There was plenty of women's football action to enjoy this weekend, with four of Europe's top five leagues all in action.
Here's what we made of it all.
Lyon recorded a 4-0 win away at Strasbourg to extend their lead at the top of the Première Ligue to eight points.Joe Montemurro's side fired 30 shots towards goal during the 90 minutes, as Eugénie Le Sommer, Wendie Renard, Melchie Dumornay and Tabitha Chawinga all got themselves on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, the battle goes on between the two capital clubs, with Paris FC's draw against Nantes, allowing rivals PSG to leapfrog them into second place in the table.19-year-old Tara Elimbi Gilbert scored the only goal in PSG's win away at Dijon to supply the vital three points, having only signed her first professional contract in the summer.

To add just a little more spice to this closely-matched rivalry, the two Paris clubs meet each other in the French Cup on March 15th.
Real Madrid battled hard to overcome a one-goal deficit away at Athletic Club, securing a 2-1 win.The home side took the lead thanks to a 10th minute penalty, before Maëlle Lakrar levelled the scores just before half-time. The three points were secured by Spain international Olga Carmona as she stunned the goalkeeper with an exquisite lob.

With that emphatic victory, El Femení retain their five-point lead at the top of Liga F.
Serie A's women have moved into the playoff phase of the season, with the top five and bottom five now separated as they face one another in a round-robin to determine the league winner as well as relegation.Juventus recorded a 4-3 win over Roma to give them the advantage in the top half of the competition, with Christina Girelli netting a hat-trick to help earn that result for the Bianconere.

Juventus now hold a seven-point advantage over rivals Inter.
When Chelsea took the lead at Brighton in their latest WSL fixture, it looked to be business as usual for a side that had previously won 13 of their last 14 league games.TOP BINS 🗑️A sensational strike from @ChelseaFCW's Sandy Baltimore 🌟#BarclaysWSL pic.twitter.com/FqrxSunzoU

But the Seagulls made it tough for Chelsea, and put themselves 2-1 in front after 42 minutes.
A strike from Lauren James levelled the scores back up at 2-2, meaning that the Blues had dropped points for only the second time this season.
They now sit five points behind a Manchester United side that have won seven WSL fixtures on the bounce. Their 2-0 win over Leicester on Sunday means that they have only lost once this season, closing up the gap between first and second. Can they put enough pressure on the Blues to make this a race to the finish line?
Next weekend sees the return of the women's Bundesliga, with Wolfsburg's trip to RB Leipzig the pick of the fixtures in an incredibly tight title race.

Ange Postecoglou reacts to Tottenham sacking: ‘We are forever connected'

Ange Postecoglou has said he and Tottenham fans will 'forever' be 'connected', after the club sacked him as coach on Friday. In May, Postecoglou guided Spurs to the Europa League trophy – their first silverware in 17 years – but also their worst-ever Premier League finish, as Tottenham ended up 17th. Advertisement The north London side lost 22 out of 38 league games amid that campaign, which also saw them exit the FA Cup to Aston Villa in January and suffer a thrashing by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals four days earlier. Postecoglou, who joined Tottenham from Celtic in 2023, vowed: 'I always win things in my second year.' And he did, but his stint at Tottenham has come to an end at the culmination of that second year, regardless. 'When I reflect on my time as manager of Tottenham, my overriding emotion is one of pride,' said the Australian, 59, in a statement via his agency CAA Base. 'The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget. Advertisement 'That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of hard work, dedication and unwavering belief in a dream. There were many challenges to overcome and plenty of noise that comes with trying to accomplish what many said was not possible. We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 17 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them. 'I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, the supporters. I know there were some difficult times but I always felt that they wanted me to succeed and that gave me all the motivation I needed to push on. 'It's important to acknowledge the hard working people at Spurs who gave me encouragement on a daily basis. And finally, I want to thank those who were with me every day for the last two years. A fantastic group of young men who are now legends of this football club and the brilliant coaches who never once doubted we could do something special. 'We are forever connected. Audere est Facere [to dare is to do].' Ange Postecoglou with the Europa League trophy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (PA Wire) Tottenham's own statement read: 'Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties. Advertisement 'Ange joined us from Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning us to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in our history by leading us to Uefa Europa League glory in Bilbao last month – an achievement that will live with us all forever. 'We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw. 'However, the Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place. Following a pos itive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. 'At times there were extenuating circumstances – injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph. Postecoglou with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy (PA Wire) 'It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond. This has been one of the toughest decisions we have had to make and is not a decision that we have taken lightly, nor one we have rushed to conclude. Advertisement 'We have made what we believe is the right decision to give us the best chance of success going forward, not the easy decision. We have a talented, young squad and Ange has given us a great platform to build upon. We should like to express our gratitude to him. We wish him well for the future – he will always be welcome back at our home. 'News on the appointment of a new Head Coach will be announced in due course.' The Independent understands that Brentford manager Thomas Frank is the frontrunner to take over from Postecoglou.

Connor Roberts: Wales will go toe-to-toe with any team under Craig Bellamy

Connor Roberts says Wales are heading into their crunch World Cup qualifier against Belgium driven on by a change of mindset under Craig Bellamy. Wales boss Bellamy has overseen a dramatic improvement in fortunes since succeeding Rob Page, with the Dragons currently sitting top of their qualifying group for next summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Advertisement Monday's World Cup qualifier against Belgium in Brussels marks the 12-month anniversary of their last defeat – a 4-0 beating in Slovakia that marked the end of the Page era. Connor Roberts, left, says Wales' mindset has radically changed under Craig Bellamy (Nigel French/PA) Bellamy has embarked on a nine-game unbeaten run since taking charge – by far the best start of any Wales manager – and has promised to go on the attack against group favourites Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium. 'Yes. Straightforward answer,' Roberts said when asked if Wales were profiting from a mindset change under Bellamy. 'The manager has come in – and obviously I know him from his time at Burnley – and we will go toe-to-toe with any team. Advertisement 'I'm not saying we'll win every single game but one thing is for sure, we are one as a team. Bellamy extended his unbeaten start as Wales manager to nine games on Friday (Adam Davy/PA) 'As the Wales national team, we will give everything, and do the right things to try and win every game we play.' Former Wales captain Bellamy has spoken at length about the demanding playing style he has introduced since his appointment last July. It is a high-pressing and high-energy possession game with the aim to dominate possession and win the ball back as soon as it is lost. Roberts said: 'It's massively enjoyable for everyone. None more so than me having been here quite a while, and trying to play the way I know how to after being at Burnley. 'If you win games and put in good performances you will enjoy it.' Advertisement Wales moved clear at the top of Group J after beating Liechtenstein 3-0 in Cardiff on Friday. Goals from Joe Rodon, Harry Wilson and Kieffer Moore completed a routine victory after Liechtenstein, ranked 205th out of the 210 teams in world football, had held out for 39 minutes. Wales hold a two-point lead from North Macedonia after taking seven points from their opening three World Cup qualifiers. Joe Rodon, centre, scored his first Wales goal against Liechtenstein (Nigel French/PA) Belgium began their campaign on Friday with a 1-1 draw in North Macedonia after conceding a late equaliser. Roberts said: 'We just have to concentrate on ourselves, go into every game to try and win, and that will be exactly the same against Belgium. Advertisement 'Of course it's a big switch (from playing against Liechtenstein) but we have to keep being ourselves and not change. 'Why can't we go there and dominate and put in a really good performance? That is the aim, that is the plan, and hopefully we can achieve that.'
