Benghazi Municipality reported that construction is progressing five months on from the start at Benghazi's new Tika airport.
‎Under the supervision of the eastern based (Libyan) National Development Agency, the airport project is being constructed by the UAE company, Global Builders – Terminal Holding.
The airport is advertised as having a capacity of 15 million passengers annually on a total area of 24 square kilometres, including a passenger terminal with expandable 12 aircraft gates and a transit building with an area of 129 thousand square meters, in addition to a special station for air cargo services, a presidential lounge (considered the first of its kind in Libya) and a free zone.‎
‎The new airport will be dedicated to international flights, while Benina Airport will continue to operate for domestic flights.‎
Benghazi Municipality reports that the project comes within the strategic plan for major projects implemented by a group of international and local companies. ‎it says the airport project is one of the most prominent strategic projects in Libya because it is considered the largest international airport in North Africa in terms of area and capacity.
It is, it adds, one of the vital projects that will contribute to strengthening the infrastructure of the air transport sector in Libya and providing advanced services to passengers, which supports the economic and social development of the country.

The Libyan market is deemed one of the most promising markets for Algerian products and services.‎ ‎This meeting is part of a series of consultations between the ministry and various economic actors, in the presence of the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, the Commissioner-General of the Association of Banks and Financial Institutions, the Vice-President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, as well as officials from the ministry.‎ ‎During the meeting, Minister Rezig affirmed his commitment to helping ensure the flow of Algerian exports, by supporting logistical aspects, improving the regulatory framework, and strengthening coordination with banking and financial authorities to secure commercial transactions.‎ ‎Promotion of exports outside the hydrocarbon sector‎ The minister stressed that these efforts fall within the framework of the implementation of the strategy to promote exports outside the hydrocarbon sector, in implementation of the directives of the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who he said attaches great importance to activating the economic partnership between Algeria and neighbouring countries.‎ ‎The minister also highlighted that the Libyan market is a natural extension of Algerian exports, and provides promising opportunities not only for the marketing of products, but also for the establishment of lasting and solid economic partnerships.‎ ‎During the meeting, Algerian exporters expressed their concerns and reviewed the obstacles they face on the ground, with the aim of reaching practical solutions in coordination with various sectors, especially financial and banking.‎

The award ceremony for the winners of Boursa FinTech's virtual shares Trading and Investment Competition was held last Tuesday (3 June) at the headquarters of the Libyan Stock Market in Tripoli. The event was sponsored by Tadawul Financial Group. Boursa said this is the first competition of its kind in Libya. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Libyan Stock Market, including Ahmed Karoud, Director of the Libyan Stock Market, and Mohamed Al-Sallabi. Representatives from Boursa as well as Tadawul Financial Group, headed by its Chairman, Naaman Elbouri. The event celebrated the outstanding efforts of the top participants in the Boursa competition, who demonstrated high-level skills in trading and investment, Boursa CTO and Co-founder Anas Elhasairi told Libya Herald . The winner's ceremony began with a speech by Feras Gherfal, Sales and Partnerships Director at Boursa. He shared a brief history of the company and outlined its vision for the future. He also highlighted Boursa's key products—particularly the Boursa app—which serves as a gateway for users to explore the world of stocks and currencies. Gherfal praised the app for its user-friendly interface and diverse features, emphasizing its compliance with top global standards. Naaman Elbouri, Chairman of Tadawul Financial Group, also delivered a speech in which he praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of such events in promoting a culture of trading and investment in Libya's financial market. Mohamed Al-Sallabi, representative of the Libyan Stock Market, highlighted the importance of reviving the stock market following a period of economic challenges. He confirmed that the Libyan market is now full of promising opportunities for new investors, especially with the support of regulatory authorities and ongoing development of market infrastructure. Training for the winners As a strategic step to support the winners of the Boursa competition, Al-Sallabi announced the launch of intensive and exclusive training courses for the winners, aimed at enhancing their skills and deepening their understanding of trading mechanisms, enabling them to invest their prizes wisely and professionally. On the same day, the company announced the launch of the virtual trading competition. The competition is designed to provide a practical educational experience for participants without the need to use real money. The competition received wide engagement and contributed to raising financial awareness among youth and beginner investors across Libya, the company said. The trading competition The competition ran for three months, from 1 February to the end of April 2025. Each contestant was given a virtual balance of 50,000 Libyan dinars at the start, which they used to trade on the platform. With this virtual balance, participants were able to buy and sell a wide range of assets—from commodities like wheat and silver to cryptocurrencies and global indices—aiming to profit from price fluctuations. ''The competition was designed to offer risk-free, practical learning experience for first-time traders/investors'', Elhasairi added. The winners The competition winners were the contestants who achieved the highest return percentages at the end of each month.
