Thudarum box office collection day 8: Mohanlal is having an excellent 2025. After the massive success of his film L2: Empuraan, which earned Rs 265.5 crore worldwide after opening at Rs 24.5 crore on its release day, his second release of the year is seeing similar success. After opening at Rs 5.25 crore last week, the film saw a huge growth over the weekend and continued this momentum by earning Rs 5.5 crore on its second Friday. Thudarum's 8th day collection is just from 900 shows and is better than the figure posted by L2: Empuraan, which earned just Rs 4.55 crore on its eighth day of release.
Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy, is a crime thriller. Apart from Mohanlal, the film also stars Shobana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Chandini Baiju, among others.
Mohanlal had a difficult 2024, which was marked by two bombs. He made his directorial debut with the fantasy film Barroz 3D – Guardian of Treasures. The film, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, earned just 10% of its budget in its lifetime.
Similarly, the epic period film Malaikottai Vaaliban,directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, failed to resonate with the audience. The film, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 65 crore, earned just Rs 29.75 crore worldwide.
