Fitbit Labs opens three new AI experiments that Apple Watch fans might envy

Phone Arena13-05-2025

Fitbit has opened the doors to three fresh experiments in Fitbit Labs, aiming to turn your fitness tracker into a smarter health companion. Starting today, eligible Android and iPhone users in the U.S. will see a Labs card in the Fitbit app. From there you can hop on the waitlist for Medical record navigator, while two more tools, Symptom checker and Unusual trends, are on the way in the next few weeks. All three use Google's Gemini model to take raw numbers and turn them into plain language advice. These are the experiments available:
Medical record navigator lets you upload recent blood work or other lab files. Gemini scans the document and returns a clear summary, explains medical terms in everyday words, and points you to learning resources.

Symptom checker is a chat style assistant for days when you feel off. Describe what hurts, answer a few follow-up questions, and it suggests possible reasons so you can decide if more research or a doctor's visit is needed.

Unusual trends keeps an eye on metrics like resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, and overnight breathing rate. Once it learns what is normal for you, it pings you when something drifts out of range.
Once an experiment is available to you, it will show up for you under the Fitbit Labs main page. | Images credit — PhoneArena Fitbit says these tools are investigational only and not to be used to substitute medical advice. Furthermore, they are not approved to diagnose or treat any condition, and you can leave a study at any time, which deletes the data you shared.
It looks like competition in the health arena is heating up. Reports say Apple is testing its own AI health agent for the Health app, Samsung is folding Galaxy AI analytics into Samsung Health and its upcoming Galaxy Ring, and wearables like Whoop already flag early signs of illness by watching heart-rate variability dips. Everyone wants to turn passive data into proactive coaching before you even notice something is wrong. Fitbit Labs launched just seven months ago, and the first project, Insight Explorer, showed people are eager to ask an AI why yesterday's long run wrecked their sleep score. This new trio feels like the next logical step: start with confusing lab paperwork, help you decode vague symptoms, then alert you when hidden changes in your body pop up.
Even though it does not count as a medical diagnosis, having this information at your fingertips can be very valuable to warn you that something may be wrong and needs further examination. I am always in favor of tech that can make our lives better, especially when it has the potential to literally save your life.

Save $300 on the 256GB Pixel 9 Pro Fold with this unmissable limited-time deal

A new limited-time deal on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has made it simply too good to pass up. Right now, Amazon is offering a sweet $300 discount on the 256GB version of this handsome fella, allowing you to grab one of the best foldable phones money can buy for just under $1,500. Just be sure to act fast and pull the trigger as soon as possible, as it appears that the deal has been up for grabs for a few days now, and you never know when it could expire. $300 off (17%) The 256GB Pixel 9 Pro Fold is now $300 off on Amazon, making it an absolute bargain for all the value it offers. With top-tier performance and a stunning 8-inch inner display, this foldable powerhouse is a top-choice for Pixel users who want to start living the foldable lifestyle. Don't miss out! Buy at Amazon As for the phone itself, well, it may be far from budget-friendly, but it's worth every penny. Equipped with Google's latest Tensor G4 chipset and 16GB of RAM, it offers speedy performance and can handle every task—even demanding on-device AI assignments—with ease. Moving along to the camera department—well, it's a Pixel phone, so of course, it's ahead of the competition in this regard. Boasting a capable 48 MP main snapper, it takes beautiful pictures with vibrant, lifelike colors. However, it might struggle a bit in high-contrast or low-light conditions. But given that it's a foldable phone and cameras aren't their strongest suit, it's a fair trade-off. On the flip side, its stunning 8-inch inner OLED display boasts a crisp 2152 x 2076 resolution, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support, delivering gorgeous visuals. So, whether you're watching videos or playing your favorite mobile game, you're in for a treat. All in all, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a top choice if you're in Google's ecosystem and want to start living the foldable lifestyle. Furthermore, every opportunity to save on it should be welcomed, as it's definitely not among the best budget phones you can buy. But its high-end processor and gorgeous display rank it right among the best smartphones in 2025. So, act fast and save while the offer lasts!

Apple's WWDC25 project codenames signal that glass is in and flat design is out

WWDC 2025 will be upon us tomorrow, and there's lots to look forward to. One of the most talked about reveals that one could expect is Apple's preview of a major visual overhaul across its operating systems—and with it, reveal two names that signal where the company's design philosophy is headed: Liquid Glass and Glasswing. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Liquid Glass is the name of Apple's new user interface style debuting with iOS 26 and rolling out across iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and CarPlay later this year. The redesign brings a sleeker, more cohesive look with transparency, shimmer, and glass-like depth layered into toolbars and in-app controls. The goal is to create a unified visual identity across Apple's platforms while pushing the operating system design forward after more than a decade of flat second name, Glasswing , is what Apple is internally calling the iPhone it's developing for 2027. That model is expected to commemorate the iPhone's 20th anniversary with a radical new design featuring curved glass edges on all sides, ultra-thin bezels, and no cutout on the front display. The name references the glasswing butterfly, known for its nearly transparent wings, an image that aligns with Apple's long-term push toward visually seamless, glass-centric hardware. Just as the flat design era coincided with the rise of larger iPhones and the Apple Watch, the Liquid Glass interface appears to be laying the groundwork for a new generation of Apple hardware that reflects its aesthetic. Alan Dye, Apple's vice president of human interface design, is expected to formally introduce Liquid Glass during WWDC. While exact UI details remain officially under wraps (though extensively leaked), the branding itself offers a glimpse into how Apple sees the next stage of its platform identity. These updates will come at a time when Apple is facing increasing pressure to innovate on other fronts, especially in artificial intelligence. While WWDC won't solve the AI gap, I believe Apple is betting that a more refined and integrated design language will keep users invested and prepare its users for what comes next. WWDC kicks off tomorrow, June 9th, where both Liquid Glass and Glasswing will take center-stage.

Google's Gemini now supports scheduled actions

Google's Gemini has today received support for scheduled actions. These work in the Gemini app, and allow you to "streamline routine tasks or receive personalized updates" directly from Gemini, Google says. You can ask it to perform a specific task at a specific time, or transform a prompt into a recurring action. There's a new Scheduled Actions page within Settings where you can manage these anytime. Google says you can wake up with a summary of your calendar and unread emails, or have Gemini write five ideas for your blog every Monday, or get updates on your favorite sports team, or ask Gemini to give you a summary of an award show the day it happens, but of course there are unlimited other uses beyond these examples. Do note that there is a caveat here, namely that scheduled actions are only available to those who subscribe to Google AI Pro or Ultra, as well as "qualifying Google Workspace business and education plans".
