Violin worth £150,000 stolen from London pub
A violin worth more than £150,000 was stolen from a London pub - with police appealing for help to find the 285-year-old instrument.
The violin belongs to a member of the London Philharmonia Orchestra who was in The Marquess Tavern in Islington on 18 February when it was taken.
It was made in Florence in 1740 - and described by its owner as "incredibly precious" and "priceless", the Metropolitan Police said.
The owner, 30, reported the theft to police on the evening it was stolen - but it has still not been found.
CCTV images from the pub show a man wearing a hat leaving with the instrument in its case.
PC Michael Collins, from the Met's local policing team, said: "We've been working hard to try and locate the suspect and are releasing this CCTV in an effort to help identify them as soon as possible."

She said the group's recent actions, including an attack against a defense factory in Glasgow in 2022, have resulted in damage that runs into millions of pounds. In March, Palestine Action targeted one of U.S. President Donald Trump's golf resorts in Scotland, painting 'Gaza is Not For Sale' in giant letters on the lawn in response to his proposal to empty the Gaza Strip of its Palestinian population. The government said a draft order will be laid in Parliament next week. Lawmakers still need to approve it. The ban will make it a criminal offense to belong to or support Palestine Action, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison. "In several attacks, Palestine Action has committed acts of serious damage to property with the aim of progressing its political cause and influencing the government," Cooper said in the statement. She said she would lay a draft order before parliament next Monday that, if passed, would proscribe the group under Britain's Terrorism Act of 2000. Cooper listed attacks at Thales defence factory in Glasgow in 2022, and two last year against Instro Precision in Kent, southeast England, and Elbit Systems UK in Bristol, in the country's southwest. The ban under terror laws will make it a criminal offence to belong to or support the group, punishable by up to 14 years in prison. "The UK's defence enterprise is vital to the nation's national security and this government will not tolerate those that put that security at risk," Cooper said. She stressed that her decision "is specific to Palestine Action and does not affect lawful protest groups and other organisations campaigning on issues around Palestine or the Middle East". Counter-terror police are investigating Friday's incident, in which two activists allegedly sprayed a plane with red paint while roaming the base on scooters. Driver stopped by police for ‘deadly' action while driving in Bolton
A driver was stopped by officers in Great Lever for allegedly driving while using a mobile phone behind the wheel last week. Officers were on patrol in Great Lever when they reportedly spotted the driver "brazenly" using the mobile device behind the wheel. The driver was ordered to stop by officers and reported for the offence. "A moment's distraction can lead to life-changing or fatal collisions. No text, no call, no notification is worth a life. 'It's illegal to use a handheld mobile device while driving – even if you're stopped at traffic lights or in a queue. "Offenders face a £200 fine and six penalty points. New drivers (within two years of passing) could lose their licence entirely. 'If a crash occurs while using a phone, you could face a prison sentence for dangerous or careless driving. 'Our message is clear: If you're behind the wheel, put the phone away. Your life – and the lives of others – depend on it.' Earlier this year, 22 vehicles were stopped in Great Lever by the Neighbourhood Policing Team on to catch those committing traffic offences on roads in the area. The operation comes in response to concerns from residents around the Lever Street, High Street and Bridgeman Street areas. Officers pulled over just under two dozen vehicles in total using these roads. Of these, 11 traffic offence reports were issued to drivers. These include for driving in excess of the speed limit, using a mobile phone whilst driving, contravening a red light and using a vehicle with defective tyres.
