Snapchat has announced the relaunch of its Family Safety Hub. The updated platform aims to help families navigate the app with more confidence and clarity.
The new version features improved guidance, simplified access to resources, and inclusive tools that support both parents and teens. Snapchat revealed that the update addresses the evolving digital safety needs of families.
As part of the initiative, Snapchat hosted an educational session. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority and life coach Hala Kazim. The session aimed to educate parents, creators, and media about Snapchat's family-focused safety features.
The revamped Family Center section now includes clear instructions on using in-app tools. These features allow parents to see who their teen is in contact with, without reading message content. This approach helps balance digital safety and user privacy.
Snapchat reported that the platform has shifted its language to be more inclusive. Previously called the 'Parents Site,' it is now named the 'Family Hub.' This change reflects a shared responsibility between parents and teens in maintaining safe digital habits.
Fatima Al Melhi, Director of Special Projects at the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, emphasized the importance of child protection. She stated, 'We are working together with Snapchat and other Children's Digital Wellbeing Pact members to ensure safe digital environments.'
Jawaher Abdelhamid, Head of Public Policy, MEA at Snap Inc., added, 'User safety has always been a priority for Snapchat. The Family Safety Hub demonstrates our commitment to empowering families while respecting young users' privacy.'
Snapchat also revealed the addition of new features to the Hub: A dedicated FAQ section
A reorganized feature overview with tab-by-tab guidance
Snapchat confirmed that downloadable tools and resources are now available online. These were previously accessible only at Snap-hosted events. Videos from Snap's YouTube channel have also been embedded and will be updated quarterly.
The content on the Family Hub is presented in a clear and accessible format. The goal is to help families have informed conversations about digital wellbeing.
Earlier this year, Snapchat was named a key member of The Pact. This is a UAE-based digital wellbeing committee led by the Digital Wellbeing Council and the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority. The Pact brings together government entities, tech companies, and telecom providers to support a safer digital experience for youth in the UAE.

S&P Dow Jones in talks to bring tokenized indexes to exchanges, DeFi: Exec

S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) is in discussions with major exchanges, custodians and DeFi protocols to license and list tokenized versions of its benchmarks, according to Stephanie Rowton, the firm's director of US equities. Rowton told Cointelegraph that the index provider is taking a 'strategic approach' to ensure tokenized S&P products are launched only on platforms that meet high standards for transparency, security and regulatory compliance. 'By establishing these types of relationships, we hope we can work together to participate in a robust infrastructure that supports the trading and accessibility of tokenized versions of our indexes, ultimately enhancing the investor experience,' she said. The push into blockchain comes as institutional interest in tokenized financial products accelerates. S&P DJI entered the space earlier this year by licensing the S&P 500 for a tokenization initiative with Centrifuge, which uses official data to offer programmable index-tracking funds via smart contracts. Rowton said the move has already generated 'an uptick in curiosity and engagement' from both traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) market participants. 'This interest reflects a broader market trend as investors increasingly seek innovative and efficient ways to interact with established financial products,' she added. Bridging TradFi and DeFi Rowton said the blockchain technology has a 'transformative potential' in the financial markets. 'As demand for digital assets grows, tokenization could play a crucial role in bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized finance,' Rowton noted. She added that the S&P DJI's tokenization strategy aligns with the firm's mission to meet the needs of 'a new generation of investors who are looking for innovative ways to engage with established benchmarks.' Interest in tokenized index products is strongest among digitally native investors, including crypto and blockchain participants, as well as institutions seeking to diversify portfolios. Regionally, Europe, Asia and LatAm lead the charge. Rowton also revealed that the company is evaluating opportunities to tokenize other flagship benchmarks such as the Dow Jones Industrial Average and thematic indexes. 'We recognize that different investor segments may have varying interests in specific indexes, and we will aim to respond to market demand accordingly,' she said. 2030 vision for tokenized indexes Rowton said tokenized indexes would be 'pivotal' in global markets by 2030, enhancing cross-border market access and liquidity. The technology could lower traditional investment barriers, while enabling new strategies that leverage DeFi features like fractional ownership and automated trading. However, she pushed back on the notion that tokenization threatens S&P DJI's traditional licensing business. Instead, she described it as 'a complementary innovation' that expands commercial opportunities and opens index investing to new audiences without compromising the integrity of the benchmarks. Rowton's comments come as tokenized stocks continue to gain momentum, with market capitalization for blockchain-based financial products hitting $370 million by the end of July. Last week, OpenEden partnered with BNY Mellon to manage and custody the assets behind its tokenized US Treasury product, TBILL, the first Moody's 'A'-rated tokenized Treasury fund to use a global custodian. Bitcoin hits record high above $124,000

The cryptocurrency rose above its previous July record, briefly exceeding $124,500 before retreating. US stocks ended higher Wednesday, with the S&P 500 index and the tech-heavy Nasdaq reaching new heights this week, contributing to the cryptocurrency's rise. Bitcoin's value has recently soared, fuelled by US regulatory changes under US President Donald Trump, a strong backer of the crypto sector. Its price has also been boosted by large holders of cryptocurrency, referred to as "whales". "The crypto market is enjoying a period of highly favorable fundamentals," said Samer Hasn, senior market analyst at "President Donald Trump has moved to end restrictions that previously prevented banks from doing business with companies flagged for reputational risk concerns, a category in which crypto firms were often unfairly placed," he added. Trump may also be inclined to "accelerate the integration of cryptocurrencies into the national financial system and lift additional restrictions, given his and his family's growing involvement in the sector", Hasn said. Trump's media group and Tesla, the electric carmaker owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk, are among an increasing number of companies buying huge amounts of bitcoin.

US Stocks: S&P 500, Nasdaq hit new closing highs on rate cut hopes

NEW YORK: The benchmark S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes hit new closing highs for the second straight day on Wednesday on hopes that the Federal Reserve was getting close to a monetary easing cycle. But the market reflected weakness in some technology stocks after the previous day's strong gains. Signs that U.S. tariffs on imports have not fully filtered into headline consumer prices came as a relief for investors this week as they seek insight on the impact of trade uncertainty on the economy. Some large technology stocks including Nvidia, Alphabet and Microsoft - among the so-called Magnificent Seven stocks - closed lower as investors searched for new growth drivers. "Valuations are elevated. I do think, though, at the end of the day, the key will be the delivery of earnings, and that's what we're seeing," said Katherine Bordlemay, co-head of client portfolio management, fundamental equities at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. She said the dispersion of stock-level returns in the U.S. is at one of the higher levels of the last 30 years. Apple rose 1.6% after Bloomberg News reported the company is plotting expansion into AI-powered robots, home security and smart displays. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 463.66 points, or 1.04%, to 44,922.27, the S&P 500 gained 20.82 points, or 0.32%, to 6,466.58 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 31.24 points, or 0.14%, to 21,713.14. The Russell 2000 index, which tracks rate-sensitive small-cap companies, rose almost 2% to hit a six-month high. Traders are now fully pricing in a 25 basis-point interest rate cut, according to the CME's FedWatch Tool. The central bank last lowered borrowing costs in December. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday he thought an aggressive half-point cut was possible, given recent weak employment numbers. Investors were also taking notice of other sectors following the recent tech-led rally in U.S. stocks that has pushed valuations of the S&P 500 above long-term averages. Healthcare stocks, which have been beaten down for much of the year, rose 1.6% to rank among the leading sectors in the 11 S&P 500 sectors. Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee said on Wednesday the U.S. central bank is grappling with understanding whether tariffs will push up inflation just temporarily or more persistently, which would inform its decision on when to cut interest rates. CoreWeave, which is backed by Nvidia, fell almost 21% after the AI data center operator reported a bigger-than-expected quarterly net loss. Paramount Skydance jumped 36.7% as the company won exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ultimate Fighting Championship for seven years. Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 4.05-to-1 ratio on the NYSE. There were 630 new highs and 56 new lows on the NYSE. On the Nasdaq, advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 2.53-to-1 ratio. The S&P 500 posted 40 new 52-week highs and 2 new lows while the Nasdaq Composite recorded 149 new highs and 69 new lows. Volume on U.S. exchanges was relatively light, with 16.9 billion shares traded, compared with an average of 18.3 billion shares over the previous 20 sessions.
