A powerful trio is coming to Netflix: The streamer's limited series Sirens, starring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Milly Alcock, will premiere with all five episodes Thursday, May 22.
In the dark comedy, 'Devon (The White Lotus' Fahy) thinks her sister Simone (House of the Dragon's Alcock) has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell (Mary & George's Moore),' reads the official synopsis. 'Michaela's cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it's time for an intervention, but she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells' lavish beach estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class.'

Live events, from concerts to sports to many other kinds, have come to be one of YouTube's foundational elements as technology improvements have enabled more seamless livestreams. 'We want to bring more of these moments to fans everywhere,' Mohan said. One example in September will be an NFL game in Brazil, streamed on YouTube in full for the first time. 'People ask me if I'm going Hollywood. Why?' he said. 'The future of entertainment is not in Hollywood. It's happening right here, right now, on YouTube.' Popular YouTuber Brittany Broski (aka Brittany Tomlinson) interviewed another longtime creator, Sean Evans, who hosts interview series Hot Ones. Evans recently participated in an $82.5 million deal to buy the property from BuzzFeed, giving him an ownership stake in the chat show. 'Ownership, equity, and having a stake in the game is like a natural state for a creative person,' he said. 'We are far past the days when a production company or studio is bigger than the person creating the content.' Asked about the enduring appeal of his 10-year-old show, Evans said, 'It pierces the façade of celebrity. … We knock them off the pedestal and take it down to a relatable level.' Taraji P. Henson, Teyana Taylor and Sherri Shepherd star in the newest Tyler Perry film, Straw. The movie explores a single mother who suffers through a chaotic day and snaps. Tyler explains that his films paint a picture of the pain and the joy Black women face. _________________________________________________________________________ You never really know what the next person is going through, until they've reached their breaking point. Tyler Perry's latest dramatic project is the Netflix film Straw, which delves into the world of Janiyah, played by Taraji P. Henson, a single mother who is just doing her best to get by and survive a day that spirals into chaos. Taraji puts her all into bringing to life a character that suffers through a day no one would wish on their worst enemy, from being evicted to experiencing a terrifying police encounter and getting fired from her job. At the end of it all, she snaps. 'All humans want to be seen and that was her struggle. Because she was going through so much, she felt very much alone and it was beautiful to know. It's unfortunate that she had to go through so much and to be pushed to her breaking point for her to finally be seen and it was by two other incredible Black women. 'I think that gave her a reason to live because after a while it's like, 'why am I even here?' That's why its important humans are seen ... For someone to say, 'I see you, I understand', can save a life,' Taraji says. The many layers of Black women Written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry, the famed filmmaker is no stranger to highlighting the plight of Black women and the struggles they face in their daily lives. Tyler is known for hit films like Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Mea Culpa, Why Did I Get Married? and more. With many of the themes in his films exploring the good, the bad and ugly that Black women have to face on a daily, many people critique the consistently heavy and traumatising experiences Black women are subjected to in his films. This is what Tyler had to say about those critiques. 'I say nothing to those people who think that my films focus on the struggle of Black women because they're right, it does. Let me tell you something, if I get an opportunity to put a Black woman onscreen for people to see them in love, happy, in joy, in pain, in struggle - what I'm doing is a service to all people, so that people will know that Black women are not just strong and one thing. They're all things and they go through all of these different things. 'So, to have an opportunity to be able to paint all of these pictures and all sides of us is something that I'm paying homage to my mother, to my aunt, to my sisters and friends and cousins and the things they all went through, so that's what I'll say to that. When it comes to Straw, Tyler says, '[Janiyah] says in the film, 'Nobody sees me', well, this is about people seeing this group of people who everybody has ignored for so long.' I had to commit to what was on the page, commit to the choices I made and believe it. And then I had the guidance of this great mind here, Tyler Perry, who makes me feel uninhibited. When I get on his set, I feel nurtured and I feel safe and when I'm safe, I'll take risks. Taraji P. Henson The littlest support can save a life Taraji's character is supported by phenomenal performances by actors Sherri Shepherd and Teyana Taylor, who play the bank manager Nicole who has been taken hostage by Janiyah and Detective Raymond, the officer negotiating with her, respectively. Sherri tells us more about what resonated with her about her character. 'The fact that my character, Nicole, actually saw Janiyah and she left where she was working at before in an affluent area to come down to the neighbourhood because she wanted to make a difference and here was a woman walking in who just had the weight of the world on her shoulders. I wanted to get home to my family, and I wanted her to get home to her family. There had to be a way to work this out, so to be able to connect with Detective Raymond and see her calm down. So, it was just like, in that moment of connection, sisterhood. I love anything about sisterhood, so it was a sisterhood connection for me.' Teyana's character, Detective Raymond, becomes a lifeline for Janiyah. Teyana explains, 'We've seen these type of women, we've been these type of women, we are these type of women. So, it's easy to put your sauce on it when it's just like, wow, to be a mother and to know that you would do anything for your baby, how can you not dive into that as a mother? How can you not dive into these characters as a Black woman? In spaces we don't feel seen and things like that. 'So, this role I wouldn't even say was challenging, it was more of an exhale. It was really a safe space to be able to really take my cape off and feel and be okay with not being okay and putting that all into this character.'

Brianne Howey's Georgia Faces A Life Sentence And Murder Trial In ‘Ginny & Georgia' Season 3 Trailer
Netflix has released the full trailer for Season 3 of one of its biggest young adult hits, Ginny & Georgia, Season 3 of which could be headed down a dark path. The show returns to Netflix June 5 with 10 episodes. Season 2 ended on quite a few chaotic notes, including Georgia (Brianne Howey) getting arrested at her fairytale wedding to Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter). Jennifer Robertson's Ellen Baker tells Georgia in the kitchen of the Baker household. 'It wasn't this cookie cutter copy and paste affair, it was very memorable.' 'Especially the part where I was arrested,' Georgia adds. To be clear, Georgia did commit the murder of Tom Fuller, husband of Cynthia Fuller (Sabrina Grdevich), whom she smothered in Season 2 while he was already ailing and in hospice. And her son Austin (Diesel La Torraca) witnessed her do it while he was playing a game of hide and seek with Cynthia's son Zach. He remained hidden in the closet while Tom's monitor flatlined. Austin's father Gil (Aaron Ashmore) also came to town last season, adding another wrinkle to the already layered life of Georgia Miller. 'My mom's awaiting your murder trial, and everyone at school is looking at me like I'm in the circus,' Ginny (Antonia Gentry) tells her best friend Maxine Baker (Sara Waisglass). 'It's fine.' 'College essay writes itself,' Max jokes. She later expresses deep concern for Ginny to the other two members of their friend group, MANG, Nora (Chelsea Clark) and Abby (Katie Douglas). Until her trial, Georgia will be under house arrest with an ankle monitor, which starts beeping when it needs to be charged. There seems to be tension between Paul and Georgia, though he can be spotted running with Ginny. RELATED: 'I've always known my mom was different,' Ginny's voice plays over scenes of her walking through a parking lot and being judged by her fellow students. 'There's more to her that people don't see.' 'Everyone thinks I'm a violent, unhinged monster,' Howey's voice plays over a scene of her having what looks like a panic attack. 'You can't give up,' Raymond Ablack's Joe, owner of Blue Farm, tells Georgia. 'At least it can't get any worse, right? Except if I go to prison, that would be worse,' she says with Joe next to him. 'I'm not a bad person, but if you come face to face with bad, you become a little bad yourself.' 'Mom needs me,' Ginny tells her father Zion (Nathan Mitchell). 'You think you have the whole story, but you don't.' Paul doesn't want any more secrets between him and Georgia. 'I've been defending my mom to everyone. I'm trying so hard to protect her, but I don't even know if it's the right thing to do,' Ginny says to a solemn looking Marcus (Felix Mallard), who had his own mental health struggles at the end of last season. 'I don't want my mom to go to prison.' Ellen Baker reaches out to comfort Ginny. 'You think she did this?' Paul asks Zion. The clip ends with Georgia chipperly declaring that she and Ginny are 'ride or die,' which they have been since the show's first season.
