, I had to put it out there to show, I find the memes funny, but if you are calling someone a gold digger, at least don't monetise it! Check your facts. I prefer diamonds, not gold... And if I was going to marry, I would be married to them, love. I don't try. I do it or I don't," she told Mid-Day. Earlier this year, Lalit Modi introduced his girlfriend Rima Bouri, a friend of 25 years, to the world on the occasion of Valentine's Day. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lalit Modi (@lalitkmodi) Lalit Modi is in the news once again. This time it's thanks to a video in which he is seen performing Frank Sinatra's "My Way" with Vijay Mallya, another fugitive billionaire, during a grand party in London over the last weekend. The video went viral in no time after Lalit Modi shared it on his Instagram page on Thursday.

Not Yash, this 51-year-old superstar was the first choice for Ranbir Kapoor starrer Ramayana, rejected due to..., his name is...

Ranbir Kapoor is in the news these days for his upcoming film 'Ramayana'. The first look of the film was released on Thursday, in which a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor and South superstar Yash was seen. However, their full look has not been revealed yet. In this film, Ranbir will be seen in the role of Lord Shri Ram and Yash in the role of Ravana. But very few people would know that another superstar was the first choice for this movie. Bollywood Superstar Hrithik Roshan Here we are talking about the handsome hunk of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan, who has portrayed many characters on the big screen in his career. He was the first choice for the makers of 'Ramayana', but he was getting the role of Ravana and not Lord Ram. Actually, the makers first wanted to cast Hrithik Roshan in the role of a villain, but he rejected this offer for one reason. The One Reason Due To Which Hrithik Roshan Rejected Ramayana According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Hrithik Roshan was approached to play Raavan in the film 'Ramayana'. This was going to be the first onscreen collaboration of the two stars. It was also reported that Hrithik loved the script, but he has already played negative roles in several films (Dhoom 2 and Vikram Vedha). So he was not excited about playing the role of a villain. Hrithik believed that the audience still sees him as a hero, so he decided to stay away from this role and turned down the project, which made the makers look for a Raavan who could bring the same grandeur and charisma to the screen as Hrithik. Finally, 'KGF' superstar Yash was finalized for the role as his great screen presence and huge fan base make him the perfect choice for the role. More About The Historical Epic Ramayana Namit Malhotra's 'Ramayana' will be released in two parts. The first part will come on Diwali 2026 and the second will be released in 2027. Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Mata Sita in this movie, while actor Ravie Dubey will be seen as Lord Lakshmana. At the same time, the role of Hanuman is being played by none other than Sunny Deol. Nitesh Tiwari has taken up the responsibility of directing Ramayana, while the music part has been helmed by two stalwarts of the music industry, Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.
